I love Randolph's playing. Ooh the B2 and C3 sound so vibrant and sweet. I wish he had opened up on the B3 like that to hear the highs in comparison.

I don’t know anything about Leslie’s other than the 145, 147, and 122. These three models are the most popular. The 122 would be used on a Hammond without an internal speaker such as a C3 or B3. The 145 or 147 models are typically used on an A100 model or spinet model like the M100 series I know the 45 and 47 are single speeds where you either have Tremelo or off as Chorale isn’t an option I however never learned what the 21H and 31H does
@KeyboardExchange4 жыл бұрын
@@mrbigbigtoe The 31 H Leslie, 32 H model Leslie, 21H Leslie, and 22H Leslie all came before the Leslie 122 and will work with the same hook up kit. These models are fast and off speed from the factory but can be modified.
@hammondvoodoo95554 жыл бұрын
All three organs offer about the same sound quality and are beautiful instruments. You could tell that the percussion on the B2 sounded a little different but that's due to the TrekII unit. Also, the B2 had a slightly darker sound which is typical for these instruments because of the preamp and the types of tubes used (6SJ7, 6SC7, 6SN7 - all of them from the 1940ies and tendentially dark sounding). If I had to pick one I'd probably go for the C3. I like those quarterfoil ornaments on both the organ and the bench. It's become quite difficult to get one of those pre-1960ies C3s, especially in that condition with the original bench ... Great playing!!

Hi Jim, This video was interesting, going through a few different organs. Although this was done with an on-board mic in the camera, you can hear the quality and tonal differences! For my ears, I tend to favor the B2 with the old AO-10 preamp! It seems to have a warmer and fatter sound. I'm an audio electronics tech (vacuum tube specialist) and also played B3 professionally (for a living). I once owned a B2 and added a Trek II percussion kit. The sound of that organ was amazing, especially since I used it with two (stock) 31H Leslie speakers. I was never aware that your operation existed. These videos are great! Keep 'em coming...Frank Ferraro--Audio Craft Electronics.

+stvynix Actually we try very hard at KEI to get the organs to sound the same but in fact that is almost impossible.....each having its own personality. One of the highest complements that we can receive is that their is no major difference in the sound between our instruments....they ALL sound great! However we know that each person will have their favorites and that is the main point of offering a good selection! Thanks for you comments and sorry for the delay in our reply. B2 and C2 are identical internally. Both B2 and C2 can sound identical to a B3 or a C3 as long as you don’t want to use any percussion, because the C2 and B2 were the years models before percussion was added on. I never use percussion on the C3 at my church, so I would be perfectly content with any Hammond that has Chorus/Vibrato that has the same Vibrato sound as the C3 does when it is set on Chorus 3 or “C3” on the Vibrato setting

please help me! Is the hammond C3 suitable for church? I'm asking because i cannot find any video that church organist uses the C3. There are only in the styles of jazz/blues/ rock....
@RayyMusik5 жыл бұрын
VTL 270599 Sure; the C actually stands for (C)hurch: “Churches were reluctant to purchase the open-legged consoles of the A and B series, so the C console was developed to provide an appearance deemed more acceptable in a church. Throughout this model's life it was absolutely identical to the B series. C models, particularly the C-3, were more popular with English players than the B-3.” (www.dairiki.org/HammondWiki/HammondModels)

Joe...idk what happened or why you seem so angry.....but you will never get the help or solution to your problems by public shaming or and degrading others.....with that being said...i hope you can find way to deal with issues like an adult and involve God. He ALWAYS steps in. In hindsight...we all have had unpleasant experiences in our lives...but the way we deal with those experiences can really change the outcome of a situation in the end.

Can I get a Hammond without the Leslie? Hammond didn't like Leslie and wouldn't go against the original wishes of the manufacturer. It's for a church and WAS NEVER played how you demonstrated it.
@KeyboardExchange2 жыл бұрын
You can get a Hammond organ without the Leslie, but the majority of players have wanted that combination over the years. You are correct that the original intention was for a church, but the factory officially supported the Leslie speaker in 1966. If you prefer the original Hammond sound through a tone cabinet, give us a call and we can find something that would work for you. (407) 323-7493
