Jay's was founded in 1927, Lays in 1932. It looks like Lays copied Jay's. Growing up in Milwaukee, Jay's was our go to brand.

We ate at a pizza parlor in the Brazilian beach town of Balneario Camboriu called Pizza HOT, same colors and almost identical logo, but Pizza HOT opened 24/7, while Pizza Hut closed at Mid night. In the same town, they also had a Burger Place named General Pepper, which actually tastes pretty good..

Loved the video. I was born, raised, & lived in Kalamazoo, Michigan, & I grew up eating Jay's Potato Chips. I watched a documentary about fascinating facts about Chicago History on the PBS station from Chicago. Thr Jay's company came about because, Al Capone had his first taste of them, when he visited Saratoga for the horse racing. He loved them so much that when he returned to Chicago, he prevailed on Mr. Japps, who sold peanuts, add potato chips. Your classic offer you can't refuse. He did, & they were sold under the name Mrs. Japps, until 12/7/41, "A date that will live in infamy", since a "Jap" at this time was a disparaging term for one of the hostile forces in WWI, the name was changed to Jays

KFC did charge ofc though. Plus you have store brands that are knockoffs by definition. Might be a case of if the product sells better than the knock off then who cares. However that doesn't mean Disney, Nintendo, Sony, and Microsoft won't sue. Do I need to mention Soulja Boy? He actually challenged Nintendo to take him to court right after get got in trouble with Sony.

Here in the UK, Lidl budget supermarkets sell their own brand of Oreo knock offs called Neo. They look the same, have that very intense chocolate flavour we all know and love that Oreos have, and have the same style creamy filling. However, they cost about half as much as the equivalent sized pack of Oreos. On to a winner then, you'd think. Nope. They sell rather poorly, and most adults won't buy them for their kids because other kids would bully them for "Being too poor" to buy the real thing.

Some knock off cereals are pretty good. I like all the Malt-O-Meal knockoffs I've tried. They make those big bags of knock off cereals for a fraction of the price of the originals. I actually like their Colossal Berry Crunch more than Captain Berry Crunch. Love Captain Crunch cereals, but the rough texture on them always tears up the inside of my mouth while the Malt-O-Meal knockoffs are much smoother and soften up in milk much quicker, being more gentle on my mouth. Yes, I prefer soggy cereal and the Capt. Crunch brands have to soak for a long time to soften up and by the time the rough surface gets soft, the inside is total mush.
