"Sunrise" (2003/UK#7) didn't chart on the US Hot100 but it went to US#5 on the Adult Contemporary chart. Hailing from Manchester, England, Simply Red has had an impressive career including two US#1 singles. One is the song you reacted to a couple of months ago... "Holding Back the Years" (1986/US#1, UK#2), as well as a superb cover of the 1974 Philly Soul classic "If You Don't Know Me by Now" (1989/US#1, UK#2). You should also check out "Something Got Me Started" (1991/US#23, UK#11), "Stars" (1991/US#44, UK#8), and "Fairground" (1995), his only UK#1, despite climbing no higher than US#113 over here in the US. Over time Simply Red music changed to fit with the younger audience...but damn awesome music... my 60 year old dad when this song came out loved it because he was a big Simply Red fan.
