Hello Rick, the rack looks great. Yes black should be available as well as silver. Glad it doesn't produce any more road noise. I guess gas mileage is effected slightly because of additional drag. I don't have a need for a rack like this but if I did I could see buying one. Price seems reasonable as well. We had some tornadoes, about 7, north of me starting about this time yesterday. It was north and east of me. Did a lot of damage including destroying a large car dealership. Also at the shore on LBI above Atlantic City. Quite unusual around this area!

I just put a Rino Rack on the 2021 Crosstrek a couple of weeks ago. All steel and powder coated .. for $275 was well worth it. Tried to send a pic to the email address you have listed but it didn't go. Now I've raised it 2", added the aluminum skid plate and have the Toyo All Terrains on .. have a KZbin video of the Trek doing the Shafer Trail in Moab .. it's under my name 'Al Maurine' .. enjoy your videos and seeing what your doing! 🤠

@@AZdroptop Back from my month long trip to Minnesota .. son married off and all that's done. Had the time to get some numbers for mileage and all .. I got 27.5 mpg as a overall mileage after about 3500 miles that I did. The roof rack does cost me a mile or two but figure it's worth it for the added storage. The rack does make noise but only at certain wind angles and if you have the radio on you'd not notice it. Only casualty of the trip was my thermorest mattress .. got a hole! Retired that mattress and got a better one .. hopefully! On KZbin just type in my name Al Maurine .. I only have two videos. Also Google 'Al Maurine Ford Explorer' there are a couple of articles written on my Ford.

Hi Rick I had posted a comment on your other video for the crossbars and I referenced the long bolts and plastic thumb screws for securing the basket to the crossbars. I just wanted to comment here on this video as it is the one that shows the parts and steps for assembly and for securing the basket to the rails. I ordered and received the basket and unboxed it and although it’s not listed the included assembly instruction booklet, there are 8 additional bolts that come in the hardware parts bag, pre-threaded onto the rectangular sliding nuts. These are shorter than the bolts that are threaded with the plastic Thumb Screws. I don’t see these shorter bolts on the video when you display all the parts in the box. My guess is these are now included if the long bolts are too long and the clearance of the bolt is too close to the rooftop.

Nice review, but it needs a lot more pictures of the rack, especially from the viewpoint of someone standing next to the car. I'm not going to be seeing it much from a drone's perspective. Also, I'd like closeups and measurements of the mounting hardware.

Hi Rick. I actually like this rack. It's very affordable. Just wondering how is the quality at this low price? Also, I have brackets for traction board, do you think I can mount on this rack? Or spare tire bracket, and roof box? Thank you.

Hello, I think the rack is good for the money. Not super heavy duty, but strong enough to hold a spare tire or a couple of heavy suitcases. I think the spare tire and traction board would fit, but I honestly don't know what the brackets look like so I am not sure how it would work. BougeRV is very responsive to questions so give them a shout. Best of luck and thank you for watching.

Hello i'm wondering if the slide in bolts on Rail one and five go in the way you put them in with rounded side facing up or they go in the way Bougerv video shows the with the flat side facing up .... I recently purchase one and not sure .. i will be contacting them soon

It has been awhile since I made the video so I would go with what they show in their video. At the time I felt like had followed their directions, but knowing how I goof stuff up now and then I man have done it wrong. :). Best of luck and hope you enjoy the rack.

I've never been keen on carrying anything on the roof other than a ladder or 4m lengths of pipe. I think if running out of space was a regular thing, I'd rather invest in a 7ft trailer. As for the roof carrier basket, I didn't like the way those long bolts stuck out beneath the securing knobs and the factory accessory cross-bars just fit better, even if they are quite expensive.

Hey Nick, hope you are well and nice to hear from you. I would agree on the bolts and actually thought about trimming them a bit, but I don't drive the car all that much these days. I do like the factory crossbars and like the aero look of them, but like that the BougeRV ones are flat across the top. A bit better for the bike racks.

I use mine to mount solar panels. The rack/basket has a purpose.

Rick, How would the bag hold up with 24/7 use on top of a van rv to store a spare tire?

My son has been storing his spare up there lately with no issues, but unfortunately it has not been long term. I think it would work for you, but it is not a heavy duty basket. If you want the option for a spare and other stuff you might go with something a bit heavier duty.

How do you like living out in AZ? Everyone always says its scorching hot… But is it as bad as they say it is?

I actually love it here down in Tucson and don't really mind the heat for the most part. I have been here pretty much all of my life so I am used to it and don't care for the cold all that much. It really isn't bad other than June to September and the winters are really mild. It freezes a couple times a year and we get a little bit of snow now and then in Tucson, but not much. The other good thing is we normally do not have much in the way of humidity other than during the monsoons which we are having an amazing one this summer. Over 8 inches of rain in July..a new record.
