The weathering makes that kit! Looks great Lou. I have a bunch of old Tamiya 1/12 scale motorcycle kits with that tubing - it does not improve with age! I scrounged a couple of old computer and phone cables from my work's I.T. dept before I retired and now have a lifetime supply of detailing wire. The cables have multiple colours of wires and are thin enough to look good. They are easy to bend and stay in place. The only down side is trimming the nubs and drilling the holes.

Nice hose job…for the record, Sigourney Weaver is an amazing actress and very few if any at the time could have pulled off the character Ripley. Great build really enjoyed this one.

Power loader came out looking spot on Lou. I bought a rotating 6 segment beacon circuit off Ebay that was designed for a RC model, it fitted the Halcyon kit beacon housing perfectly. The circuit had an extra 3rd signal wire that was designed to plug into a RC receiver, I just cut the plug off and ignored the signal wire and powered the board to a 6v button battery switch, worked great and looked just like the movie loader did.

Wow, you got this looking so much better than the official pics where it looked like a plastic toy. Although I do think it needs a base of some kind, even if it's just a very small section of the flight deck.

What ho! More Lou is a good thing. And the Power Loader looks like it's fresh off the Sulaco. You *might* wish to check your camera view more often, but the running commentary fuels the imagination. That rotating beacon effect is very close to something I've been noodling around with for far too many years. I think your cry for "4" lights is exactly my thinking. I keep thinking that if I just procrastinate a little more... then, Flashing Blinkie Lights will make one that is all solid state (instead of at the ends of wires...). We'll see. I was working up a set for the Spinner, of course. Unless my eyesight has finally moved on-- it looks like they couldn't get Ms Weaver's likeness. Too bad. And-- see you Saturday morn!

Very nice. With that sweet patina you gave it, it reminds of some of the backhoes at work. You know, if the Queen Mother was messing about with those hoses, she might give herself a nice 5000 psi shot of hydraulic oil right into her left teat. Then she’d have to leave off the fight and rush to a hospital that’s capable of treating skin injection injuries, or she’d get a nasty case of blood poisoning. But not before giving you a stab with her tail. Is the Robocop model you mentioned the robot guy with his brain in a jar? You’ll kill it.

Neca is re-releasing the alien queen. Its available for preorder. I just picked one up. Thinking about this kit at $69 now on sale but might just wait till a neca re-release as well

Great job as usual, Lou. I was wondering if anything could be done with the elbow joints on Ripley’s arms to make them look less Barbie Doll like. The rest of the model looks so realistic with all the extra details and weathering you did, bur, for me, those elbows spoil the effect. JMHO.

Just a heads up... the similar 90s Halcyon kit had no articulation whatsoever, other than the rotating "wrists". This newer model offers so much more 🤩 Nice work there, Lou👍

Hi Lou! Lovely work, as always! But I´d still like to ease your pain regarding the hose lengths... I don´t think the powerloaders´ designers were anticipating a messy bitch battle with an alien queen who might want to "play" with them... So the lengths were there to facilitate the full movement of heavy stuff from ground level (or below) to over the loaders´ head, not to mention bending forwards with loads to go beneath ground level (and also not forgetting the bodybuilder behind Sigourney with the surprise balloon, which could have potentially caused mayhem with her hose...) I hope to have helped you somewhat Love S

This is a beautiful kit, nice finish to this model! Ripley looks a little too clean, didn't she have smudges and dirt on her t-shirt and face?

i think it was such a mess that they framed the shots to hide them. about the only time you see the full rig is when Ripley pulls the Queen into the airlock
