It's so weird that people are using THESE two games to complain about Thassa's Oracle. Both players already had their win, what difference does it make to have everyone mill their libraries through brain freeze vs a thassa trigger? What difference is it when the Azami player has infinite mana and literally their entire deck? At that point they could do almost anything, Thassa is just the fastest way to say "I win," there. Ridiculous.

worst card in both games is probably forbidden orchard. I also would love to hear the reason giving tymna player with 3 mana ready to cast tymna a 1/1 spirit.

Yeah, I still see orchard all the time, and it’s not terrible, but I wonder if we’ve reached a critical mass of other lands to not need to entertain its drawback.
@flameberga
@flameberga 2 жыл бұрын
@@johnbarrie447 it's not that bad, I can see the merit of having another 5c land in najeela deck, but I'll probably not include it in midrange decks, especially which want to hit people for effects. I'm more concerned about the reasoning giving tymna player free 1/1 on empty board. Maybe it outweighs the possibility of codie saccing it for a ritual? who knows

That was more like being able to cast as Nauseum and no one having an answer, and hitting all the necessary cards to storm off and have the ability to have chain of vapor to remove the dauthi, and having just enough opponents enchantments and artifacts in play to have dockside give just enough treasures to play underworld breach , and being able to cast enough spells during the turn to mill yourself with brain freeze, and hit the LED to grave. Don’t undermine the gameplay of a good player and (and a little bit of luck) to make it seem like a brainless Thassa’s Oracle Win. I know many people who would mess up their lines in that situation, some just don’t want to admit it.

As a cedh Marwyn player, I do not approve of Cal's Deck list but would love to see his lines of Cloudstone play. 24 land creature storm is the way to go. Win with aetherflux, triumph of the hordes, Ezuri, layline of abundance, Joraga warcaller, concordant crossroads, craterhoof or Cloudstone Curio.

You almost never see someone stopping a Thassa's Oracle with a "target player draws a card" effect, right? Why is that?
@DarkEinherjar
@DarkEinherjar 2 жыл бұрын
Probably because many of those effects are sorcery speed (and thus can't be used to stop Thoracle) and/or aren't worth the deck slots.

How does the prosper’s doomsday list work?
@SamuelKacerik
@SamuelKacerik 2 жыл бұрын
Copied from primer: You can turbo Doomsday out with Final Fortune or other ways to draw. The non-turbo pile requires us to have Prosper on board, but he acts as a way to crack the pile: Step 1: Have Prosper, Tome-Bound on Board, and access to BBBRR Step 2: Cast Doomsday. Stack the pile as such: Final Fortune>Jeska's Will>Twinflame>Dualcaster Mage>Lion's Eye Diamond (Or whatever flavor card you want)) Step 3: Go to end of turn. Prosper triggers, exiling Final Fortune. Cast Final Fortune in the End step, generating a treasure. Step 4: Begin your next turn, drawing Jeska's Will. Cast it, exiling the rest of your pile and possibly generating mana. Step 5: Cast and crack LED for mana. Step 6: Cast Twinflame, targeting Prosper. Holding priority, cast Dualcaster Mage. It enters the battlefield targeting Twinflame. It creates a copy. Step 7: The copy of Twinflame targets Dualcaster Mage. A copy of Dualcaster Mage enters the battlefield, targeting Twinflame. It creates a copy. The copy of Twinflame targets Dualcaster Mage. A copy of Dualcaster Mage enters the battlefield, targeting Twinflame. It creates a copy. The copy of Twinflame targets Dualcaster Mage. A copy of.. Step XYZ : Swing with an obscene amount of hasty Dualcaster Mages to end your opponents.

Thassa's Oracle should be banned
@FreddieFevens
@FreddieFevens 2 жыл бұрын
I really think that cEDH is way to reliant on thassa’s oracle for winning. The constant threat that UUB could win the game just makes the format stale *IN MY OPINION*.
@laicuan1
@laicuan1 2 жыл бұрын
There's alot of decks that don't use Oracle, but what people don't understand is CEDH is about winning, not playing a long strung out game for funsies. And oracle/demonic con/tainted pact is super efficient and perfect for it.
@FreddieFevens
@FreddieFevens 2 жыл бұрын
@@laicuan1 your point is not supported by other bans. Think about the issue that was flash. People agreed that the prevalence of it made other strategies not viable. This is echoed in thassas oracle in my opinion. The problem isn’t “fast kills” its the fact that its always run in decks that have black and blue.
@laicuan1
@laicuan1 2 жыл бұрын
@@FreddieFevens you said cedh was "way too reliant" on oracle when in reality in a true cedh game oracle is at its weakest (cedh tends to run more counter magic) the problem with it are the people who slam it into any u/b deck and bring it to non-cedh games. Just look at game one in this video, dude didn't need to oracle to win, he could have just used brain freeze on everyone else and mill their whole decks, and in game 2 the azami player didn't need oracle, all he had to do was drop a lab man or a jace to win.
@FreddieFevens
@FreddieFevens 2 жыл бұрын
1. Milling out other people is less safe than milling yourself out. A shuffle titan or other relevant effect could cause issues. 2. If you use lab man or jace, it leaves you more vulnerable to instant speed removal and requires you to draw meaning that thassas oracle is better. 3. I don’t get your argument in saying they had other ways to win. They chose thassas oracle which meant it was their best choice making it even MORE ubiquitous. Another point being that if everyone runs out of interaction, a player in a privileged position can just take the win undeservingly. *IN MY OPINION* thats lame.
@laicuan1
@laicuan1 2 жыл бұрын
@@FreddieFevens I was pointing out that just because oracle is an option doesn't mean the other ways to win aren't viable. Oracle is just more efficient. And as shown in this video twice they won "the hard way" with oracle, not using demonic consultation or tainted pact. Just because it's good doesn't mean it's ban worthy. Just gotta have that rule 0 talk at the start. The store I play at has banned oracle and as a result I switched my kess oracle deck to an Inalla wizard chess deck with a 20+ step combo to win that only needs 4 mana and a Spellseeker to win and makes the games way less fun because u gotta watch me tutor 7+ times and reanimate 5+ times and waste 15 mins.
