Ayn Rand and her philosophy deserve more recognition, research and popularity. It’s increasingly challenging in the world that constantly moves to the left.

An excellent podcast episode, as is Elan’s essay on the Burns book (haven’t read the on Heller’s book yet). I read both biographies when they first came out and didn’t find any value in them. Thank you for writing such an illuminating expose, Elan.

Very much appreciated, Elan. Your a true gentleman. May fortune smile upon you.

It was an intentionally harmful and discrediting distortion of Ayn Rand’s whole figure as a philosopher and novelist. It poses too much threat to them philosophically and by extension politically.

I wonder what these two biographers’ purpose was in writing Rand’s biography.

I liked Ayn Rand and the world she made I think the author portrayed Nathaniel Branden as a liar she was fair
@adrianainespena5654Ай бұрын
The whole business with Branden shows how self deluded Ayn could be. Yes, Branden was a liar, but she thought that he was a brillian man and her best disciple, so he fooled her. She did not realize that a double adultery with the other spouses consenting, and expecting to be happy about it was not a sensible proposition. She did not realize that she was tearing her own circle apart by not accepting that Branden did not want her anymore. She wanted an intellectual circle and she ended up with a soap opera. She ranted about collectivism and the idea of sacrifice, but she demanded that her followers had the same opinions and tastes as her, demanded that one of his followers divorce his wife because she believed in God, in other words, her followers were expected to sacrifice their beliefs to be in agreement with her. Compared with what she demanded of them, the government taking taxes was a light burden.

@@adrianainespena5654 I mean I agree with you but I still think she made some Great points that to this day still help me in my personal life! I don’t see her as a goddess and her life story is fascinating to me

@@popito8366 Yes, I understand how she and others could make the concept of personal boundaries and how many demands are asked of us that we do not need to answer. On a personal level she can be a great help. It is when she starts to generalize that she goes off the rails

Not only was her writing god awful and boring as all heck, but to her objectivism Id say Rand could neither fix a flat tire nor write a decent novel so objectively she has no purpose.

Maybe it"s boring because you fail to begin to understand it.
