Never have I ever felt anything close to what I felt while watching Senna behind the wheel. No other racer has produced that effect on me. You knew immediately that you were witnessing someone very special: the passion, the despair, the intensity, the commitment and dedication. He was always on the limit and... Beyond. It was as if watching something akin to a religious ritual because Senna was a fanatic (in the best sense of the word) when it came to racing F1. He was ready to give his 110%. After his death I stopped watching F1. Later there were very talented, accomplished racers but they weren't Senna. The magic has died on that day in Imola, some 30 years ago. Rest in peace, Ayrton Senna, the Brazilian Wizard.

Since Senna has died, and subsequent team domination surfaced at Red Bull with 4 titles in a row for Vettel and now Verstappen with consecutive titles, 19 wins in 22 races, Schumacher with 7 titles, 5 in a row with Ferrari, Lewis with 7 titles, 6 or them in 7 years, wins stacked far exceeding Sena’s 41, with over a 100, beating Schumachers 91 record, Vettel with 51 F1 wins, Verstappen at 58 at the moment, great drivers like Senna raced with more parity in drivers and machinery, fewer races per season, 16 then., versus 24 in 2024, while many fewer races when Jim Clark, Jackie Stewart and only 8 races in a season when Fangio dominated, there really is a line to be drawn of 2 maybe 3 eras to gauge drivers like Prost who won 51 races and 4 titles, to make reasonable comparisons of F1 era should at least be seen from before Senna, and after Sena’s death. After he died Schumacher literally had nobody to race against until Williams 1996 and 1997. Safety changed then too, then reliability the past 20 years have too, which in itself cost Raikkonen one F1 title. Before Senna and After Senna are very distinct times, eras, in F1 to make any reasonable comparison with statistics as a reference. Many remember the way Senna drove which make many say he was the greatest.

I remember exactly where I was that morning, Ayrton Senna was at the forth race of the season in the Williams car and had not won a race e yet, so he put himself under a great deal of pressure, as for many years I video recorded every F1 since 1987, I had woken up to watch the race on tape as they are televised at 4am-6am PST, I started the race on within a few laps later I was shocked and devastated at what I saw, Senna was the reason why I became a fan early on in his career driving the JPS, Senna was distraught about Roland Ratzenburger’s death during practice, and was clearly upset, and that added to the pressure of trying to win as to dedicate the win had he finished the race to Roland and his team. I still have that VHS tape in storage and have no intention of watching it, but I have it for nostalgia and maybe someday I will
