The Samsung Galaxy S22 series joins the Google Pixel 6 phones in enabling the native camera lenses and processing for social media apps like Snapchat and Instagram. This is an area that Android has been lacking in the past. As far as I know, these are the only two Android phones that are able to do this.
In this camera comparison video, I start off with the POV segment where you can see how the phones perform side by side. Then diving into LR will reveal those details while pixel peeping.

Another fabulously informative video. For me, the Pixel 6Pro has become my daily driver. I've fallen out of love with Samsung because both phones score equally in terms of cameras but the Pixel is a much better deal monetarily. Samsung phones have become far too expensive. I'm most definitely in the Google camp now.

Have both. Though, the I love to use the 6 Pro more. I can't be confident with the battery life. I'm leaning towards the S22U because of the battery life with easily 1.5 days. Whereas, the 6 pro is out in the middle of the day. S22U battery is terrible the first 2 weeks until it learned to adapt with my usage. The 6 Pro's battery life didn't improve for me.

@@darcastromero I don't seem to have had much of a problem with my 6 Pro in terms of battery life. I'm a fairly heavy user and I can go for 36 hours without charging with the adaptive battery function toggled on. The same couldn't be said with my Samsungs although I'm in the UK so we're cursed with Exynos Samsungs which are less power efficient than the Snapdragon versions.

@@MancUnionMr I don't know bout that. I'm a pretty heavy user myself and I can only use the 6 Pro with 5-6hrs SOT. Whereas the s22u, I have 7.5-8hrs SOT same use case.

optimization for social media app to use the camera fullest potential is great, but since the first day i use the smartphone all the footage whenever i upload on story is actually recorded first in the phone camera, not the app ( it sorta become a habit where my mind always jump in the camera app first ) so these non optimize for social media on android side was never a problem for me .

@@Abedo0o0 i see ah well story footage doesn't need to be that crystal clear like it's only 10-20s long anyway and tbh no one care beside tech nerds like us. kids these day before they post pic/vid on their story they always took picture with a separate app that has filter which already make the image look worse , so doesn't matter if you own an iphone end of day 8/10 kids still have shitty quality picture up there.

While only us tech enthusiast and needs who will be able to tell the difference, believe me those kids while they won't be able to properly explain what's wrong with the video/photo they will notice that it's not iPhone quality. Actually those kids brag about having iPhones and make fun of those who use android. I've seen many memes on people who own android phones and use Snapchat. There's a term they use "potato quality"

Yep. On my pixel 6, it works advertised on moving subjects. It's not 100% but it's close. My s21ultra gets constant blurry. Guessing something to do with shutter speed ..

In the S22 Ultra Eyxnos version, when the X10 zoom is used in low light, what the phone is really doing is using the X3 optical zoom and making a digital crop. It can be seen in lightroom by the opening that is not the one that corresponds to the X10 but corresponds to the X3

Very nice video! My understanding is that at night Ultra uses the 3x telephoto lens for video and photos at >= 10x since the periscope 10x lens has a very small aperture. Thus the ultra does not perform well in this case.

Nice comparison! For future videos, please consider keeping each phone's samples on the same side of the video. In some scenes, you have the pixel on the left and in others the galaxy is on the left. It makes it a little harder for the viewer to follow your commentary when the samples switch sides sporadically. Keep up the great work though!

The software updated for Samsung through the year will a better assessment. The better phone as a whole Samsung S22 ultra but does need software updates to offset many of the problems you showed. The problem off using so many different sites is that the internet tends to interpret photos so you really don't get the true picture quality 🤔. It's like telling an event to your friends and in the ends in a total different story .Good Video 😎

I don't know why would anyone, anyone use inapp camera from social media rather than actual native camera app to behin with. I shoot directly from my iPhone's native app and then import in Instagram, snap or anything else..

but since the day i learn how to edit photo on lightroom i always end up shoot raw photo and take time to edit lol, all smartphone in this world always somewhat boost the color up a notch ah well put it simple they just doesn't match the feeling when you are looking at something in real life tbh , doesnt matter if its' ip , ss , or pixel . that's why there are raw photo and you can take that and bake it however you like.

I have the s22U and was excited to get it after hearing so much praise for the s21U cameras. but really the cameras, aside from the zoom, hasn't impressed me. they seem the same to my regular s21i traded in. and if someone or something is moving it's terrible. the iphone 13 seems to take way better pictures, especially in motion. and the pixel. so I've been thinking about swapping.

Can you compare both these phones taking pictures of moving subjects (people/pets) indoors and outdoors both to see if there is morion blur? Also comparison of waterfalls using expert raw or pro mode on the ultra and the built in long exposure on the P6P? And moon picture comparisons too? Haha that's my curiosity between the two cameras! I like the ultras macro mode for sure!

If you plan to shoot anything with motion (kids, pets) don't get a Samsung. It prioritizes a slower shutter speed to get s brighter exposure and your shots will turn out blurry. I have owned both and only benefit to the Samsung s22 ultra is the wider lens and slightly sharper longer lenses. Samsung also favors a brighter exposure and youll find it often overexposes images losing highlight details.

If you use lightroom but don't want to work with RAW files due to size, pixel 6 is better as its jpeg has a wider dynamic range. ie shadows lifted and highlights lowered. With all these details captured in jpeg, you can go wild with the contrast, desaturation and softness later on in lightroom or snapseed to the achieve a more natural look

I have used pixel2, pixel 4xl and the pixel 6 Pro. The portrait mode on pixel 6 pro is really terrible, especially when you use this mode to take photos about people, because the whole picture, especially people's face and people's hair is oversharpened. In fact, when you use pixel 6 pro zoom over 2x, the oversharpened problem is also terrible.

Social Media quallity isn't really important to me. I'm still happy that I switched from the 6pro to the S22 Ultra. Googles Material U felt like using IOS copy. Far too less functions like a pro mode in the camera and far too little features and customization options compared to Samsungs UI. Some ppl May don't need so much versatility, but I do.

For UI, just download Nova Launcher to overcome any disabilities in stock os. My only grip is pixel stock camera missing a pro mode like in Samsung. The current white balance sliders and contrast / brightness sliders are not nearly enough!

you are aware that the pixel can on the fly can alter contrast and exposure? the pixel camera is much easier to use and can get better pictures just from tweaking the images in the image finder, which i noticed this review didnt do. the uplifting shadows can be manually adjusted before taking take the photo, from my experience i've not noticed thsi feature on samsung. the only thing i struggle with my pixel is the focusing, sometimes its focused well, sometimes i have to tap repeatedly

@@michaliskossyfas5862 for some people more the specs more they tend to gravitate towards buying the phone that is why samsung on this galaxy S series 22 ultra is offering a inbuilt stylus and presenting it like a note series... Google has relied on the software side most of it's part keeping the same sensor for a couple of iterations... Where as if you go buy a proper dslr or mirrorless camera from sony, canon or nikon you always get some new hardware so this time also apart for the cpu and gpu on the pixel 7 don't expect lot of changes internally..

The 105mm equivalent is a great focal length, especially for portraiture, and it doesn't sit uncomfortably far from the wide angle camera. A 7x camera wouldn't have much more to offer and would probably have a much smaller sensor.

I like the sony Xperia 1 1V telephoto application where in you can actually control the variable zoom length increase or decrease it provides a more better result in taking a shot... It is the only telephoto lens with a variable aperture... In samsung 10x optical zoom which is a fixed setup you get the remaining below 10 x zoom in digital format that is why they have included a 3x telephoto lens as well.. I think pixel will improve upon the sharpening and processing of the photo and video this time around with more ML and AI.....

Samsung should be better for a person like business man or an influencer. They can better do more productive stuffs with the Pro camera and the spen. And there's a lot much to do ! But Google's Pixel 6 Pro is also a flagship that can be used for what our needs are like, great video and photo quality. Good screen & Software. Absolutely it's a good price for that phone rather than a 1000$ phone with extra ultra specifications. But s22 ultra is useful for a business man and influencers/celebrities. Pixel 6 pro far much better in the price range though. 🎉✨

I'm not pixel peeper or pro photographer, however in terms of overall camera reliability, the pixel has it over the S22U in many ways. I can take pics of my kids with no motion blur, along with no shutter lag. I wish reviewers mentioned this more because it's an issue that Samsung has never resolved.

I am not a fan of the over-sharpening thing that pixel do to their photos tbh. It makes the subjects look uglier than they actually were, human subjects. I'm using pixel 4 xl btw and it seems like even on the pixel 6 this issue hasn't been fixed. I'm currently using gcam PX to overcome this problem and it works. Plus I want them to bring back that blue ish tone or they called it as pixel color science back in the day. After several updates the camera results seem to be changing towards the warmer side and I'm just not a fan of it.
