We're 2005 Monaco Diamond Dynasty owners, hubby did his research for 6 mos. She is such a beautiful and well put together coach. The entire design, from top to bottom, interior and exterior are stellar in quality. We are long time campers and have owned tents, pop-ups, GMC Eleganza, pull-trailers, 5th wheels, and now, our forever home. You're spot on about this beauty. My husband is her best friend, he is very mechanically inclined and lives to make her better than ever. The upgrades in her electrical and aquahot systems will last another 20 years.

When talking about the cabinets and saying “ bemoan” I know what you mean. The craftsmanship on those cabinets can’t be beat today. Couple of years ago, I had my sights on a 2008 Monaco Camelot 42’ and the quality was also in that coach. Thanks for the in-depth discussion on these rigs. Whether you know it or not, you are allowing us to learn more about these rigs every time you show them. Keep it up.

As a mechanic myself, I agree with most everything that you mentioned about things to look for. We own a 2003 Dynasty and have owned it for the past 15 years. When we were looking to upgrade from our 1991 Beaver quality of chassis and build of the house were the items that I focused on which turned my attention more towards Monaco and Country Coach which were the only two manufactureres I was looking at back in 2006/2007. It took us 9 months to find this Dynasty that had everything we wanted and now after 15 years we still thoroughly enjoy the coach. For a 20 year old coach with 135k miles on it I would challenge anyone to find one of similar condition and quality of that era. Thanks for the video. Mike

Years ago I lived in a huge penthouse apartment with a massive kitchen and this kind of reminds me of that. I really like that coach a lot. For the age it does not look dated at all I can’t believe the layout is so open and the cabinetry is just amazing throughout!

Hi James. That's a beautiful, high quality coach. I think this is one of your best, overall informative videos ever and I agree with every single thing you said in this video. When my wife and I were looking to upgrade last year, I did a ton of research and pretty much everything you said is what I found as well. Hard to beat those Oregon build coaches. We ended up with exactly what you described as the "sweet spot", a 2007 Monaco/Holiday Rambler 45' Navigator w/tag, 4 slides and 525 Cummins, 50K miles. We absolutely love everything about it, inside and out. So pleased with the quality that is everywhere including how it rides, drives, handles, etc. We had owned a '05 41' DP Gulf Stream Atrium but only owned it for 8 months. I just was not happy with the overall quality, inside and out but then again it was more of an entry to mid level coach In all fairness when comparing it to the Gulf Stream.....I paid $55K for the GS and $150K for the Navigator so I guess it's all relative....you get what you pay for. Down the road, you should do a similar review of the Monaco Signature Series to show viewers all the features of the flagship, not that the Dynasty isn't quite the luxury coach itself. On a final note, I've said it a few times.....you really shouldn't be going up on the roof when it's 115 degrees out, and probably hotter on the roof, plus it's windy. People get overheated, dizzy and then it becomes a crisis. I turned 60 this year and my wife won't let me get on the roof any more but I do sneak up there every now and then. It stresses me out every time I see you so close to the edge. In any event, a totally awesome video and I think you are spot on. Be safe and take care!

This video just answered soooo many questions that I had about purchasing a used luxury RV. My wife and I are looking now and hoping to find one. Definitely looking for an Oregon built coach. I watched a video on the demise of Country Coach, it's auction, and facilities today. Premier RV seems like they have a solid business plan and it's nice they purchased both physical and intellectual product at the auction to maintain service to their customers. I think most employees working for a bankrupt manufacturer would have just walked away. These guys who worked decades for Monaco, Country Coach and Beaver actually care. You don't really see that anymore today.

I thought, " A Semi truck company is going to build Military vehicles AND RV's? that doesn't sound good. Everything had crashed and vultures were picking through the remnants of companies and I just thought, " I guess Navistar been visiting a lot of bankruptcy auctions. that mass buying never goes well...

Rusty is your a 42' tag axel? Ours drives like a dream, and the cabinetry is outstanding. New coaches pale in comparison. We had new flooring installed, had the dining room chairs recovered and my hubby built a televator for a tv behind the jack knife and replaced the sleeper with a double recliner, added MDC shades all around and I'll say it rivals any new coaches. Enjoy yours! Just watch the bottom of the slides. We had ours redone to be safe. Cheers!

I have removed the slide out trays to fit larger bins and save weight. And deleated the roof AC and replaced my AC with Miny splits mounted on the rear. I did this to reduce the number of openings in the roof when I had to redo the roof. Along with deleating all the antenas and dish and roof vents and skylight over the shower. It made the new roof WAY cheaper and faster to get put in. And the extra insulation where the vents and AC were is nice for keeping the hot and cold in or out when I want.

New to RVs and stumbled on your channel and really enjoy your vids. A few comments: 1) The roof “technology” for rvs is a frightening eye opener with all the sealer, seams, etc. It’s like bondo meets duct tape. This one the roof looked pretty good though. 2) I get vertigo when you film over the side and I’m thankful that there are people like you who can do that so easily! (Have you ever fallen?! 😳) 3) A 32 foot my seems way more reasonable and I like the big red one you showed in a previous email. 4) When are the complete electric RV’s this size coming out?

In 2009, Navistar bought "certain assets" of Monaco Coach Corp. which went bankrupt earlier that year. Among these assets were some partially completed motorhomes and chassis as well as parts. Some 2009 and later models, mostly Dynastys, were built on the left over Monaco Roadmaster Semi-monocoque chassis with Cummins engines, until around 2011. They never built more of the top-of-line Roadmaster "S" series chassis but did complete, or build, chassis of the "RR8" and "RR10" raised rail design; it was the same Roadmaster "RR" base chassis using Navistar engines and other components. When Navistar "flipped" Monaco over to another company (later called REV) all the latter got was documentation , spare parts and the Monaco Beaver and Holiday Rambler brand names. Some of the brand names were used in 2014 and later for "sister" coach models, which matched American Coach and Fleetwood models.

Hey! I’ve been thinking of living full time in an RV. Do you have any recommendations for something of this quality but in a shorter length? Something between 30-35 ft? I’m worried any more and I’d lose the ability to go most places. I love this one a LOT and that it has a washer, and the quality cabinets and everything.

I own a 2005 5thwheel I bought 2 two trucks that will not pull it. You need at least a 350 Ford Chassis for this Taz Mahal of a travel trailer with 3 tipouts. For TRADE or sell for best offer over $68,900

Did I mention it is an Alfa 5tb wheel.

At least an equivalent to 5.7 Triton,b10 cylinders to move it. I want a drivable in trade, willing to deliver within 150 miles, one way. Fly back to PHX.

This was super informative! We eventually will be in the market for a late model luxury and this really helped to know some details on the quality.

Really enjoy your RV reports. Particularly the “best RV’s and best RV years.” However I am surprised you didn’t mention any Newmar coaches. I’ve been thinking about Newmar’s from the same years. Is there a way for you to comment on those as well?
@AZExpert12 сағат бұрын
Newmar did a membrane roof on their motorhomes including diesels that is incredibly common to rot at the A/Cs during this era the beginning 2000s had very bland floorplans until 2010ish and the luxury ones of the mid 2000s used the worst multiplex system that I think makes them a bad choice. Maybe ther are built well but to this day, I think their slideout designs are awful and inexcusably bad for a 1.7 million dollar RV especially having rubber roofs on the slide outs and so many screws and trim on the box.

Know I am not you but everyone asks me to check it out because I am just good at it I check everything and here in the northeast they will tell you not to get on the roof but sorry I just enjoy watching you do your thing.

We have the same coach but in the 43Queen Ralph Lauren. Ours happens to be very special, Monaco made 26 modifications for us and numbered ours 1 of 1 Limited Edition. One thing for sure, if you are not mechanically inclined, don't buy a motorhome, any motorhome. There is always something that needs attention and dealer repair cost take a lot of fun out of ownership. So do it yourself and know your coach. It is a life style to enjoy........

04 Monaco Windsor here. Had it for eight years. Put 70,000 miles on it so far.

I’m sure the word will get out and everyone on the Monaco forums will be watching this video. Good job and well edited. I think some older than 2005 on the Oregon built Roadmaster’s Monaco’s would fit the bill also.

What are your thoughts on the 2005 holiday rambler ambassador? It’s got the 8.3L Cummins with 59k miles.

James, I love your videos. Very informative. Maybe it’s the angle of the camera but I wish you would be more careful around the edge of the roof inspection. As a prior aircraft maintenance safety inspector I dealt with a lot of cases of injury related to falls. Please be careful. Keep up the good work.

Thanks for sharing, great info, I just took delivery of my "Oregon build" last November...an "Arctic Fox" travel trailer. I was set to purchase a 08' country coach affinity 45 which was beautiful but when I started asking the rv parks I frequent about the rig, it was too big! Thought the pre buy out "American Coach" would be on the list?
