Quick question. I just installed the cts high flow cat on my b8 a5 and was curious if they coat the pipe in oil. First start I noticed it had a little smoke coming off it

I can’t remember if this one was coated am sure they probably have a bit on it and it’s likely from the new gaskets and the pipe warming up for the first time, probably wouldn’t worry too much!

Hey does your car consume oil ? I just bought a 2010 A4 2.0T Quattro with 51k miles and the car seems to be working completely good but it’s consuming oil like crazy, 1qt every 350/450 miles and that’s really bad

Rear main seal most likely,there notorious for failure,if it was burning that much oil is notice it coming out the exuast,,clear sign of the seals bad is oil coming from the bell housing,,hopes that helps you out ,,lean codes when ur oil is low is will mean it's real bad

Hey my car had the same issue at the beginning what i changed was the oil seperator , the diverter valve, and when you do the oil change buy the dr.lucas oil stabilizer before i had to be changing the oil every 2k to 3k if im not wrong but now it last me at least 4k to 5k before it hirs the min oil I highly recommend it.

@@carlost0929 I’m currently using motomaster OE plus 5W-30, which oil are you using, was your car burning 1 litre every 350 miles ? I already ordered the PCV valve from ECS tuning just to try to see if that fixes the problem and is not something a lot worse 😓, also how do you use that dr.Lucas oil stabilizer ? 😅

@@samwh4775 This era EA888 Gen 2 motors had (allegedly) a significant design flaw with the piston rings which could cause them to become damaged and allow significant amounts of oil to be burned. I have an 09' A4 2.0T with this engine and it used to burn 1L/1000km's which is around 1qt/590 miles, which is a bit less than what you are using. The only real permanent fix for this is to replace the pistons and rings, and repair any damage done by the rings to the block. Audi used to offer this repair for free due to a class action lawsuit, but the window for that free repair is long gone. Since the car only has 51k miles on it id wager that the block is still fine. You could just feed the beast oil every time you fill the tank like a god damn rotary lol, but over time if the issue is not fixed the issue will cause scoring on the cylinder walls which could lead to engine failure. The "replace rear main" mentioned by some commentors was the original fix offered by audi before they acknowledged the actual cause of the issue, but the root cause is (thought to be) the rings. Note: I am saying allegedly because there was a class action lawsuit in 2015 about this issues, which resulted in audi agreeing to fix all affected engines but not admitting fault, or that there was anything wrong with the motor. Im not a laywer or mechanic, just an owner of this damned motor whos had experiences with it, again check with your mechanic, though this issue is quite well documented in the forums and lawyer's websites. Sorry to break the bad news, this is kind of the initiation ritual for the 09-11 A4 2.0T owners club lol, practically all of these engines have/will experience this issue at some point in their life. Edit: Did my maths on oil usage wrong, has been fixed

Yes, deleting the cat itself will provide (maybe) minor gains, but to unlock full benefits you need to tune it.

You can run a test pipe as long as your ECU gets tuned for it. Could be a stage 1, but specifically would need to have the O2 faults coded out.

I've seen that taking of one of the 2 resonators really makes a good difference then taking the turbo muffler off and installing a better air intake is gonna make it sound amazing. Last step would be a stage 2 tune or sum but thats just imo.

*Very* common issue on that gen A4. Have a 09 A4, had the same issue, only real permenant fix is to get the engine rebuilt. You used to be able to get it done under warranty by audi (there was a class action) but now you have to pay for it out of pocket. Everyone I know with a car with the EA888 Gen 2 has this issue. Either rebuild or just keep feeding it oil though eventually you may start to get some serious piston slap on cold starts which can very quickly destroy the engine.
