Did she ever end up crawling on all fours? My 11.5 month old is great at army crawling, extremely fast actually, and can army crawl up steep surfaces but he doesn’t want to 4 point crawl!
@BOBOCK77Ай бұрын
Mine is doing the exact same thing, he is really fast doing the army crawl, he gets on all fours but just rock and and fourth. He is in onesies most of the time so I think letting them get their bare skins on their knees and feet will help with their grip and confidence to move forward on all fours. Some babies just adapt this as their crawking style but I will get mine to play on he matt in shorts and see how it goes.@kutie216

I appreciate this information. My 8 month old does the step crawl most of the time but he also does the traditional crawl. There is another video on KZbin that states if your child step crawls it is signs of developmental delay and it is because the child did not encounter enough tummy time. I’m so glad I located your video to put my mind at ease.

Dear Emma, i wanna thank you so much for this video! Because it's really gives me a peace of mind🙏 In our culture most pediatrician insists that the baby should fist start crawling Army style and then only move to the traditional all four way. And all other formats of crawling are the deviation. Plus if a baby is not crawling by 6 months he is delayed in development. And this makes so many parents including me to worry and go see different doctors. But deep inside i do believe that all these ways are acceptable as long as baby learns moving

Please do a video on proper shoes for toddlers learning to walk!! Should they be worn at home too or is occasional barefoot walking healthy?! Thanks!!! Looooove your channel!!
@krystaltia5603 жыл бұрын
My understanding is that they should be completely barefoot around home until they’ve mastered walking. As they are learning to walk the shape of their foot is changing/developing. Shoes can really hinder that process.
@Alabanza.Musicversity2 жыл бұрын
From my research in early childhood development, shoes should be avoided at all cost especially when walking. Besides, there are soooo many brain and body benefits to being barefoot no matter what age but especially for babies who get feedback from their feet in sensory exploration. Loads of research to be found out there on being benefits of being barefoot, especially on grass, wood or soil/sand for grounding.

@@sapnaaadyavlogs9106 hi friend! Yes, my little one is cautious and it took her a little while to transition towards different forms of movement. When she was around a year old, she began trying to stand more (assisted and unassisted, especially pulling herself to stand). Just a little after her first birthday, she began cruising (very tentatively taking steps while holding on to furniture). Around 14 months, we bought her a push-cart (a balancing toy with wheels where she could walk around while pushing the cart). She took her first unassisted steps by herself a little after 14 months, but she didn’t really transition to walking as her main way of moving around until a little after 15 months. She is now 20 months old and is starting to run.

Kind of relieved rolling counts as crawling. Princess started rolling around 11m, corrected -1m. After the Beta-blocker therapy for a hemangioma stopped, she's even more energetic. Does the pivot and gets her bottom up when laying on her back (type: bridge) and recently on her belly (4 points). :-) but has fun rolling quickly and stretching her legs up. Yet, I feel guilty, I let her down or hold her back. though, it might be she just needed more time.

As a pediatric OT, don't you feel it is very important for babies to get weight through their hands? They would not get this with going straight to cruising or with bottom scooting. Also, if a baby only rolls, are you concerned about fractionation, core strength, primitive reflexes?? Bottom scooting and rolling also do not allow them to learn reciprocation of their extremities which is very helpful in midline awareness and coordination later in life. I am interested in your input, thank you!!

Will likely need to consult a doctor about plagiocephaly. @ 6 months you’ll want to do it soon. Also try not to leave baby on his/her back when not sleeping. Limit use of car seat or reclined position (bouncy seat, etc.). You can prop baby in the corner of a laundry basket as an inexpensive way of supported sitting (it also keeps toys mostly in reach to reduce frustration) and encourage tummy time.

Is the rolling crawl actually considered a true “crawling” style or is it just being able to roll both ways (not crawling yet)? My baby’s doctor considers it a gross motor delay as my 9 month child is also not yet pulling up to stand or going from lying on tummy/back to sitting. My baby does do the aeroplane/swimming, pushing to extended arms and pivoting though. Baby’s been rolling around from one side of the room to the other for ages (since about 7 months), but I’m concerned whether that’s considered crawling or not. Any help or resources would be appreciated!

My daughter started crawling incredibly early but I’m wondering how to help her explore as well as ways to ease my anxiety about it. I have really really bad postpartum anxiety as well as just general anxiety disorder so her crawling is great but at the same time I want her to be able to explore without me being a helicopter mom. She is very random with milestones. She started pivoting and scooting around five months and then at exactly 6 months started crawling.

How would you help a baby crawling who's left radius bone ia missing aswell his left humeral head is missing? Trying to figure out a safe way to help him crawling, his elbow is stiff so his left arm is straight with limited bending but not intentional as he can't bend it for himself and his wrist is rotated inward. Therefore the traditional tummy time is not working for him, we have to use a pad underneath his left shoulder /chest for tummy time to get to the same level with his right arm. Is there any safe way to support his development for crawling?

My son just started crawling at 7.5 months. He has normal movements but he crawls in a swimming motion with his stomach on the floor and uses one arm to pull his body. He uses both feet as well but doesn't use his knees 😮

So is step crawl the same as three legged? They are okay? I heard it’s important to get babies to do symmetrical crawling though so when should I worry if three legged is all my baby prefers? Granted, he pulls up wonderfully and walks with assistant just fine.

My daughter skipped crawling at 9-10 months (she’s 16 now) My son is 7 months and I think he’s gonna do the bear crawl like I did when I was a baby but he doesn’t lift his head up and yells at the floor or bed wherever he is crawling. Is there a trick or tips to help him learn to lift use his arms? Or will he eventually pick up on it as he gets stronger

my 6 month old granddaughter mostly uses objects while on her back to pivet direction or rolls toward an object. But frequently & quickly gets frustrated while on her tummy. It looks like she keeps forgetting how to roll over. Should I be concerned?

My son 6 months old he isn’t crawling but he rolls from back to front he likes to play on his back too .. if their is something he wants he will roll to the side to try get it

Hi @Chris Gustafson because it is hard to play with toys when lying on your tummy, babies do grab the toy and then roll onto their back to play with the toys once they have it in their hands. Rolling from back to tummy or tummy to back can develop up to 7 months so nothing to be concerned about.

My little one experiments with different forms of mobility: Bum shuffle, roll, army crawl, and crusing. However he doesn't pivot much when on his tummy. He prefers sitting and reach out/leaning to work for toys, or rolling, or launching himself forward from a sitting position. Should I be concerned that he doesn't pivot much? Also, how do babies who cruise eventually move into pulling into a kneeling or standing position, and how can I help facilitate this without causing him to refuse sitting/tummy time? My worry is that since he hasnt been a fan of tummy time since sitting up, he doesn't really do 'transitional movements'. Note: if he's sitting on my leg with his knees at a right angle, he can stand up.

My 3 month old tends to use his left arm more to roll, hold himself up and grab at things. His right seems to be just as capable of doing those things but he usually chooses to use the left. How can I encourage him to use his right more

My 7 month old baby is still rollong across the room and is still beginning to army crawl she's still slow on it. Is she on track or should i be worried?

If she army crawling that great! I would make sure she has no socks on her feet that way she can start propelling her self forward. Babies will usually naturally move on to the step when their ready. A lot of people don’t realize that’s emu crawling is just has important at hand and knee crawling both are important for brain development.

Our second son crawled after he walked for the sake of playing with some toys. He did get around, he sat and he’d scoot backwards or he’d roll.

I have an unrelated question. My twins are 5 months adjusted and they dont really play with toys and if they do they get angry at the toys? Also they are crawling but not sitting yet, is that an issue?

My bub is 8 months old and he is not crawling yet, he does a little of bum shuffle and moves around the mat, but he just kinda pull himself to the furniture. I have a quick question, little peanut hates with each and every cell of his body the tummy time, he does the plane but he doesn’t roll much or change directions, he just does the plane and cries to be picked up, although he can push his body up and also hold his body up for a little in the four point position, should I worry or talk with the doctor? Thank you so much

Why does my 4 month baby crawl by putting pressure on his head? Sunks his head to the ground, lift his butts, and push his legs so all of his body moves forward? Bit like caterpillar. Is this normal? What should I encourage to him to do the army crawl or the worm one?

I just saw a YT channel saying army crawling is not ok. Name as movement lessons. Did anyone else check it? Although the way that lady explained issue with army crawling is very confusing.

Hi! If the little one is army crawling by using only one side of their body then it could be a concern (so if they can't move the other side), but army crawling using both sides of the body isn't a concern. Usually what happens is as the bub gets stronger they progress to crawling the more traditional way. I hope that helps!
