Anyone care to chime in: im torn between these 804d4 vs 803d4. Put bluntly, the 804d4 is a large investment on its own for me, and the 803d4 is considerably more costly. Obviously w the 803 you're getting into a much better cabinet, meaning the midrange should be more transparent. Also the bass drivers are bigger, more volume etc.. Speakers would be going into a medium sized room, so just wondering if bass response is leaps and bounds better on the 803 or do the 804d4s have excellent bass extension? I have a great subwoofer but i tend to enjoy 2 channel listening without sub. Any opinions on the matter? Or anything else worth mentioning between them that i may or may not take notice of until after the fact?

804d4s will be fine. If your front end is good, you’ll be a happy camper. I’m still running a pair of 27 yr.-old B&W Matrix 805s with a Sugden A21 SE. Impeccable sound in every way. Get a nice pair of B&Ws and some good electronics and you won’t need to be a member of the Flavor of the Month Club. PS - I would love a pair of 804d4s. Don’t tempt me.

@ChicagoRob2 this is well off topic but I'll have to put the audio hobby on the back burner for the tike being. I just bought a fancy new riding mower with power steering because my elbows are terrible after three surgeries last year within 10 months of each other. Spring is on its way though so that's still something to look forward to! 😀

It is hard to compare with another system because the video microphone appears to centre focus on the sound of the drivers that emphasise the frequencies being played at the time. Would have been more honest and accurate, to leave the microphone in a central listening position for say half the track, and afterwards, fly around the system to show what the back of speakers look like (and sound like - not a normal listening position for most right?) Try listening to the track from China Moses: Jazz loves Disney "Why Don't You Do Right?" directly - it will sound a little less emphasised on any system when played directly!

So you paid thousands of dollars for those Clarus speakers cables and we are to believe your opinion on speakers? Debatable I don’t know about that, I have heard these things they fill a room with deep smooth sound, not sure how you’re setup but try some adjustments if you really think they ard bright. Those SF’s have some of the cheapest dime store re electronics you can buy and yet they charge a fortune. Yes, Fabers make those cheap things.
