Video summary: - Produced naturally in the skin - Limits melanin production - Helps for hyperpigmentation, dark spots, acne, skin texture - Is anti-inflammatory - Plays well with other ingredients/actives and is well-tolerated by most people (may tingle initially though) - Is not photo-unstable so can be used in the morning before sunscreen

For those who don’t know how to use ordinary azelaic acid follow these steps: during pm time apply moisturizer first and then after apply the azelaic on top then during am time apply moisturizer again and azaelaic then follow with spf. I recommend this azelaic to everyone who’s suffering from hyperpigmentation and irritation because it have helped my face so much and my face is happy. The side of darks pots it’s not that effective to my opinion, I need something stronger for clearing the remaining dark spots hope this will be helpful to those who are suffering with hyperpigmentation and dark spots too.

Love the Paula’s Choice azaleic acid! It has salicylic acid too. I had a pimple that would not go away or mature for months. Once I started using it, the pimple mature and came out to the surface and now is long gone. It helped a lot with my hyperpigmentation although I also attributed the improvement to my hyperpigmentation to arbutin(Ordinary) and vit C (TruthTreatments) that I used.

Azelaic acid is such a wonderful ingredient yet Sephora only sells it in one product: the ordinary azelaic acid suspension. And the ordinary is online only so for me being a beauty advisor helping WOC find products for hyperpigmentation, it makes it very tricky. Hyram sent me here and I’m so excited!!! I also just received The Ordinary’s Azelaic acid about a week ago, and I can already see a tremendous difference in my skin. I have dry skin, and I don’t suffer from breakouts, but I do have PCOS which causes hirsutism, and inevitably for coarse hair, ingrowns. This is the main source of my hyperpigmentation, which is mostly little spots on my chin, jaw area, and sideburn area. Azelaic acid has helped me more in the one week that I’ve been using it than any other skincare product I’ve ever tried. I’m open to any other recommendations you have, and I’m so happy to be a new subscriber! 🤗❤️🤗 Edit: I’m so glad I watched your video, because I was only using this product on my problem areas, but now that I know that it does so much more, I’m going to start using it all over! I use it in the morning with niacinamide, and I use niacinamide and CeraVe’s retinol at night. I use sunscreen every day, all year long, or I try to run my errands before 8 am or after 6pm. I can’t wait to see more progress!!!

Thank You for your channel Dr. A Black Dermatologist is an Absolute God send !!!I’m so glad to have stumbled upon your channel. Dr. I suffer from Rosacea. Or as I call it, the devil. It has taken my beautiful complexion and destroyed it. The constant breakouts leave me with hyperpigmentation spots all over my face. Since receiving my diagnosis from a dermatologist, (a black dermatologist here in Pittsburgh) I’ve spent a ton of money. I’ve done DIY, Korean skin care. I even have RX medication that I haven’t used because of what I’ve researched (differin) because of a purge that can last for months. Please discuss this hateful condition. And what I can do. Thank You.

I’ve been using 15% Finacea foam along with licorice root extract and it helps my redness and rosacea quite a bit. But didn’t know I could use my vitamin C at the same time under it. So thanks for that tip

Thank you so much! I would love a weekly routine for hyper pigmentation to clear up how frequently chemical exfolients should be used, and how many should be combined at once! I've noticed sometimes it seems like we should use retinoid, vitamin c, alpha arbutin, and azalaic acid at once? Thank you again for all of your wonderful videos!

Hi again dr. 😊 I just wanted to say that I tried the ord. azelaic acid after you recommended it (not to me personally lol) in the maskne vid for irritation. I had some lifestyle acne on my right cheek that had been stinging and super persistent. I applied the azelaic acid two alternate nights-super drying-but so incredibly helpful. I follow with ord HA+B5 and aloe gel. My painful stubborn irritation has about 90% gone. 🥰 THANK YOU 🙏🏽

Okay! I think I can finally admit that you saved my life!! Wellll my facial life. Lol. I have learnt so much from you. I suffered from hormonal acne due to PCOS. My face was breaking out daily, with mostly whiteheads but I also have a lot hyperpigmentation from said acne. Thus, I started looking like a Dalmatian. As someone who never had teenage acne, I was so frustrated as nothing seemed to work. Then lo and behold I stumbled upon your channel. This video was so informative and I learnt a lot. I stopped using glycolic acid; I only exfoliated twice a week; I switched up my routine; I started using Alpha Arbutin; I changed my sunscreen to physical; and the list goes on. Lol....In the end, I haven't had a breakout in 2 weeks! I was amazed. Initially I had low expectations but adding azelaic acid to my routine was a Godsend. I use the Ordinary's azelaic acid and I ordered 2 backups. I have no regrets. Thank you, thank you, thank you!! Keep up the good work and keep the videos coming.

I recently started using The Ordinary’s Azelaic acid suspension. I was surprised how gentle it works on my skin since I’ve experienced tingling or burning from Mandelic acid/lactic acid/glycolic acid/Retin A. I’m really loving it so far 😍☺️
