You can't "flood" a CF6-80C engine, it's not like a carburettor in a car engine. These engines have very sophisticated fuel control units (MEC) that look at many parametres, and adjust fuel accordingly. Even if you slammed the throttle levers to maximum in less than 1 second, the fuel flow will only increase at a carefully controlled rate. I've worked on these engines for 15 years.

Copilot reads the checklist in a weird way: "Altimeter, QNH, crosscheck" and immediately, without waiting for an answer for the crosscheck, he continues with the next checklist item: "speedbrakes".. So at the end you have no crosscheck in this way! Good captain than interrupted the copilot reading with the proper answer.

@peterblanket1, The Auto/Throttle was on as you say but the pilots still can override them if they want to. Once he releases his hand from the throttles the A/T will drive the lever back up to the position he intended at first. Sometimes pilots override the A/T without fully disconnecting, for example, they want to slow the plane down but didn't update the speed command in the MCP, so if the plane is levelling off the pilot will hold the thrust levers while resetting the speed command so as to not spool the engines up innecessarily.

Dreadful landing, that Captain ought to have a serious shouting at by the chief pilot and thrown back into the simulator for lots of training. When you end up floating, you just simply hold the attitude and wait for the aircraft to eventually sink onto the ground (won't take too long at 5 feet), you absolutely DO NOT add thrust. It seemed fairly evident he did that just to make the touch down a bit smoother, but the passengers pay for a SAFE landing, not a smooth one (which it wasn't even in the end anyways). As for the communication between the Captain and FO, I certainly hope they pay a bit more attention in their next annual CRM and safety course.

anyone comment to me so I know. who can tell me why when the captain in the beginning keeps moving the throttles right after he lets go they move on their own again. I know the AP thrust is on but why keep moving them if the AP will do it? thanks
@Nonnicus111 жыл бұрын
To make sure that the engines dont flood with fuel from the sudden adjustment of the AP thrust.

both flight decks look the same. One way to tell this is a 767 is the hydraulic panel over the captain's head, three rotary switches for the electric demand pumps (L and R) and ADP (C)

outside of touch Down zone.... shit landing in my book
@pilotxaq8 жыл бұрын
based on what I saw he did touch down within the first 3000' of the runway, which is part of the technical definition of the touchdown zone. Airline pilots always aim for the 1000' marker as perfect, but that landing was not illegal and even better, he stopped the airplane on the runway and made a taxi turnoff safely.
@torben61378 жыл бұрын
burning off your margin for error by floating Down the runway is NEVER a good idea. look how late the speedbrake lever goes up . he is out side of the touch Down zone, where you should aim to be in the middle of it.. most pilots thinks the same, indicated clearly by the amount of rubber deposits at that spot ;-)
@pilotxaq8 жыл бұрын
+Torben Svenningsen I of course agree the runway behind you can't help you, and I was not encouraging anyone practice floating down any runway, but if you have a 11,000 ft runway and based on conditions on the day end up landing at 3000ft, its different from a 7000ft runway where even if dry I would say go around past maybe 1500 :-)
