What is so facinating with Arjen Lucassen, besides he is multi talented, is that you dont really know what to expect when it comes to the vocals, but well you can be damn sure you get a story in a theater atmosphere way, and there is certain instruments and riffs, when you hear half a sec of them, you know its Ayreon.. he got a unique sound there, that is easy to reconize, and it turns a bit prog at times, as always a great perfomance, and song, cant wait for new album release..

My favorite bit about this song, other than Damien's vocal performance, is the use as the cello as the BP-filtered baseline early on.

This does things to me just like Ghost Love Score does. The build up, not letting the music resolve until the end, and then a magnificent vocal. Damians voice give me full body goosebumps when he lets rip at the end. Fun fact this show was narrated by John de Lancie, Q from Star trek.

Damian Wilson is one of the underrated British singers. Fortunately Arjen Anthony Lucassen uses him in many if his concerts. Personally love the 2003 Star One live concert because Arjen is playing guitar and singing and female vocalists are Floor and her sister Irene Jansen

So glad you enjoyed it! Please check out Damians Band "Headspace" soon. They only have 2 albums but every single song is a masterpiece. Their keyboardist has worked with Ozzy, and their bassist is from Take That. Very extensive musical experience in that band. It's like what you heard here but more metal and even more beautiful vocals.

Guilt Machine is the title to a record from Arjen in 2009. During this live show they do songs from many of the Arjen project records. Thus the title "and Other Tales".

This song is from yet another side project of Arjen Lucassen's called Guilt Machine. They only produced the one album, called "On this Perfect Day", and it is amazing. Although I like this live version, I prefer the studio version. Probably blasphemy for me to say this, but I prefer the vocals on the studio version. Anyway, check out the album.
