Most recent Steve Danuser interview offered us some insanely interesting hints. Apparently the Old gods as all beings of the void do not know anything about rigid hierarchies and that they are not the minions of the Void Lords that we have previously believed.
We had also learned that the Old Gods are know to change their plans on the fly meaning that while originally they might have been sent by the Void Lords they could have completely turned against them at this point. What could this mean for the future and could we see N'zoth trying to do his own thing and split away from other beings of the void?

i kinda stumbeled accros the experiments and the different types of elements. The major point why i text you on this way, is the question about the elemental Plain and lords of Spirit and decay. 4 out of 6 elements listed on the cosmic spreadsheet already got those. Ragnaros and the firelands, therazane and deepholm.. do you know what i mean? therefore we're missing 2 major elements and right now were starting to explore those too more ingame. Could the first ones have been the various lords? (Void lords, Order Lords, Chaos Lords, Light Lords, Life Lords, Death Lords), each existing outside reality in their own spheres. Could they have come together to create reality, then created the Titians(order), Old Gods(void), Naru (light), the Archons(death), Elune and her kind (life) (and another race we haven't met possibly existing in the twisting neither) to manage their machinery? Could they have then gone silent, and their creations have gone crazy, no longer being in contact with the first ones, and deciding to exert what they think their Lords wanted on Reality? This would make Soval kind of right? the warring between the titans and old gods should never have happened? Maybe what we are observing as a war between the Titans and Old Gods, is actually Abandoned Children thinking that if they turn reality towards what they believe their creators wanted, that they would return?

Since you mentioned how the infinite dragonflight doesn't want just one timeline, maybe that's his breaking point. We know the Old Gods want to to use this to force the Hour of Twilight but maybe Norzdomu has to make a choice that the titans would of forced for the "one true timeline" but he can't bring himself to do it like having to reset the planet or maybe having to sacrifice his friends.

I happen to run trough Uldir Last night and something really got me thinking; MOTHER at some point states (when entering Vectis’ Chamber): “Here we contain 1000 of the most viral strains found troughout the galaxy, all on alfabetical order..” What if there is this “unkown” force that utilizes Void power to become a much bigger, stronger version of themselves. Virusses have the need to replicate and devide and find new host to ensure their own survival. What if the Old Gods is one of these viral strains. G’huun was an “Old God” aswell created by the titans, but because G’huun isn’t exposed to Void powers, he just looks like a “regular” mutated virus, instead of an void-infused Monstrosity. Think about Dead Space Alien virus, especially “Brethren Moon”. Those ginormous viral creatures scavange troughout the Galaxy in search for planets with life to entirely devour them. Sounds very old gold like eh? What if this bigger threat are those known and unkown “Viral Strains” MOTHER was talking about? Which also can explain the current rise of Decay magic, since Decay is mostly represented in people halfway trough a zombie infection. They are half-alive, half-dead. Mostly caused by…. A Virus of some kind. 4 Old Gods Died at the Hands of mortals, hence why they maybe realized the Void aren’t as potent and powerfull as they previously realized. The Void can’t ensure the Old Gods’ survival anymore, maybe that’s the reason they are turning against the Void. Oh, one more thing: Old God > Ancient God. Could the currently known Old Gods be the true rulers of the Galaxy “X” amount of years ago? Could it be they are the true “First Ones”? Were the Old Gods beings of light first but turned to the Void side since void have always been the evil counterpart of Light? I always found it odd to name a monstrosity build of virus/flesh/void “Old God”. A God stands above a Titan, yet the Titans feel more godlike then the Old Gods. Really got me thinking..

My theory is the the OG aren't even being of avoid really. They 'serve' the void for now for who knows what internal reason but consider what they are. It was said here and everywhere. They see every timeline, every possibility, every every. That feels much more chaos that void. The Old Gods might very well be the true incarnated of Fel. Light has Naaru, Void has Void Lord's, Order has Titans. Fel never has had anything. The burning legion was their representation but were an ordered army formed from a broken order titan and his death lieutenants. The Old Gods fit that role much much better. Their infinite plans and perspective makes a lot more sense from that standpoint.

Not really, the void also can see all timelines. But i agree that Old Gods are not beings made by the void, they just use its powers like some warlocks use fel but does not serve it ect. Also each cosmic faction that has it gods usually represent the cosmic power perfectly. Order has Titans(basicly made of stone, ordered stone gods it makes sense) or Life has wild gods( god animals ect it also fits life). The void has void lords the only ones that havent been truly shown to have gods is Disorder and Light. Old Gods dont fit Fel, if anything Disorder would have Demon Gods as its representatives. My theory is(shout out to Accolonn cause i think he came up with this before i did) that the Old Gods are Azeroths children and i also believe Azeroth is THEE Old God(not a Titan), i also think she like her H.P. lovecraft counterpart dreamed our universe into existence. The Titans found her realized what she was and that if she woke up are universe would go poof( the cosmological forces may or may not be part of of her dream hard to tell). She is reality if everything goes poof the cosmic forces would have nothing to mold or fight over or they cease to exist, so the Titans reforged Azeroth effectively locking her up and keeping her in stasis and asleep. She is Azeroth the Dreamer all that she dreams becomes reality.

I think neither is true, i think old gods are her children, i also think she is THEE OLD GOD. She is Azeroth the Dreamer and she dreamed our Universe into existence, just like H.P. Lovecrafts Azazoth which she is based off of. This would also make sense why the Titans reforged Azeroth and put so many facilities there, its to keep her sleep because if she wakes reality in our universe will cease to exist. Sylvanis said it herself, "this world is a prison". Its a prison for Azeroth.

The thing that worries me about "the void" from a narrative point of view is that it gives the writers too much freedom to provide retcons within retcons. If it gets abused too much, it'll end up like a bad episode of Dr Who. Knowing hints about them won't help, because everything is always going to be up in the air until the very end. Their motivations, their history, their future, their hierarchy, alive, dead... all of those things can change and it doesn't have to make any logical sense. Couple that with the fact that they're still using the same writers that originally worked on Zovaal... I think you already know how this is going to go. It could get real annoying, real fast. Return of the 6D-chess gigabrain bullshit. I just hope they bring on better writers and developers before they start working on a light/void expansion. I'd hate to see that potential squandered, because it's the part of this game's lore that we know the least about. It's basically the last piece of the puzzle towards understanding the bigger picture (according to the cosmology chart we currently know).

For ones who is claimed to be so powerful as voidlords they still needed the OG to further their goals. Very true, but each cosmological whatever has elements to them. Life can be both Chaotic or Orderly, similar to the Light. Light can be Chaotic or Orderly, but we've mostly supported Orderly Light. In the case of Void, it can be disorderly or orderly, but more than likely disorderly as they're isolated from the Void Lords. I bet the Void Lords have some Order within them, else they wouldn't be Lords. We've even witnessed Orderly and Disorderly Death. Lich King Scourge (Orderly) vs Scourge without Lich King (Disorderly) vs Forsaken (Orderly). Orderly vs Disorderly Elementals, as-well.

What if the Old Gods actually are Void Lords? Like, what if the idea that Void Lords can't take physical form is a Titan meme? If such is the case, perhaps Void Lords simply prefer to not take physical form, as it leaves them more vulnerable, but the potential benefits of a physical form are alluring enough for some to take the risk and manifest themselves; by taking physical form, a Void Lord may directly influence reality and feed off a more abundant source of energy, becoming more powerful than those who remain in the Void - this would explain why the Old Gods were fighting over Azeroth, as each wanted to claim all that energy for themselves.

I like the idea that the old goods are kinda like the Titan keepers for the void lords, but that they are actually a piece of the void lord specifically. The void lords can't fully manifest in the realm of azeroth yet they can send a much smaller piece of themselves into the realm to be their avatar. Now this would be interesting since these beings might be able to create a portal for the void lord they are a aspect for to enter the realm when they devour the other old gods, and since they are merely a smaller aspect of the void lords it would not feel bad when it is reveal;ed that the next big bad is so much stronger as they are a miniature version of the same being, and would make sense honestly.

Just from this you could get that the current Blizzard doesn't know where the story should go. They just throw shiet to see which is the one that sticks. The fact that Old Gods battled between them is a notion borrowed from Warhammer 40K I guess, where the Chaos Gods are in constant battle between them in the Warp, only when somebody doesn't want the favour of one God in particulary, it becomes a person of Chaos Undivided and only then they will not battle each other in the warp.

Meh, sounds more like they just don’t follow orders 1:1 rather than they disobey the void lords inherently. I think it’s more of the dog eats dog stuff, and constant infighting but with a shared goal (like the demons in Diablo). One might be playing on rebelling, but I don’t think they’re currently doing it.

Till Battle for Azeroth we thought that the Old Gods could never truly be killed, since it would probably destroy the planet. And then, in Battle for Azeroth, they say that the Old Gods are dead for good. And then comes Dragonflight and apparently the Old Gods never truly died. Make up your mind Blizzard!

Being an RPer, I like the lore "from the Titan's perspective," because it's easier to keep things straight and (almost) canon. Nozdormu is the best friend of the RPer, so we don't go insane trying to write our character's backstory. But the Old Gods/Void Lords...I mean, Blizzard...keep retconning history. It would be very cool to see an expansion be just stuck in the middle of void lords and old gods fighting. At the same time the holy crusade gets mixed up in it and they are also clearly not on our side. So Alliance and Horde agree to essentially use Gorilla tactics to hinder all 3 sides as much as possible. Working with old gods, void lords and the light in hopes they all just crush each other to the point were we have a slight chance. Than bam allies from the shadowlands come in to help (undead are very effective against void lords and the light)

Old Gods were always a illusion of being really powerful. We killed C'thun in vanilla WoW and he was dead as dead can get. The reason Old Gods got sealed instead of all killed was because the one that did get killed by Titans was killed in dumbest way possible. So the Titans got too worried for planet to kill the rest.

Well it makes sense considering the old gods were out for themselves and were at war with each other. Despite them being on the “same side”. However messing with timelines has many implications. Like messing with the fabric of reality and by extension making reality unstable and possibly all timelines collapsing on itself. Considering you are punching holes in reality to other timelines, which creates other avenues of corruption. Which this is something that has been explored many times in fantasy, in some form or fashion. Since time as we know it now, is linear.

What would be really cool is if bliz would allow us to join them in the next expansion or the one after like we supposedly had a choice in bfa, but there is a catch if u do after a certain quest you loose your toon forever as it is now a minion of the void. Then, in the final raid, every toon that joined will be mobs in the raid with their appropriate name. Yes you loose a toon, but you would do it on an alt not your main
