So wild how the runway lights up. Pilots and crew are an elite / awesome bunch!

Very nice landing! I tried Air Canada's $20 million simulator in Toronto a few months ago and performed this exact landing. No autopilot! That's when you appreciate the skills of a 767 ! I have never concentrated so hard in all my life. I didn't crash but It wasn't as smooth of a landing as this. I'm not a pilot BTW just an avid Flight Sim enthusiast.

Smooth landing. I wish I flew a 767 for a living.

That is true. The back-ups are battery operated so that they can run independently without the aircraft's generators having to power them.

Excellent video, good work by both pilots. It's possible that the Capt and FO are working together for the first time, it does take a little getting used to each other, especially when there is a very large difference in experience levels

They have back-up analog gauges that you can fly off of if the glass panel instrumentation fails. If it is an electrical failure, like the engines go out and you lose power to those generators, then you can try to start the APU to provide the power to the aircraft. They also have a ram air turbine that drops down into the slipstream of the aircraft. It is like a little propeller that spins with the outside air and provides power much like a windmill would do. Hope this helps!

@bartdereu autothrottle (and autopilot) can be engaged without having any effect on flight systems. you can set speed say 250 kts or mach 0.80 but the Indicated Air Speed /MACH button cannot be activated without firstly engaging autothrottle. its like having cruise control on your car activated at a set speed. when you touch brakes, cruise is on but not active. works the same way. hope that answers your question.

They will be landing on QNH - sea level pressure, so the altimeter will show the elevation of the airport above sea level when the aircraft is on the ground. Toronto is 569' AMSL. Hope this answers your question. Great video!

I could be wrong but I am almost 100% positive this was an autolanding. All three autopilots were armed, the approach button was highlighted and the autoland status indicator turned green. Given the lack of center lights I am going to assume that was the reason for Autoland since the visibility was good

Yeah mrlehey, I noticed that too terrain earning came on when the altimeter was showing nearly 600 feet
@2OQP10 жыл бұрын
That's because the GPWS(Ground Proximity Warning System) works in absolute altitude. The altimeters work in atmospheric altitude. They tell the elevation compared to Sea Level. Runway 24L is at 547ft above sea level.

+Joe Patroni Might have been saying it to coach the copilot not to miss calling it out. Actually I didn't hear it.
@CJModiano9 жыл бұрын
+Joe Patroni Being that this is a 767, so probably some mainline operation, the first officer is very very likely a pilot with decades of airline experience, and was a captain at one or more airlines prior to this job. I wouldn't nitpick somebody with this level of skill. Also, he probably asked for the checklist to prompt the captain, as it's the pilot flying's callout. I've done this before as a non condescending way to initiate a flow or procedure when you actually catch a mistake made by a pilot who's way better than me.
@CJModiano9 жыл бұрын
+Joe Patroni nevermind, i just watched the video.. i duno why he called for the checklist that early.
