Great presentation. The pauses while animations play helped a lot to quietly appreciate what e.g. a meniscal repair looks like. I would love another video, if you could make one, about post-op treatment and RTP protocols, as you outlined in the last minute or so of the video.

Thank you. I’ll do my best to make one when I have the time during the off-season. Unfortunately, there’s so many injuries in-season that I don’t have much time for anything else

I really like that you provide an insight of tactics and options related to how the team will/should cope at the end.

1. Can meniscal tears cause patella crepitus? I had an MRI that said I may have a meniscus tear but declined surgery because I think they were going to remove it making me susceptible to arthritis sooner. 2. Can an old meniscus tear in the red portion be repaired? (4 years old) My knee crepitus hasn't healed in that time but has gotten better, before I couldn't put weight on my knee or sit on my shins without pain. My only other symptom is rare pain in the back of the knee but I can go up stairs, run, walk normally.

1 - I’m not entirely sure on that but theoretically, any change in the meniscus would be changing the mechanics at the knee (and therefore with the patella) leading to possible crepitus. That being said, crepitus in and of itself isn’t an issue. It’s typically fluid rolling over the ridges of the patella 2 - We’re seeing more research that some meniscal tears will actually scar down over time and therefore don’t need to be repaired. Considering it’s been four years for you and you don’t have any symptoms, surgery very likely isn’t recommended

@@3cbperformance Thanks for the response. That is what I was told, that the mechanics of the knee have now changed causing altered movement of the patella. I've stopped bodybuilding and football so probably why I dont have any complications. My only lasting symptom is knee crepitus.
@3cbperformance5 жыл бұрын
B Gains when you say that you’ve stopped bodybuilding, do you mean strength training in general?
@misterzee57365 жыл бұрын
@@3cbperformance yeah all training. I used to do heavy squats, deads etc no doubt thats where I messed things up. I couldn't get an answer from the surgeon when I asked that if he needs to cut stuff out don't do it. If he can repair it then proceed. He said if he goes in he will remove if he can't repair. Cancelled the surgery as wasn't affecting daily life but also quit training legs as looking good is not worth daily pain. I quit training in general because of my shoulder issues, decided I'm not built for rigorous training. Do you know much about the stemcell treatments for meniscus tears? Is there a criteria to be eligible such as if the tear is in the area with blood supply?
@3cbperformance5 жыл бұрын
@@misterzee5736 I would go see a physio who also specializes in strength and conditioning so you can potentially build your strength training back up. Lifting and cardio are two keys in staying healthy, short and long term I don't know that much on stem cell treatment for the meniscus and believe the research is very limited thus far. I'd suggest reaching out for a consultation but make sure it's with a reputable provider (a lot of nonsense in the stem cell field, people trying to make a quick buck). I'd highly recommend Regenexx

Crepitus doesn’t indicate cartilage damage typically
