Thanks for posting this DAP! I was able to get this service done in my garage by myself because of this video. Hardest parts for me were pulling the COPs, working on the driver's side bank, and reattaching the intake hose to the air filter box. The toughest plugs are the back one on passenger side, and front one on drivers side. Removing the whole intake pipe, and draining/removing the coolant reservoir would help, but as mentioned it's not necessary to get the job done. Most frustrating part for me was my extensions didnt have a lock for the socket, so when I would torque down the plug and pull the socket out, it would get stuck on the plug and I would have to remove the plug and start over. Ultimately I used duct tape to hold the socket to the extension. Also, a note for others... get a 6" extension, any longer and you cant work around the coolant reservoir on that front plug.

Extremely easy, Just did it on my mom's A6 3.0T Avant. And people say German cars are a hard to work on. Our '07 Dodge Durango's spark plugs are a NIGHTMARE.

I have Q5 3.0t and Ford Econoline.. Let just say that the plugs in the Econoline will never going to be changed... EVER unless I take out the whole engine because the it impossible to access and are stuck.

I can't even SEE the plugs on our old V6 Firebird, and they aren't much easier on Ford's V10. On every Audi I've owned things like changing plugs made me wonder why I bought anything else. This was a cakewalk, as the video plainly shows.

same here. I used to have a CTS and talk about a nightmare including removing the whole engine block cover. BTW make sure you didn't drop anything in the engine since the cams were exposed!

Try to do anything on JLR’s 3.0L Supercharged V6 in a Land Rover Discovery 4 (LR4)... talk about a nightmare. The oil change was the only easy thing with a top mount filter and a tube in the oil filler to connect a suction hose to. My biggest gripe with the Audi 3.0TFSI engine is the freaking air intake box. That hose is nearly impossible to get back into the airbox. I had my hose lined up perfectly with the holes and one would go in, but one wouldn’t. It took taking the airbox off and removing a clamp from the hose, then pulling out the piece that actually goes into the airbox, then tapping it in place with a rubber mallet. It’s the WORST air intake experience I’ve ever had. I ended up cutting my arms all up on something trying to do it. Going forward, I just undo the clamp on the air intake hose, then pull the plastic connector that connects the hose to the airbox and remove it that way.

This may be 5yr old video, but it helped me immensely with the change of my sparks ( and also the one about the ignition coils ). Thanks so much for the tips on how to remove the sparks and how to insert them. Really appreciate the knowledge. Installed/ changed my sparks and coils today. Started up the engine and was so happy with the result. Car feels smoother. My 6yr B8 S4 is now purring like a kitten; can roar too when the need arises. Thanks again.

Just did the plugs on my '13 S4. Big thanks to DAP. The coils are a bit difficult to get out but nothing a little gentle prying with a large flat bladed screw driver couldn't help. For me, the hardest part was getting that stupid secondary air hose hooked back up.

First I would like to thank you for providing this video. This video provided me with the a lot of confidence and information. I have a 2012 A6 3.0 TFSI, there is a bit of a difference but not that much. Everything went smooth, 2 hours of fun and a big financial save. For my car model, I can tell that you don't need to take out the hose underneath the air box. It is long enough to pull it out of the way. It made it easier. Thanks again Deutsche Auto Parts. I will subscribe to this channel and watch other interesting videos you might have in the future.

I have just changed my spark plugs 2013 S5 following this video. The plugs and coils had never been removed before (30,000km/18K miles) and I warn you that the coil packs are practically vacuum sealed (1st time being released). I had to use a coil puller with a towel wrapped through it (O ring handle) and both hands pulling hard. Also noticed what appeared to be a little rubber (broken) like a gasket at the end of some of the plugs. I also added some silicone diametric grease on some of the new plugs (not sure if it helps).

Always well explained and well detailed Thank you once again! What would be interesting is a text with every tools you used to do the work and an estimate on the time you took. And I did'nt know it would be that easy to do! Also, is it better to change the ignition coils at the same time? I remember my 2.0T or my friend 1.8T where we would have to change them almost every two years. Thanks!

Are you sure about the torque (28Nm + 90°), because how I read the Label on the Box it is either 28Nm or (without Torque wrench) finger tight + 90°. Same as here: www.boschsparkplugs.net/learning-center/article/421/plug-torque-settings

Did you use NGK plugs? If so, were they Iridium/ platinum? The latter, as I undersatnad it, need to be gapped before installation; the former don't. Also, you can use cable ties to remove the coils ( 2 of them ) if they don't remove easily

I've been getting horrible fuel economy lately and I've been babying the car for the past month. I usually get about 420 miles to a tank, well that has dropped to about 375, and I've been getting about 15mpg vs 25-28mpg which is what I usually get. Is this a sign of a faulty PCV valve or clogged injectors,.. I drove 30miles since my last fill up and managed to burn 1/4 tank of fuel. Any suggestions or comments is greatly appreciated.

Thx for your details DIY's. Quick question regarding the 3.0T engine maintenance for ya- are they expensive to repair? Reason I ask is, I'm looking to trade in my mk6 golf R(I also have a mk4 vr6 that I've turbocharged) and looking at either the B8 s4 or the mk7 Golf R and my shop said the s4 would be expensive to work on of something needed a repair(obviously not just basic maintenance...things like water pump, alternator, etc). Is it anything like the b7 rs4 wher where the entire engine needed to be hoisted out for a good % of repairs?

I agree, they were tough. I used a 3/4" wrench as a pry along with my hand on the connector side. It's almost like a suction effect... once you get the coil up so the guides are clear I found turning it back and forth while pulling helped.

Question for ya. There is some black "gasket" looking material halfway down the hole that can be seen above your left wrist at 4:21. I had some of this come out as I removed two of my booster packs. Is that an issue and how can it be fixed?

every video skips the driver side coils/sparks. the coolant reservoir is blocking the middle coil/plug. I'm not worried about the front or rear one, I'm wondering how to get the middle one out because no matter how you move the coolant tank, it still blocks the middle one.

At the end of the video when he "shows" disconnecting the coolant overflow tank's top hose and then the two nuts holding the tank , that's as far as he goes. Come on. Show the rest. I did everything up to this point and you can't get to two of the plugs because the tank is in the way unless you disconnect the bottom hose. I stopped as I didn't want to have the coolant tank empty out.
