Nothing makes me happier than watching people fall in love with rock music, thatjoy doubles when it's slipknot. Corey Taylor on the meaning of Duality: "Did you ever get that headache that is just not going to go away, and you end up sticking your thumb and your middle fingers so far into your eyes just to stop the pain? It usually has to do with making a painful choice, you get to that point in everyday life that you have to make a decision that you may not want to, but you're kind of pushed into making that decision."

For sure. Every mosh pit I have ever been in has been really polite overall. At an Opeth show a few weeks ago the whole pit stopped when someone hit the ground and didn’t continue until the people nearby made sure the person who fell was okay. Really wholesome honesty haha

Hell yes my dude. I am a 5'0(on a good day! XD) 120 lbs woman that has gone into mosh pits and at a slipknot concert I got rowdy elbowed in the face, I mean straight up BAM! Nose bleeding , passed out on the floor out of it kind of elbowed in the face, and a group of metalhead men made a circle around me protected me and got me to my feet and got me out of the center of the mosh pit and made sure I was okay. Seriously nicest people I have ever met. I loved that concert, and Dillan, if you ever by chance read this; I love you man! You're the best!

They have one drummer. And two percussionists (they also do back up screams live) Their drummer Joey was replaced due to health issues. The new drummer is also great but his playing style is kinda different. Joey has a more groovy metal hip hop hybrid technique but Jay the new drummer has a more traditional metal style and fuses it with some Jazz techniques. Both are bad ass.

This song is about how in life you could go to ways and it talks about the difficulties of that decision. As well as that the ‘ I push my fingers into my eyes’ references the chronic migraines that Corey used to get and how when he pushed his fingers into his eyes it would relieve the pain

This is a fucking awesome song! Slipknot is a bad ass band. Let me tell you, I’m someone that listens to everything but Country. I jam 90s R&B one day and the next day I’m jamming to heavy-metal I just appreciate music that much. But the thing about this song is when I met my husband and the father of my child, on our first date he put this song on in the car because back in the day that’s when it was out and I love this song so much and when he played it I’m like oh my god this is my man! Lol

But when you stopped to get food and you were turned kinda out the window ordering, the way the screen with the band in it was positioned, it looked like Corey with his head tilted looking at you like dude really...I found it amusing anyway.

Trivium - Shattering the Skys Above (theme song from one of the God of War video games).

Definitely have to listen to "Surfacing" by them...you'll enjoy that. Another thing that you could do, if you're at home on the PC, is to look up the songs on Wikipedia. They usually have some pretty good info, with quotes from the band, about the meaning of the songs and such.

Yo you should do lyrical breakdown videos after listening through the first time. Like relistening and reading through the lyrics and then tell us your personal interpretation of the lyrics. You could follow that up with some song meanings you find from the artists themselves (if they've said stuff about it). Metal songs (not only metal though) tend to have depth, and I feel like depth is important. Makes people connect with the music better.

Been in a Slipknot pit. Def one of the rougher ones I've been in. You can stand at the back at metal shows and nobody is doing anything back there, completely safe. A Slipknot show will likely have seats available as well.
Funny you should mention slipknot mosh pits, I was lucky enough to have my first ever concert be ozzfest 2001 right before I shipped off to Marine corps bootcamp. When slipknot came on a giant mosh pit formed with some pretty big and rough looking dudes in it. I was 6'3" and 160lbs soaking wet but I jumped in, chose the largest guy in reach and went at it. Had a blast, only a few bruises with no broken bones. Wasn't nearly as bad as I imagined. Even had a few of those crazy looking guys whom I'd taken on in the pit come u to me after to talk and show their respect. They were actually pretty cool. So my advice is just go for it and dive in.

I went Knotfest in August. 3 bands play and then slipknot performs. By the time the third band was playing (Volbeat) everyone was starting to get really wasted and the mosh pits were starting to get wild. I'm 6 foot and lanky. These dudes were big, intoxicated and you just gotta watch out. Slipknot wasnt even playing yet and I already had these ogres falling and pushing me.....moral of the story, dont take 3 hits of LSD at Knotfest. Your gonna have a bad time. I was having a bad trip but when Corey started talking to the crowd it made me feel pure joy. They put on one hell of a show but the experience is fucking nuts.

For anyone whose never been in mosh pits before and is scared, please don't be. I was like you too. I'm a ladyperson (if you couldn't tell by name) so getting in a mosh pits with a tonne of giant men (I'm not small, I'm 5'9" with plenty of padding, thanks mum :) ) but it was still intimidating. What I found after getting into my first one is this: don't get into ones with younger guys if you don't wanna get hit, they're the ones most likely to do that crap intentionally (swinging elbows and sugar honey ice tea). The ones with older people are so ridiculously respectful and sweet you'll actually come out of it wondering why you were scared in the first place. You can stand at the edge and just push people who get bumped towards you back into the pit if you wanna just "dip your toes" without going full contact at first. If someone falls, people will clear the space around you so you don't get trampled and pick you up. People are very respectful when there are women in the mosh pit, and you get mad props for facing your fear and jumping in, especially if you got in the pit to one of your favourite songs and get caught up in the moment screaming out your lungs to the song with random strangers. It's truly amazing. I highly recommend. You will get bruises, you're full-contact bumping into people and being bumped into. But the memories will last you a lifetime and you'll be glad you did it.
