Most recent we got some reveals from 10.0.7. that changed quite a bit of the lore. There was a soft confirmation that a 5th Old God exists and we only really know 4 of them, N'Zoth, Yogg-Saron, C'Thun and Y'Shaarj. Even more importantly we learned that the titans didn't order Azeroth as we had believed and that they had hidden something beyond the waves.
Wow Chronicle told us that the titans had saved Azeroth just before the void had corrupted it but what if that is a lie and the Old Gods were actually successful and the titans tried to undo the corruption but were never fully successful. Could this be THE biggest titan secret that we are yet to discover?

That's why everyone and everything is trying to conquer it. It literally is the one thing in the whole universe that can tip the balance. I wonder if planet souls aren’t titans right off the bat like the Chronicles claim, but instead are blank slates, where other cosmological beings (titans, void lords, etc) can change into on of their own. But Azeroth, having encountered all of these cosmological forces, is some sort of chimera of all the different cosmological forces. With the powers of light, void, fel, death, order, chaos, etc.

I'm calling it now, Azeroth will be revealed to be a First One. It makes sense when you think about it. Azeroth has properties from all entities of the cosmological spectrum. The first beings to inhabit it were elementals, it has empowered blood/essence thats akin to Old God's but also is closely linked to Anima; It has some kind of world soul like the titans, seeing as Magni is able to communicate with it; It can accomodate large amounts of fel and light energies without the planet dying like Draenor did; and Its capable of being connected to the Emerald Dream. Just an opinion, though.

I believe Azeroth is not named after Azathoth, rather based off the book Fires of Azeroth. I had read it was a big inspiration for Metzen when creating the Warcraft lore. The book is even about otherworldly beings invading the world through a stone portal.

It's the same story from Marvel with Celestials, Eternals and Deviants. The Celestials use energy, they created the Deviants and Eternals, they battle each other, they help human race or other races to grow and after some years, a celestial is born from the center of the world and that world destroyed. And in that case too the Celestial that needs to be born from our planet is Tiamut, the Dreaming Celestial. And for some reason, he is not to be born, but to be reborn, because he was put in a prison by his brothers. And there too, if a planet is infused with evil, that energy flows to The Horde. The Horde is the opposite force to Celestials, they are a force of creation, the Horde is one of destruction. They both follow this cycle. So if they go this way, Azeroth being a 5th Old God, she is still sleeping, but she is infused with Old Gods energy, but Titans want her to be born as a Titan with infusing her with Order magic.

Azeroth could also be a blank canvas of a world soul. Some kind of „protoform“. It could become anything, given enough time and influence. So a little nudge from the Old gods in the beginning could have been enough to „paint it void“ and the Titans had to put in more time and influence to „paint it orderly“ but they themselves were not sure of the result. It IS powerful and it could be possible for it to tip the scales in favor of any cosmological force. This would be the reason why everyone wants to get his/her fingers/tentacles on it. Azeroth could also be a „seed“ of some sort, maybe even something related to the first ones, like a legacy, or the beginning of their rebirth cycle? (They did something like that in Star Craft 2 with the Xel‘naga.)

If we went by Blizzard's standards on cosmological beings like in Starcraft for example, maybe Azeroth isn't thoroughly corrupted but will be a hybrid being of sorts. personaly I think the old gods/void lords are not even as bad as the titans are, you se the old gods, doesnt kill you, unless you oppose them in anyway or form, would they controll you yes they would, but at same time they would let you live, they might not care if you live or die, but the titans again, if they notice you are working with the old gods, they would kill you with no questions asked, this was the same with the aspects, where you in anyways or form not working with them you where against them, even if you had not done anything to them, you could say this happen even with Razageth and the rest who did not want to work with the titans, this might have happend with the old gods also, but not unless the protodrakes would have attacked them, but instantly when they did oppose the titans they where enemies.

lots of theories on azeroth herself add in the problem of retcons and its a bit up in the air, for example it was once stated in lore that azeroth absorbed all of the spirit magic on azeroth and that spirit magic was the strongest magic in the universe of warcraft causing the elementals to fight eachother because it was the spirit magic that soothed there primal natures this even before the old gods landed/crashed on azeroth. Another theory is that she is the "final titan" this is from mop expac. I mean order does corrupt. Just not in the same way as the void or fel does. While void or fel corruption messes your body and psyche up, order corruption makes you shortsighted, uncreative, arrogant and drains you from any adaptability. Order is all about "Things have to go a certain way". And such mindsets come with elitism and no flexibility. Which can be considered order corruption. So Order could be seen as "good" power but still it corrupts with longer exposure. As much as druids who grow animalistic features like horns or feathers are clearly corrupted by nature and paladins/priests who are overzealous in their belief that they cant allow any "heresy" in their sight are clearly light-corrupted which goes as far aswe have the lightforged. One of the four "principles" of arcane magic is not without reason "Power is corruptive". That applies to any magic. Fel, Deathmagic and Void are considered much more violent and dangerous. But that also stems because of two big aspects: All of those powers have been used primarely in malicious intend. And those powers arent studied enough to actually utilize them safely. Given the history its understandable but also fatal. How can you fight something you dont understand well enough?

There’s multiple sides to choose from in a war. It’s like choosing a faction (Horde or Alliance). Sure, Titans can be the “Goodguys” in your eyes. But in another players eyes, they are the somewhat “Badguys”. It’s just perspective. Just like in real life People support Putin or the president in America. Not every one is supposed to be sided by one force. Same for the lore wankers: We know a lot more things now then we did in the past, some altered our way of thinking. Same for the WoW lore. Player clinge to Old WoW lore-Titties and aren’t welcoming changes in Lore, like that’s literally what happends in the real world all the time. People believed in Zeus and Hades back in the days but now we know it’s fcking bullshit. So, Lore changes wether people like it or not

Some people may believe in God as a benevolent being, granting humanity its life. Which has been tainted by Satan. Others may see God as a selfish being, creating beings just to look at himself with pride while Satan liberated one of those species i.e. humanity. I'm much more in the latter example. And that I would also see about the titans. Because there are so many similarities. Humans, dwarves, gnomes, mogu, tolvir and anubisath may have been titan creations. But those creations were just mindless machines. As much as the humans in the paradise were nothing more like glorified pets. And Yogg'Saron made them mortal and gave them life. And all the good and bad aspects on it. As much as Satan gave the humans in paradise actual life with all the hardships, all the love and an end to it. So many similarities

It's lining up that happened to Argus, and what we are being told about Dragons, is also true for Azeroth herself. The cosmological map spells it out very succinctly, 6 cosmic magics on the larger level but at the base level, that of simply being a blank-slate shall we say, is elemental magics. Creatures are naturally "existing" as elemental in nature, but with enough time and exposure are aligned to a given magic. Hence Argus, who I'm going to overlook the how that works why Death and not Disorder being of all the Fel not Death magic it was exposed to, but just take from it that it happened all the same. But because Azeroth is much more powerful then that of a single cosmic force, or because of every cosmic force bombarding it at the same time, we're going to find that the world is in harmony having gained boons from each one.

Nah I don't think Azeroth was corrupted by the Old Gods. I think Azeroth is the Progenitor of the Old Gods. It is beyond the Titan's Power to destroy so they tried to contain and change it's natural state. The Pantheon wanted to stop Sargeras because they know it couldn't be destroyed by force alone. And the damage he would cause (and he did) would weaken the devices they have in place.
