Vein ripper should be exiled though because he let wandering emperor minus and then target the ward trigger happens sacrificing the token so biter triumph doesn’t work there

The ward trigger goes on the stack, so you can cast something in response, and destroying the token makes it so that the ability gets countered.

UW player missed a lot of lines. Game 1 out was quick study maybe find get lost, make token with wanderer and then kill vein ripper. Still a shitty spot but an out nonetheless.

Ward is a trigger that goes on the stack. With that on the stack, he Bitter Triumphs the only creature Garrison controls. Garrison then has no creature to sacrifice to pay the Ward trigger. They did everything correctly.

Yeah if he wanted to do this, he has to respond to activating the Emperors not the ward payment
