A 5 hour discussion of my Boi is definitely worthy of a sub... I'm just a humble scrub getting bodied... trying to get this game going in my local arcade... it's a steam cabin and between this game and GGAC+R have my attention at the moment

Thank you for these. I really struggle with some of these matchups even when I shouldn't (like against Terumi) so I hope to incorporate some of this information.

2:23:59 Nah mate, I will gladly take CF2 Kokonoe over CP1.0 Kokonoe. From what I know of, CP1.0 Koko was just braindead to play since you could get one good combo, get the 50 meter, and then put them into Black Hole into GGs shake my hand because nearly everyone in the game couldn't get out of it. Not to mention her being released unfinished and actually feeling like they didn't play test her before releasing her. As for the Azrael matchup, he gets the benefit of having 12K health over her 10.5K health which does give him a bit of survivability and dealing fuck huge damage (just not to the lengths of the cat he's fighting). Growler can be a pain in the ass to deal with since both Banishing Rays and Flame Cage will give him Phalanx stocks which lets him snipe her if she tries to set up anything. He also has the benefit of Kokonoe not having a meterless reversal to call out his pressure as often, forcing her to rely on instant blocking and general Azrael pressure knowledge to take her turn back. A couple of his buttons can be a pain in the ass to deal with such as 5B, 5C, 6C for being able to high profile our 3C, j.B, and j.2C to name a few can give Koko some trouble when approaching him. However, his slow movement speed means he has to take risks when he has the disadvantage. A bad Gustav in neutral can send him flying right into a trap for big damage, and Koko can bait Azrael into using Growler by simply changing a Graviton's position whenever she has a fireball out. Likewise a bad Activate can lead to Kokonoe getting Counter Hit into big damage herself, and overly setting up while Azrael has Phalanx stocks can get rid of everything she has out. Like the thing with Kokonoe when she fights slower characters, they usually have something to help them put the pressure on her to get in/give them an advantage. Hakumen has his passive meter gain and Fuumajin when he cuts a projectile, Tager has magnets and Spark Bolt which recharges, Nine has Navy Pressure and her spells, Kagura has his fireballs/stance buttons. Azrael? Outside of Phalanx which requires him to absorb a projectile with Growler and Gustav, he doesn't really have anything threatening to force Koko to be like "Oh shit I better not auto-pilot" at full screen. A good Kokonoe will wait for the Azrael to do something (usually Gustav or Growler), occasionally putting out a Graviton and using Banishing Rays as a wall to deter him from approaching, while using buttons such as 3C, 6A, 5C for example to control the screen. Yeah, he gets Phalanx but he only gets 3 of them at max and once he uses them up, he has to absorb another projectile to get more. Granted, if a Kokonoe starts auto-piloting (i.e., throwing out fireballs and just turtling), she will get punished hard for it. The fucked up thing is that ALL of Azrael's meterless reversals (and OD>EA) lose to 2B regardless if he delay techs or not. Her oki leaves her just outside of Growler so she won't get Counter Hit by it, Panzer gets low-profiled and will usually lead to a ToD with full resources, and Sentinel being the bootleg of the bunch can be hit out of it with the second hit of 2B (or you can just cancel into 5B to hit him out of it). HIS ONLY two reversals that can guarantee a hit are Scud and Patriot. but he gets nothing on landing Scud and Patriot is locked behind Astral Heat restrictions. GT just deletes him, but that's just the nature of Golden Tager in general. Either you force her to spend the burst to get out of a bad situation, or you get opened up and eat 8K+ damage and lose. This is a very volatile/snowbally match-up but despite all of that, it's a match up that I love playing because Kokonoe and Azrael have the goofiest interactions with one another. Plus I love Azrael's confirms so much, he can create some beautiful combos. Anyway thanks for listening to my TED Talk.

I definitely enjoy fighting ya. It's fun but being checked in the air by her can feel awful at times 😂 Also yes literally was not play tested which lead to her cp 1.0 nonsense. Appreciate the write up, went into it in a bit more detail than I did.

@@DanteRadgroove Don't worry, I feel that pain too. Mirror match Koko makes realize how much of a menace her air buttons are. We gotta do some sets soon man. The Azrael matchup is something I've gotten so used to playing that it's becoming easier to figure out what to do against him. Yeah, it's why I generally believe CF1 and CF2 did a better job at balancing Kokonoe than CP 1.1 and CPEX. A lot of CP's balancing choices for her ranged from bug fixes such as non-OD Black Hole actually going off screen when used in the corner (not like it mattered since Koko mains at the time just adjusted the setup spacing), to "Holy shit none of my basic routes are universal and half of my buttons are buggy as shit". Not to mention how Gravitons in CPEX just felt clunky overall, she just wasn't fun to fight nor fun to play as.

Don’t buy into the Lambda downplay. After my copium she’s only a mid tier at best… still loses to Az though
