I'd like to say tho that I wouldn't consider the lack of verbal practice a downside since that's something we are supposed to achieve by talking to native speakers. I reckon language learning apps are meant to be used for acquiring vocabulary, learning grammar and get input.

@adriandiaz4624, do you think Babbel French is a good choice for an 8-year old to start learning French on?
@adriandiaz46249 ай бұрын
@@JLMABIO I've been using babbel for a while and it's worked wonders mate. The lessons last for 15 minutes max moreover grammar and tenses are very well explained and the app uses native speakers' voice unlike other apps in the market so i'd say give it a go and see how it goes but don't forget to combine it with a ton of comprehensible input
@JLMABIO9 ай бұрын
@@adriandiaz4624thank you, but what do you think of using it for an 8-year old child? Also, how do you like Babble compared to Pimsleur for yourself?
@adriandiaz46249 ай бұрын
@@JLMABIO for an 8 year old child might be a bit boring not gonna lie but you can make him finish one lesson a day which ain't too bad along with some cartoons, videogames in the target language etc. I don't like pimsleur i mean it looks good but not for me
@JLMABIO9 ай бұрын
@@adriandiaz4624Thank you for your input. For me Pimsleur is working very well for French and Italian. I’m curious now in what way/s Babbel could be better, I’ll try it out. Thank you.

Great review! One of the reasons im learning French is to communicate with my mother without anyone else understanding, so babble might not be the best for me because it doesn’t build conversational fluency. The pricing is perfect though, so if they did a bit more with speaking it would be the perfect app for me!

Yeah the lack of verbal practice is the biggest downside...though it is a very good starter program. Maybe give it a one-month trial and see if you like it?
@XxDINOxFROSTxX2 жыл бұрын
Add Pimsleur. It is strictly verbal communication

My reason for learning French is that it takes approximately 650 hours to learn it versus the nearly 3,000 hours to learn Japanese. This last number is on the high end but I review like mad because I’m not a young man anymore and so I could see myself taking that many hours. Why these two languages? Because France imports a lot of Japanese media entertainment as they’re the second biggest in the world even beating out the US in this. Then there’s being able to write and speak French poetry to my wife.

I want to surprise my grandmother with a visit to France on her birthday. She speaks little English. I thought it'd be nice of me to learn French. Plus, I feel like just knowing some French would help understand my culture better.

Thank you for the video, I agree with everything you said. I am an intermediate/beginner learner. I do wish that they had more structure on using the learned words/phrases in sentences. I try to repeat and remember when they are saying within the lessons when you have to fill in the blanks for the sentences and when I listen to the podcast. But for a beginner, I do think it is a good program and maybe even for someone who needs a refresher. I will stick with babel and give it some time to learn more. One thing I personally wish I could do with babel is slow down the speech when filling in the blanks so I can catch the correct pronunciations of the sentences. Again, merci.

As a Hispanic American I learned some basic French in High School. My teacher was from Dominique. I regret not continuing the journey to learn Francais as a third language. I would be learning it in 2023 in an intermediate level. I work remotely in the US; my company is based in Paris. I do write French and speak but need to polish and enhance my skills to the intermediate level. So, thank you Test Prep Insight Dude! Thumbs Up.

Foreign learning app are... all almost the same, and they surely not make me want to learn. They're boring and not efficient enough. I haven't yet found an app that makes sense to my type of learning. If I had the money I would develop an app for visual / kinetic learners. I know exactly what needs to be done.

Thanks so much for the review. Will check the other apps you mentioned for the conversation. I love to study the conversational language by singing along favourite songs 😊
