I love her passion & her music but most of all I admire her voice. She says whatever the fuck she wants when she wants. I would argue that despite her surroundings trying to take away her agency she fires back and protects it. She is actively distinguishing her own self-agency and for that, I will support her no matter what. And with all women of color is sucks, at the stage she sits on her ability to make choices and speak freely doesn't afford her the same desired outcomes as a white male. And It's unfortunate what the media does to people who are willing to say things against the status quo. Think about it billion's of people exist on this offline world yet take a look at the ferocity of the online media that seeks to undermine this young lady. Why is the media so passionate on making her a demon child? Of all the users.. fuck it why not report and examine unbiasedly (as the media should) what she's sharing. @Xyzeezeezee8 жыл бұрын
+Harrison Threadgill, of course, she alienates some her fans, even the ones closely aligned with her own identity. And that's what I mean, she'll say 3 things where I'm rooting for her and do or say another where I'm completely dismayed but I would still argue that that's the beauty of her. She's said things in the past that really made me say "enough girl, it's time you focus on your music." And then I say to myself hold up, Artists are placed on these platforms in order to distract us from having some real conversations. Why is "showing her personal prejudice" a crime. We all walk with some prejudice even the marginalized and I believe it is through these conversations with one another that can help reduce the prejudice's we carry from our raised environments. She may not always articulate her point the best but I can see that she's always striving for new information and is always willing to share with her audience where her mind is at. Ask any performer to speak freely for what they believe in and they'll be looking straight at their publicist for an escape as to not shake any feathers.
@harrisonthreadgill83088 жыл бұрын
+Zee P +Zee P I get it and I like what you said. I'm just disappointed that she's using a shitty stereotype to describe a group of people it kinda makes me sad. But at the same time I don't think she's a bad or dumb person. She meant to say it's not okay for gay white men (which idk how this applies to only white dudes) to treat women with disrespect just because they're not attracted to them and people are okay with it because they feel like white gay men are different than straight men/gay men of other races. Instead she said all white gay guys act like the same shitty person. She's still a great artist but she is wrong at that point. It's true everyone does have prejudice but they should really strive to look past that and realize that it's wrong to describe thousands of people as one person. (Not saying you don't know that.)
@Xyzeezeezee8 жыл бұрын
Harrison Threadgill Yeah the generalization isn't the best. Azealia shouldn't demean and write off an entire group. On the flip side generalizing may be the best under this circumstance (this interview) to illustrate her point. She is speaking from her own experiences and --back to generalizing-- implicating anyone who identifies as a gay white male. I can only wish that due to her out spoken-ness someone will challenge her notions and maybe have her re-think or maybe reassert her own. Point is the free flowing of thought is admirable. Thanks for this open dialogue as well! =)

+Edwin Vazquez AMEN, I agree. I'm a gay Latin man, and white gays are my Hell.
@kyleg46898 жыл бұрын
+Kira Highwind I feel like this happens due to cultural reference points. Most young gays in the media are white and portrayed as overly opinionated and crass without reprisals. Especially if you look at examples from 1990s and early 2000s the white gay characters on TV were able to speak on any social group in any way they wanted and the conversation and analysis would never go any deeper than "Oh how amazing to see a gay person on TV" Young white gay men see these portrayals and end up mirroring this behavior. I hope as the scope of LGBT community comes more and more into the spotlight this issue will be highlighted and addressed.
@EdwinVazquez41198 жыл бұрын
+Kyle G i disagree, i believe white gay men want to be oppressed and feel as though the "oppression" they feel gives them the right to comment about or to even discriminate other oppressed groups such as blacks and women when they themselves fail to check their privilege as white men. White gays first need to understand that their experience as white gays will NEVER be equal to the experience of any other race of homosexual let alone any other type of oppressed group. Im not saying their struggles are not valid but by comparison its a walk in the park.

I'm gay, AND OH NO IM WHITE! I don't fucking disrespect any-fucking-one and I fucking hate how people generalize gays, and anyone for that matter. The only gay guys that disrespect women are the overly femme gay (which fucking annoy me btw), I would say I'm feminine but I ones that go around saying "YYYAAAASSS", are the ones that give us a bad name and why we have a generalization. I'm so over it. now shut the fuck up.

Hana Alili what are you even talking about ?- I just said hispanics/latinos do it all the time and I've personally done it myself many of times. It hasn't turned me nor many others into serial killers or animal killers. Nor does it have anything to do with demons. If anything the egg cleansing is meant to get rid of bad energy, 'mal de ojo' or even curses and sickness.
