I really like the idea with the tubing. That was a great Idea and being able to use them as locator pins too. I also like your idea for the engine nacelles. The Bulkhead in the middle was great. Thanks!

Try filling the tube with Micro Krystal klear put it together then put a dot of mkk on top. I sent it in to FSM a couple years ago as a tip. It works very well.

So glad that a fresh battery eliminated the 'strobing' on the blue engine lights. Deflector dish looking great as well. Lovely work Lou 🤩 A Saturday just wouldn't be a Saturday without an Aztec Dummy update.

Good Lou ... not to wax your car, here ... but -- you, sir are one of my personal heroes -- truly! Your fandom of Science Fiction Spacecraft, let alone the ships & props of STAR TREK, is worthy of a 24/7/Lifetime of applause and adoration by the masses. Amigo, you have put so much 'Water Back Into The Well So Others May Drink' in your oh-so-human How-To's of model building ... let alone your solutions of each kit's quirks. Personally, having been away for too many years from making models myself; please know your efforts, your talents, your Mt. Everest of ummmfph is contagious. Real deal model builders -- or even the armchair model builders and makers of anything, anywhere, owe you a debt of THANKS-!!! So, there, so keep at it ... as me, myself and all the noises in my head ever await your next realization of plastic and your blood, sweat & tears of the years at it ... and the next ... and the next .... and .... and ........ Live Long & Putty, D.A.

Looking good Lou. The aluminium pipes are a grand idea. Have you ever tried spray on electric tape on to Fiber optics to prevent them light leaking. I have never but I am going to experiment with it to give it a try.

Great lighting solution. I had always steered clear of tighter bends with fiber optics. Your ugly baby comment made me spit out coffee all over my bench. Keep up the Tripod work. I know it's a pain to keep everything in shot but it helps a lot with us being able to focus on the details.

Nice idea with the tubing! I remember thinking something similar back when you did the 1/1000 Enterprise D. I sometimes paint the outsides of my fibers to light block them. Usually white first to keep them bright, then black to block any outside light. Cheap craft acrylics can usually do the trick.
@aztekdummy
@aztekdummy 4 жыл бұрын
how does the paint stay on when the fiber flexes?
@SpencerWolfe
@SpencerWolfe 4 жыл бұрын
Lou Dalmaso I put it on in thin coats and let it dry a good bit between each coat. I’ve seen others use metallic paints, enamels I think. And I do pre-bend the fibers if I can. PS I forgot to also mention that Tulip is another choice.

I see your idea for the fiber optics we were discussing earlier in the week works great!! Good thinking. The lighting is taking this build up a notch like many other of your builds. I'm glad everything was able to fit in the tight space!! Bummer you were out 12 hours. We were only out for 4 hours even though I'm just around the corner. Fortunately there's a couple of switches they could open/close and get some of us back on.

Excellent idea for the necelles , I've always found that one side seems to fit better than the other on Trek kits back in the day I built them (90's I gave up after trying to fit the main Hull of the reliant - it almost went flying trying to attach the shuttle end piece , never went back to the series I still have the reliant and ds9 station) the only exception was when revell brought out the jjprise/original series kits - way better fit and design . As for making T junctions I've had to do this for a few car/ tank kits when the kit parts were mismolded or I snapped them trying to get other parts attached

"I had a good life... " Funny how a little power outage makes you question everything, eh? Your solution to the "light piping" is inspired. Though, suddenly you're a plumber. But that's all good as it works. I think the tube selection could be a bit smaller, but I'm not the guy in that trench; you are. I dunno, Lou-- there seems like you left some room in those nacelles. There's plenty of room to pour some more electronics in. Or some keepsakes. (Ha hah.) I would also suggest using some tracing paper in addition to the fiber fill. Everything's looking quite good.

Who is to say the LED can be directly to the fiber optic provided that there is enough lateral space to accommodate the LED? You've stumbled onto something, tho. Smart and clever technique! Further, red LEDs are a pain in the s arse when it comes to luminosity...I'm always stepping up the resistance on the green for it to match.... I'm really liking this bild, Lou. Well done!

Hi Lou. I love your work. I just bought your masking set for this model but I'll be using it on the yamaguchi clear kit version instead. I'm thinking of trying the vallejo paints that you suggested rather than tamiya and I was wondering, will the Vallejo paint be easy to scrape off the windows? I plan on lighting my Enterprise C completely. Plus I'm going to try your strobe lighting idea. Love it.

Lou I watch your videos every week, and when there wasn't one by 10:30, I was wondering what happened with you. Glad to see your electric is back on. I was thinking about building the Enterprise C and about a month ago when I was gathering information on it, I was wondering if you had a mask set for it. I looked everywhere I could, and no luck. Then last week's video told me why I couldn't find it. I buy all my mask from you, through Steve at cultmantv, are you going to be sending some his way? Plus I really like the tube idea. I was wondering how to make the running lights work with such small amount of space.

Lou love your builds. I am not a si-fi builder. I build vehicles and military, but I still love your videos. Instead of the multi tubes to reach the small to large diameter tubes. Why don't you get solid core tube that fits in large diameter tube and drill hole in middle for small tube that way less pieces to put together.

Why didn't you just use SMD's for the Red & Green Running Lights and White SMD's Strobe Lights it would have been a lot easier 0805 SMD's would have done the job just fine and the Red & Green Running Light on the ENTERPRISE C do not blink if you can fix that you should.

smleds wouldn't have solved the pin issue. plus anytime you use magnet wire, you run the risk of it breaking. I had the room for the 3 mils, why not use them

the lazy susan is a cake decorating turntable I got at walmart. the grid work piece is something I picked up at Lowes. it's a florescent lighting cover that goes up in the ceiling. I cut the circle shape and pt it in the depression of the turntable you can go back to my 2001 EVA pod build to see how I did it, since that's where I first made it
