As an ex LEO who is an enthusiastic HK "only" kind of guy , I found even my P30SK ( although a sub-compact but still a double stack ) was a little bulky and uncomfortable to carry concealed for more than a couple hours. Then , the G43 comes out !! I was feeling like I was "cheating" on HK when I held the G43 , BUT I was sold immediately...I can carry this gun ALL day and almost forget it's there...THAT'S exactly why it was produced and it's perfect for the task. Now , I find myself wanting one of these G48's as well...a slightly longer barrel and an extra 4 rounds while still THIN and comfortable as a single stack - perfect for hiking in the woods if a little more velocity and accuracy is needed but still concealable and comfortable to carry. I have to admit , Glock sees a need / desire from concealed carry individuals and GETS IT RIGHT...NICE JOB !!!

Finally someone confident enough to be honest about their hand size in a gun review. Super stoked Glock finally made the 48. Great video. For a long time I've thought a slim grip Glock 19 would be a great pistol. The G48 fills that role well. I bought one yesterday afternoon and shot it briefly last evening. It was completely reliable with 68 rds of JHP and FMJ ammo. I thought the recoil was nice and not snappy. The trigger pull is good. Ammo can cause a malfunction. I really like the G48. I carry a G43 for deeper concealment.

Glocks by their original design work 99.9% of the time. Gaston glock got it right from the start with him taking his time and not rushing a proven, shootable, reliable piston with no more than 35 parts. No other gun maker has been able to compete or produce a pistol with no more than 35 parts that works dirty, wet, dry & funky and still comes up going BANG.

@1776REIGNS5 жыл бұрын
@@tenicorusa Who puts extensions on a P365? The Sig is smaller in height with the 12 round magazine (emphasis on magazine, not an extension) in the most important place that would possibly print. I like all manufacturer's... have a few Glock's but Sig introduced something innovative that still remains an engineering marvel. Glock takes an old platform, adds a built in magazine extension, paints it another color and voila... pure genius??? Nope... They took the safe way. I more than expect it to perform based on the 43's history alone but I was hoping for more from Glock. I'll probably own one after they find the black paint though. With that said... Sig, while having hiccups and not agreeing with how they were handled has ironed out the bumps of an innovation. Glock merely made something old... evolve. Hats off to Sig Sauer even after the rough start. Better trigger and sights standard on the Sig with the same pricetag. Haven't seen/read a negative review in quite a while. Above is all about the 43X and I realize your video is about the 48. As for the 48, to me just doesn't fill a need, unless you count concealment... in that case a 19 shouldn't be any harder to conceal than a 48 now should it... but 5 rounds lost... really? Rumor has it that Hickock45 (he likes Glock's) heard about these offerings, scratched his head and then he and his son both got new Sig Sauer P365's for Christmas.
@tenicorusa5 жыл бұрын
The P365 ships with an extended mag just like the Shield. So lots of people are using an extend mag. I agree the 48/43x is no engineering marvel, but Sig's marvel didn't work. Sig has great ideas but is showing a pattern of guns with various problems. At this point, I would be reluctant to trust my life to it. Glocks minor tweak answers a real gap in the market. I understand that the internet commandos all think that it is dumb, but I disagree. It is the first of its kinda and a welcome change. 1/16 of an inch in thickness reduction does more to conceal a gun than 3/8" in grip reduction. I don't think that most understand this. That is why things like snap loops are still popular, but for those whose lives count on keeping the gun hidden while simultaneously needed to deploy it under pressure, fractions of inches in width reduction make a difference. The 48 offers the concealment of a 43/365 and the shoot ability of a 19. My tactics and skills drive my equipment selection not youtube celebrities. Off course this all my opinion based on my experience. I expect your experience is quite different, thus we come to different conclusions. And none of it really matters to anyone else. 👍😉🇺🇸
@1776REIGNS5 жыл бұрын
@@tenicorusa We don't disagree on everything. I agree with your point of firearm thickness being a giveaway (mustn't forget thinness equaling comfort) but a longer magazine area is very important as well, which is why the Sig is shaped the way it is in the rear portion of the grip, even on the 12 round magazine. Also the reason for holsters that include "the claw", which is designed to keep that portion of the firearm against a persons body. Again, Sig has ironed out the bumps of a brand new innovative introduction. As far as reliability? No doubt it was rough out of the gate but the P365 is something that sets a new standard and while I personally didn't like the way it was traversed... we'll never know the true numbers of folks who had issues. It wasn't only the internet commandoes that had issues as there were many on blog's also but I think things got blown out of proportion due to some wanting it to fail because it's not their favorite. I'd like all manufacturer's to due well which allows various options for all. As a firearm community I don't by into the bickerings when someone's life could be on the line. Personally, our family (not household) has 4 P365's with over 2k rounds each and haven't had a single malfunction. I know the Glock will perform and sell well. As I mentioned before I'll likely be picking up a 43x when Glock hopefully offers them in black. As for the Hickock45 statement, I'm certain he'll be owning one, if not both of the new Glock's. I just found it funny and good timing that they did buy P365's for Christmas. Thanks for the amiable conversation. Cheers and good luck moving forward.

Something that is not talked about much in regards to these small, slim profile handguns is that they are less forgiving to a less than optimal grip. I've been saying it for years man it's all about that overall girth lmao on a serious note I recently bought a 48 and it fits better in the hand and shoots just as well as the 19 in my opinion and for an EDC, as a civilian looking for self defense outside the home, if I can't get it done in 10 rounds I should spend more time in the range

Lucas Oil
@1022videogates5 жыл бұрын
I use Amsoil 10w-30 motor oil mixed with atf-4 transmission fluid and Lucus full synthetic oil stabilizer. 1 cup motor oil, 2 tbsp trans fluid and 1 tbsp stabilizer. The trans fluid is an excellent rust inhibitor and the stabilizer absorbs heat while the PEA additive in the Amsoil protects from harsh primers and powder deposits. As a chemical engineer, I've found most "gun" oils to be nothing more than mineral oil with a few paraben based waxes. I wanted real protection at half the cost. I also use Supertech brake cleaner , "Chlorine free" to clean my guns. The aerosol gun scrubbers are nothing more than relabelled brake parts cleaner at 8 times the price.

I got one last year and i bought frangible ammo which spalled the barrel making a squib and i was rapid fireing do the shot after it bulged the barrel do much it wouldn't cycle. Glock wouldn't warranty it the place I bought it from replaced it after, hammering them for selling me the ammo that caused it. The G48 had a thinner barrel than any other 9 mm Glock

Great video. Did you do a 1000 round test on the g19? If so, did it malfunction?
@tenicorusa5 жыл бұрын
I have never done an identical test with a G19. However, I have fired 10s of thousands of rounds through a G19 the number of malfunctions I have experience is very small. Even smaller if the issues specific to ammo are eliminated. The G17/G19 are the gold standard of reliability and have 100s of millions of rounds through the platforms with very little problems.

Tenicor Which one would you say is more reliable the g19 or the g48?

Internally it's not a new design. It's functionally a G43, all the parts are interchangeable everything is the same. All they did was change the grip portion of the frame, new magazine and mag catch/release with a extended slide and barrel. You're just parroting Sig P365 crap you probably don't even know what "striker drag" is.

the 43x felt better in my hand the 48 felt off balance both guns use the same grip frame with the 48 over hangs due to longer barrel and slide but uses the same recoil spring as the 43x

There are many factors that can contribute to a stoppage, improper shooting platform could be part of the problem, but if you look at the ejection pattern of the case prior to the FTF, it is more likely due to an undercharged load on the previous round which caused a very unusual ejection pattern and the slide from not fully cycling. @@jeffd5310
