Can having a code P0410-Secondary Air Injection System make the system throw the code for the P0446 also or do I need to replace both parts? It's on a 2001 Chevy Blazer LS.

I am getting random p0446 I was told that it appears to be a short because the computer won't let him run the vent test, and it is causing it not to vent when it is idling which is causing it not to pass the cars diagnostic check but when I am moving it vents. I just spent a lot of money on other repairs and asked the mechanic if it would cause performance issues or hurt my mileage, he said no. Is p0446 just environmental?

It's environmental. I was in Massachusetts and my 2002 Hyundai passed inspection with the code because of the car's age. Moved to New York and it's a problem because it's less than 25 years old. The mechanic thinks it might be the ECM, but no guarantees. If your car passes inspection in your state, you really don't need to worry about it, but you should occasionally scan and reset just to keep an eye out for other codes.

@@kenweller2032 Yeah, I got a cheap $20 reader with clear codes option. I live in a state once you buy the car you have an inspection and your done you never have to worry about it again. I didn't want to leave the light on because I would never know if new codes pop up. Thanks for the reply.

So is that the reason why when I drive for a couple of minutes my car slows down and stop like it's on break.. and you're right about the gas when I'm filling up my tank is keep on cutting off

I'm getting a P0441, P0446, P0455 & P4218 on a 2004 Toyota Rav4 and I'm at a loss. I've changed the purge flow sensor, charcoal canister w/ pressure sensor and the majority of the evap hoses. I'm not good with electrical tests so have not done any electrical tests so maybe that's the next step I need to take? The weird thing is that it behaves fine but after a couple of months of driving it will randomly through a cylinder misfire code on any random cylinder and take out the coil pack with it.

Jason, Toyotas EVAP problems are common. If I were you I'd spend $70 on a smoke machine and some baby oil to help finding a bad vacuum line easier. If you don't mind smoke, a cigar works okay too. If no smoke is present, ensure all vacuum lines are connected correctly. As far as testing electrical, get a 9v battery and some alligator clip test leads. Green/white is ground, red/white is hot. The switches will make a small clicking noise, and save you money. Apologies it took me so long to get to ya. First three codes are for EVAP, but 421 is for your cat. Research can only do so much on trouble codes, each vehicle is unique. Gotta open the hood to solve the problem. Good luck Jason!

My P0446 is signalling excessive pressure. If I open the gas lid, the pressure sensor still shows -11.45mmhg. It doesn’t move much from -11. When I run the car, it still always stays at -11… bad fuel tank pressure sensor maybe? Chevy HHR AllData is saying it should be at 0 with the gas lid off.

I replace my emission vent solenoid on a2006 Frod Freestar 3.9 and the engine light is still on what should I do next

It varies between vehicles when the computer tests the EVAP system. Also, many vehicles need a Drive Cycle to fully clear the code. Most people will drive around for 3-4 days, and if it's fixed, it will go away. You can look up the information on your vehicle to see what steps the computer needs to speed it up.

I have a 2009 F150 v8 4.6 stx with code number P0446 engine light on, this vehicle has a capless fuel fill inlet system, can this also be a problem? Thanks.

Yes, the cap less easy fuel inlet can also leak and cause an issue. Often, they can be cleaned up and made to seal again.

@@JeshuaNunez7 on my vehicle 2009 f 150 the problem was the evap valve on the charcoal canister right under the driver's door l didn't have to replace the evap valve the problem was a broken wire to the evap valve, l fixed it and is fine now Hope it helps
