Welcome all to part two of our wedding anniversary adventure part 2.
Today we are visiting the B29 Overexposed crash memorial site, the site of the devastating crash of an American super fortress which sadly crashed due to adverse conditions on the top of the moor.
Please find the route here on Komoot - www.komoot.com...
More about the site can be found by doing a simple search on Google.

You must go on your hikes early. At the B29 site and the nearby Trig Point as well as Mam Tor were heaving when we went.

Hi Chris. Yes, I like to go early for hikes to avoid the crowds as best we can. This was also a week day as well.

Great license plate Dee! Lovely spring loaded gate action! Lovely music, will have to check upbeat out! Gosh what a tragedy, what s place to check out! Crazy that all those remains are just there. Would have thought it would just be the memorial, like the one on Easby Moor. Nice trig on Higher Shelf Stones! Great history and happy your ankle held so you could take us with you! 👍

Oh yes, only I could get a car with that license plate number 😂 It really is good, and it's free or you can subscribe and get access to the premium tunes. We were shocked at how much of the remains were still there, even part of the tyre was still intact, it was crazy like. Its a great little spot despite it's history. Take care and have a fab weekend!!

Amazing how much of the wreckage is still there - good to see that. There are some in the Brecon Beacons but mostly there is not much still at the crash sites. Looks a good wall with lots of interest. Enjoyed your video. All the best, Roger

Thank you so much. We were surprised at how much of the wreckage was left as well. The tyre was still on the wheel and how the engines where still there. A scenic place as well. Thank you for watching, take care!

A very poignant site that Dee. But the views from the summit were spectacular. I’m sat here thinking why the hell don’t Kim & I do more walks. Intend to talk myself out of them but determined to change that. Watching your videos really does inspire me to just get out and in with it. Looking forward to seeing you in a few weeks. 👍🏻🚶🏻‍♂️🚶‍♀️

It is. It was a very humbling place to visit. It's one thing hearing about it, and then there's seeing it. Honestly, sometimes it's just about getting out and also knowing where to start, and doing something that doesn't put you off. That's how I started! And then picking something that is a goal to achieve, if I can do it, anyone can! Yes, I'm so excited to see both you and Kim!

We really loved this video Dee and Joe, thought you did a great job of paying your respects at the crash site, this video showed us this place but was dignified and respectful. Its amazing how much is left up there, what a sad tale, may they rest in peace🙏. Love a good trig at the summit! The peaks is so full of trigs! Amazing views. The old graffiti was crazy! P said it must have been stone masons handy work? Joe was on form on this walk, nice life advice at the end there Joe!😆👍. Great stuff guys, your videos keep getting better, keep em coming, and have a fabulous weekend, Shell and Pete😊👊

Thank you so much (sorry for late reply!) And I'm glad it came across like that too. Apparently the main body of the plane is in a museum. But nice to see it's not been looted. The views were amazing and the masonry was pretty good, and imagine just having a mate who's on a walk with ya and he's like 'lets carve our names' and just breaks out his carving tools 😂 crazy times! Thank you so much 🥰💜

I read people get lost trying to find the crash site but I guess they're not regular hikers. I've never been the crash site and keep meaning to get to the Peak District seeing I live fairly close. It's amazing how much of the wreckage is still there and they didn't clean it up at the time.I wonder how many of those people who carved their names in the rocks are still with us. It looked a great clear day for views. Enjoyed watching 👍Paul

Yes, I'd heard that as well when researching. Me and Joe went prepared but there were folk heading up there in trainers and shorts and full face of make up! I was shocked at how much was left, apparently a chunk of it was lifted and put into a museum somewhere. That's a good question, some folk really spent time on carving out their names, quite impressive. Thanks so much. I'm trying to catch up with folk, slowly but surely!

its a sombre moment when you come across a crash site, ive only done it the once and its quite a sad place with it being so quiet youre just left alone with your thoughts

It really is. It was nice though that so many people have paid tribute to them, there was lots of crosses and poppies, and stone crosses. It seems like it's had a huge impact on folk. The effort that goes into the graffiti, does make me smile, as it's like a work of art.

It says uploaded 7 days ago. Can i ask when you filmed this as Snake Pass was closed last week as I wanted to Tag two more Ethels. It did give me goose bumps first time up there a month ago. Sad loss of life. Great vlog.

I tend to upload every couple of weeks. This was filmed on the 16th of September. Strange as I always put the recorded date in where YT ask so I thought it would display that. We were down for a couple of days, I was meant to be on a navigation course and it was cancelled, so kept the accomodation and still visited the area. Was absolutely tragic what happened and a very eerie place, thank you for watching!!

The place is like a maze. But thankfully if you stick to the main path it's easy to find. I was hoping it would come across in a respectful manor, at the end of the day people lost their lives there. So happy to hear it comes across like that too. Sending much love to you all! 💜

Yes, that wind is getting real cold now but sun out, dry and it looked like a nice path to follow too, well, apart from the peat bogs 😳. Always sad when you see a crash site like that and obvious the meaning behind it but good to see it has been left untouched and such a poignant memorial erected there. What a view indeed from the summit and even better having it all to yourselves too. Very tastefully filmed I thought, cheers Alan

Oh it was bitter this day! I was so cold! The path was pretty good for most of the way. Apparently Mountain Rescue had a few issues of people not being prepared in winter and going up there, especially in the last couple of years. There's a bit more info on Google, but it explains what's left there. Apparently there was a ring found at some point and was returned to the family, which is nice to hear. I hope it came across in a respectful way, as it's such a sad situation that happened, so thank you 😊 hope you and Mrs M are keeping well 😊
