Originally English-built, this custom 1963 Ford Anglia Super Estate has morphed into something totally crazy and fun! We found the Baby British Blazer at the Route 66 Mother Road Festival in Springfield, IL.

Stunning job! Anglia estates aren't common here, but hot rod Anglia saloons are regulars at any custom/classic show; so it's interesting to see the American take on something we exported! Usually they're powered by a hot four pot, or maybe a Rover V8 (the old ally Buick 215 as was), but a 406?!?! Many shoehorns indeed...😳

My dad’s friend growing up had an Anglia with a 428 Cobrajet with a huge blower sticking up so you could only see about 10% of the road in front of you. It was tubbed out with a four link and a full cage. An absolutely beautiful car, he ate the wall at a test & tune session at over 140mph. The car was scrap metal after that but Bill walked away completely unscathed physically. This was late ‘90s that this happened. Bill spent about five years building the car, a few more years racing it but after the wreck he gave up drag racing, bought a bass boat, and never drove another racecar again. He poured everything he had into that car. Blood, sweat, tears, and a bunch of money but the wrecked undid all of that. The man wouldn’t even reminisce about his dragracing days, it was just a chapter of his life that he just closed the book on.
