STILL AMAZING-I watched this on vhs constantly in the 80s. It was a sure fire hit at slumber parties where we laughed ourselves silly over their “ groovy” costumes and ridiculous dance moves- but the catchy music, and powerful vocals were irresistible and undeniable. Michael was pure charisma and charm. Classic performance.
@MJQueenForever25 күн бұрын
My boy Mike is singing this and people be like... Smokey, who? 😂 The pure heart and soul Michael put into this was effortless to him. We'll never have anyone like MJ again! One time magical, awe-inspiring, jaw-dropping, amazingly gifted, most talented person to grace this planet! The emotion felt by people whenever he wanted to invoke it? He never fails to draw you in and floor you at some point, especially when he was belting a tune like this out... and everyone else is like, "HOW TF DID THAT JUST HAPPEN, MICHAEL?" And Mike be like... "What? How did what just happen?" It was as simple as breathing to him. Absolutely magical! Love you, #ForeverMichael ❤❤❤❤

Seriously, from birth to death, Michael Jackson may have had one of the best voices of all time. He was certainly amazing in his later years, but those early years when he hadn't even hit his teens, and he is belting out blues and soul like nobody's business...it is a thing to behold! When I was around 7, for my birthday my older brother bought me The Jackson 5 Greatest Hits for my birthday. I treasure it to this day (partly because my older brother left us about 20 years ago, 40 years too soon). Not enough attention is paid to Michael's genius as a child, as well as the genius of his siblings who rode a very strange ride during those early years. You can see the brilliance in clips like these. And he started singing when he was 8 years old! Interestingly, he was born three years after the brother that gave me the album that I cherish to this day. Curious how life works. But to "the next generation": this is a child, backed up by children, singing without autotune. There is magic going on here. :)

People dont know . anytime anyone tells u Prince or Michael, or any other pathetic rival they come up with, play them this performance by this amazing guy. none of these artists including any of his peers measure up to him by any means. he is the greatest child singer that ever lived who became the greatest entertainer that ever lived. Smokey Robinson wrote this song and even jokes that this little kid stole my song and made me believe he lived through that experience . Great female singers have covered this song ever since and none of them could ever meet how Mike sang it as a child. Phenomenal artist and human being

The other main soloist also playin bass is Jermaine Jackson, he was 13 or 14. Jackie was oldest like 16or17. Fellas, these were children performing like seasoned veterans. When Michael said ‘cookies’, he talkin about desert cookies, schoolyard playground sandbox. Their dad (mean)Joe Jackson as not lettin the boys get no parts of the cookies ya’ll tryin to implyin. People talk about MJ of music & MJ of basketball, like they jus dropped out the sky win great. J-5 used to do Apollo & Mike would be standing backstage watching all the major acts on stage, soakin that ish in like a sponge,& he had & it would come out when it was his time bring it. And yeah Jackie was the oldest who happened to sing the highest which was partially falsetto. Tito the guitarist on the left was 2nd oldestlike 15 or 16, who had a bass voice & would sing low parts. That was what most Motown male groups also had, like Temptations, The Four Tops, & The Miracles with lead singer Smokey Robinson having the high voice. Even Jermaine at 13 on the right, playing bass guitar, had a gritty voice for his age, & it actually got smoother &:richer as he got older. You should check some of his solo hits: Daddy’s Home (teenager), Let’s Get Serious, Do What You Did, Don’t Take It Personal. To really help get a foundation for soul music, I’d highly recommend, HITSVILLE: The Making of Motown, & Michael Jackson’s Journey From Motown to Off the Wall.
