Once you change out the mag release to use the shield mags you are pretty much committed to them. I would think that the metal mag catch would ruin the plastic OEM mags. Also your changing out one of the most important parts of the handgun. The part that holds the bullets. Your not changing out sights, or the connector, or doing a 4 dollar grip job( which by the way really does help Thank You)your changing out one of the most reliable and proven magazines in one of the most reliable and proven handguns made to get 5 extra rounds from a magazine that hasn't been used all that long. I want to get a G43x or a G48 but I think I'll do like I did with the Sig P365. I'll Wait a year or two to see how the Shield mags hold up.

A quick comment on Shield Arms mags as someone who owns 5 of them in the extended and standard S15 models that are paired with my Glock 48. First of all I will say that the customer service team at SA has been fantastic to deal with, but I'd rather have not dealt with them in the first place. I've had a total of 3 extended S15 mags fail on me now, every time SA has told me its a complete phenomenon and they never have this happen, has anyone else had this issue? Secondly the top of the mags are all showing lots of wear and have extremely sharp edges now after extended use, not sure if this will cause more issues down the line. I'm so pleased with the combo of the 48 and SA mags (and mag release) but I think there's improvements to be had still. Also the new 48 MOS/43X MOS could be a game changer since Streamlight is releasing the "sub" version of the TLR-7a soon for that platform and we currently don't have a good light mounting option for the standard 48's and 43's.

Bullet count is a _sales technique._ for the aftermarket mainly to try and sale you more stuff you don't need. *Every* new pistol that comes out these: - magazine makers, - sight makers, - wraparound grip makers, - light/laser maker, - & so on come out with an answer to a question no-body is asking. They say _make your gun better by..._ or _upgrade to this super duper..._ and the only thing that you really need to better yourself/upgrade yourself by... wait for it... *_by practicing._* Be the 1st at the *shooting range/training field* and be the last to leave. *Questions to think about* - How many rounds does it take to defend yourself CCW/CHP i.e. concealed carrying (FBI says on average 2 to 4 rounds no matter how many attackers)? - If you use one of those fancy & expensive optic sights in Winter, does it fog up pulling it out from under your warm Coat? - Why buy one of those shiny pimp-ish custom barrels when the factory barrel out last them by far & *the gun itself* is much, much more accurate the the human being is. - etc., etc. *_Go stock, or go home._* Stay happy & safe *Supermike*

sweetcostarica good points brother, but I’ll always take more rounds if it doesn’t add any size to the gun. Having said that I just sold my 43X because I’m basically carrying either my LCR or P365xl. 👍. And I agree always keep it stock for a carry gun with anything internal. That’s one of the reasons I sold the 43x. Even though the mags were 100% reliable I still don’t have as much faith in after market mags or internals. The other reason is that extra half inch or whatever made it just too long to conceal for me.

@@sweetcostarica adding a red dot to a handgun makes people go from struggling to shoot 8" groups at 25 yards to shooting 4" groups from an otherwise stock glock 9. The gun is barely mechanically more accurate than 4" at 25 yards. This is consistent across dozens of people that I've had test both of my 19s (stock and red dot). Not having a weapon light is just straight up stupid. If that needs explaining then we're done here. Lasers are stupid, on that we agree. I have no idea what you have against magazine makers. Theres no negative to having more magazines. A different grip can make a mediocre gun good, or a good gun great for a person. Most due to differences people have in their physical shape. If you are fortunate enough to fit a stock gun, then by all means run stock. If you (like me) have abnormally long hands, then you will benefit greatly from a larger grip. Practice is paramount to skill, but tailoring a firearm to yourself and your needs can allow you to meet the mechanical accuracy of the firearm.

@@sweetcostarica Bullet count is a sales technique? The chance of you or me getting into a ccw situation is statistically incredibly low. But even then, the chance of you being in an extended gunfight with someone is still that, a chance. Why would you artifically handicap yourself to low round count guns. And its not like we could argue about how a lower round count gun is half the price, etc. some other variable that could affect what you carry day to day. A ruger LCR is going for the same price as a brand new glock these days. Before your and my time, police officers were getting killed because they were limited to their 5-6 shot revolvers. So while the FBI may be talking about the common street thug or a home invader, I guarentee their advice doesnt hold up to mass shooting type situations. When these nutjobs have the intent to not only kill but kill several at once, often times coming in with superior firepower, more ammo, possibly even body armor, etc. I prepare myself for all situations as best as I can, and sure revolvers and pocket semis have great conceability, lower weight, etc. they just dont hold up all CCW situations like a G43x/48/G19/P365 can

The metal mag body will chew up the plastic mag catch over time. The metal mag catch shouldn't wear the OEM mags to the same degree since it lacks the sharp edge when you do it the other way around. However, it IS more likely to cause SOME wear than the plastic OEM part would... keep an eye on the mag's notch to see if the corners are getting rounded off.

Unfortunately Glock lost thier innovation a long time ago. The reason for this is because they rode thier fame train for "being the most reliable gun" for way too long without listening to their customer base. Now other company's are doing it better and cheaper than Glock is. It takes other company's like (Apex, Taran Tactical, Shield Arms, etc.) to produce products that Glock should have produced to begin with and now customers have to pay extra money for something that they should have already been given with thier original purchase. After 5 generations Glock is still giving their loyal customers shit triggers, flexible frames, bad sights, and low ammo capacity. Again, No innovation. I love how they couldn't even extend the rail on the G48 so customer can use a light. Cheap asses.
