"Rare", sir, is a significant understatement. This must have been a stellar experience.

My father passed away yesterday at the age of 93. He flew 33 combat missions as a B-17 pilot during 1944-1945. Thank you for this moving film.

As a 24 year old, I know my generation is filled with a lot of ungrateful and disrespectful people, but from the bottom of my heart I thank your father for his service.

My grandfather was in the 303rd BG, shot down March '43 and was in the only plane downed that day... Survived as a POW. Wish he was alive to see this tribute, RIP 1st LT EJ 1917-2008

That is truly amazing, You should consider yourself very lucky to have seen such an amazing sight. You are among a decreasing number of people on this planet who can say they have seen a B-17 fly much less 4. Thank you!

Was he a FW-190 pilot? I'm always curious if anyone knew the guys who shot down my grandpa lol, sounded like a cool dude... My grandpa's crew didn't like him, but the FW-190 pilot offered the pilot of the B-17 a beer before they became POW's! Takes a special kind of man to have the respect to give "the enemy" a beer for sure!

i went up with a piece of a b17, belonged to a close family friend that was on a b17 he had a piece of his bomber that was shot down in WW2, after the war he visited the crash site and took a piece of her and he gave it to me along with his uniform, i wore his uniform and took the piece with me, an old b17 vet broke in tears and he said "im glad the old girl got to take to the air again" goes to prove the emotional attachmant to those men and their aircraft

This was the first airshow I had ever been to, I was 5 and I remembered seeing the B-17s just before they taxied out to the runway and that's when I decided that the B-17 was one of my favorite airplanes

I wish I could have seen this. Just awesome. Do you know which planes were flying in this formation? You said this was in Michigan. I bet one of them was "Yankee Lady" out of Willow Run Airport. What were the other three? DON"T EVER LOOSE THIS VIDEO. This is rare and historical. Thanks so much for sharing this with us.
@SteveSeabee15 жыл бұрын
Thunder Over Michigan 2010 will also feature the B-17, 2005 had 8 of them, Yankee Air Museum hopes to at least equal that number this year. The 8th Air Force will be having their reunion at Willow Run this year during the air show.

@pantuner Airventure, Oshkosh is celebrating the 75th Anniversary of the DC-3 and the B-17 by having a mass arrival of over 50 DC-3's and as many possible B-17's during the week's convention. Definitely the place to be this summer.

Yes, I saw that! Bookmarked in LARGE LETTERS on my calendar already. They will also have one of the ME 262 Replicas, and so far it looks like 9 or 10 P51's. Should be an excellent event

its an old ww2 tradition when a ight would come home with a missing aircraft one of the planes would pull up to signify to the groun crew that 1 plane was shot down theyd do that for how many aircraft they lost
