I love the the lore tab for this version of luna's howl. For those that don't know luna was a dog that got killed by the hive and you can see her grave at a vex gate on the moon. The lore tab for this version says that Shaxx gave Josef(luna's owner) a box with 2 war beasts puppies in it.

I friggin love this thing on controller. I've always liked hand cannons but didn't like the recoil pattern of them aside from on 180s. Luna's Howl shoots like a dream for me- I just wish it could roll Firefly.

This is because hand cannons aren't flinch friendly. You occasionally have to ads to correct your aim with them otherwise bullet magnetism will not be in your favor.

Yup. Been wishing there was a Heliocentric hand cannon for PvE, and here came LH. Solo content is so much better on my poor hunter. Trash actually 1-taps, so if you're hurting you can save yourself with a little cover and a couple yeah mobs. I ran wayyyy too many solo que Onslaughts, but now she's mine.

Heal clip+MH is the better all around roll for pvp and pve while slideshot is better for dueling in PvP albeit a terrible gimmick in 1v insert number more than 1 here. Slideshot is good on paper but terrible in practice considering the current meta.

The funny thing is that OG MagHowl was really strong in PvE and slept on by most. It was like only hitting 2 precision shots gave a 50% boost in damage or something until you got a kill and could be continuously re-procced on beefier targets. People just focused on the Maghowl twins ruining Console PvP for months.

My best guess for an enhanced Mag Howl is just a small stat boost, probably to either Stability or Range. Given how powerful the perk is, I doubt they’d go as far as to give it more stacks on difficult targets.

I’m not a crucible player and I’m not a HC user in PvP but I tried an eye of the storm/opening shot roll with hammer forged/ricochet rounds and I was actually doing great. It actually surprised me. I was on PS5 as well.

This roll is goated and no one is talking about it. Opening shot is fantastic on lunas, it’s the only perk aside from maybe slide shot that extends the weapons range, and gives an insane amount of aim assist. Eye of the storm also helps a lot in duels.

I’ve had Luna’s Howl attuned since the day it rereleased. The only roll I really wanted was Heal Clip + Incandescent. It took me until last earlier this morning and probably 200 drops between Onslaught and Brave Weapon Chest drops. Honestly I had lost hope it would drop prior to Final Shape. Going to spend the last 2 days trying for a Cascade Point Bait and Switch Edge Transit. A shiny would be nice but I’d be satisfied with the Cascade roll to go with my Envious+Bait and Switch Roll.

Something I want to mention about enhanced incandescent that isn’t mentioned enough, is that additionally to increased the amount of scorch stacks, the tick duration of incandescent scorch get increased, as well as the tick delay. For example, with regular incandescent you get a large initial burst of aoe damage, then a tick damage number, but that number slowly goes down before the effect wears off. With the enhanced perk, scorch last longer and the tick damage decay decreases at a slower rate. This also means that the stagger capabilities of incandescent scorch also increases due to the duration increase.

One of the biggest reasons I don't use hand cannons is because of their animated diagonal kick (outside of 180's). It has always messed with my aim and threw me off. I'm grateful to have a hand cannon with an animated vertical kick. Maybe I'm an outlier in this, or I'm a complete numpty, but whatever. This'll be one that I actually try to farm for and try to use.

You're not alone. Many players, especially those using a controller, find it hard to use handcannons for the reasons you mentioned. The 180 RPM hand cannons have always been an exception, so it's great that Luna's Howl is back as a 140 RPM hand cannon with a precision frame.

If you're using Mag Howl, you should almost Always go for the 2 tap. If you're running a damage perk for a 2 head 1 body set up, you might as well just use Kill Clip.

Sound logic if every engagement you take is a 1v1…the amount of team shots in any lobby is insane and the amount of 1 tap kills I’ve picked up following my blueberries or the amount of times I’ve helped a blueberry win and not die by hitting a 122 is pretty substantial it may not be as clip worthy or satisfying as a 2tap but it can def still help swing engagements/matches. Its literally a bow headshot with no draw time for doing what you’d normally do anyway

I think Lunas is fine on smaller maps but on large maps it struggles a lot and I decided to use austringer with eye of storm zen moment and crimson and those 2 hand cannons can do well from farther ranges and tons of accuracy compared to lunas. Lunas I for some reason have trouble hitting rapid precision shots I’m jus not big on the 180ish feel. Not a bad hand cannon at all but when you look at all the hand cannon options we have that is also craftable it’s hard to chose Lunas over those

I do wanna say that harmony is solid as we get more and more high ammo economy specials. For instance, using something like tusk of the boar as your "primary" and then swapping to luna's for orange bars with harmony is better than people think. I use this roll on kept confidence for pve.

I have a full bore accurized EotS and MagH roll with a range masterwork. It performs exceptionally. Getting two stacks of magnificent Howell to kill into Shots is not that bad. You just have to be mindful of your magazine and even in the comp playlist it happens often enough to make a huge difference.

I have two for PvE. Incandescent/Heal Clip and Discord/Harmony. I think the Discord/Harmony roll is odd, but still fun with something like lucky pants to just pop off on a group of spread out adds. Kills refill the mag and you do increased damage. Feel like what The Last Word should be for PvE.

I have an idea. What if you pair Luna's howl w/ Malediction. You get a kill with Luna's howl with the Magnificent howl perk. Reload the gun, get the stack. Because you got to kill with Luna's howl, it will proc Harmony on Malediction. Shoot the harmony shot on Malediction and then swap back to the Luna's howl with the Mag howl stack and you should be able to 2-shot kill. Because you're still getting that kill with Luna's howl it will re-proc the Magnificent owl stack to continue the chain. I think below 8 resilience Guardians. Correct me if I'm wrong. Hunters may have more leverage with those due to Lucky pants. And if you don't have Harmony, Being radiant will still work.

How does Magnificent Howl compare to Memento Mori? While Ace might not be able to 2 tap like Mag Howl, the ability to 2/1 and keep things rolling with a reload after 6 might make it a direct comparison for some people.

Also Mag Howl gives crazy damage fall off. In PvE and PvP it's nice. You get into a more medium range engagement to get the initial stacks then once you've got them you can play a bit more at range. Even more range (for the first shot) with Slideshot or Encore.

If I can one shot adds in end game then mag howl will be worth it, it's not like explosions are killing them at that point. Granted this assumes you can line up headshots fast enough, which I think isn't too hard but people seem to complain about precision kills being too hard so maybe there's a skill requirement there.

For PVE, I feel like the ONE thing that makes Luna different from other weapons is the MH perk. Sure, heal clip/incandescent is great, but why use this instead of any of the other heal clip/incandescent options like Helio, Summoner, etc? And something else to remember about MH is that you get refunded your power shot on precision kills. So, it's not just about "that one shot". With subsistence and MH, in something with a lot of red bars especially (Onslaught, for example), once you get your stacks, it's VERY easy to keep that 50% buff going for a VERY long time without having to reload.

I find it strange that the new Luna has 10 in the mag. Old Luna/Not Forgotten had 10 but I figured that was because they had (and still do) drop mag as their magazine perks granting them a very fast reload at the cost of a reduced mag size. Drop mag was removed a while back but not replaced. If your guns still have it still functions the same, you just can’t get drop mag on anything. So why does new Luna have 10 rounds in the mag?

Heal clip has been one of the rarest perks I've ever seen (or haven't seen) on a weapon roll. Out of about 2 dozen drops, I've only had one drop with heal clip one time. 😭

Probably impossible for me to get 5 red boarders for a zaouli’s bane so this is going to be my go too Solar HC. I’ve gotten some nice shiny rolls but still hunting for that Heal clip + incandescent roll with a reload master work.
