Your videos have helped me so much. I'd made the mistake of not doing tummy time after my baby learned to sit up and as a result she didn't know how to roll from her tummy at 7 months. After watching this and your other video about babies who hate tummy time, we got back into it and within days she was rolling! Thank you so much!

I have a 4 month old boy and he is pushing his upper body off the floor. Very wide hand positions but he gets the idea. When he has this wide arm span trying to push himself off of the floor, i gently place my arms behind his upper arms near his arm pits and i just apply a little pressure to straighten out his arms underneath him. He can hold it for about half a second before he flatens out again, but i do it every time he tries to push off the ground because it helps teach him where his hands need to be.

My baby has been trying so hard to crawl. He’s trying to pull both knees underneath him, but he pushes himself backwards instead. He loves tummy time, and playing in his Baby Einstein bouncy seat to strengthen his legs. He isn’t sitting all the way yet, though he can balance for a short amount of time. He often leans forward and face pants.

Thank you for your video Emma ! Just wanted to ask - I don’t put my child in a sitting position unless he will learn himself how to do it . What is the benefits to seat child ? I can see a lot of people placing kids in this position early and they just stop moving and trying. I feel it is too much load on their unprepared spines .

Hi, I'm a First time mom. And I really love all your parenting tips. My baby is 10 months old but he can't sit on his own or even crawling. He hates tummy time. Is it possible or there's something wrong with my baby. I am really worried. Hope you can reply on my comment. Thanks🥰

I think you should consult with your doctor first since online advice cannot be individualised. The fact they can't sit does seem a bit later than usual so it's always good to check for peace of mind! Depending on your country there's different services.

My baby is already going to be 10 months in a few days and she doesn’t crawl… the Dr told us to have her more on the floor and once we did that the first day she started rolling back and forth and being on her tummy more pushing and kind of swimming. I’m getting very anxious and I feel bad that I didn’t know what to do with my baby to help her. My husband is so over protective so that’s mainly why she wasn’t on the floor a lot because he always was worried that she was gonna fall and hit her head… and also because the germs… anyway now we bought her the floor foam letter squares to have more cushion since we have tile. Your vid helped me figure how to help her. Thanks!

The doctor is right mine I put her on the clothes first month and before she was 3 months she start turning and try to move...when I hold my hand under her feet she push against it and move but she don't keep her head up while doing. If she turn on her own she csn turn head up and stay for 30 seconds. So I do believe putting her on the floor help her a lot

@@ayyotube5224 Swimming means your baby is getting good back strength, lifting head and legs at the same time. And moving their arms at the same time. Basically balancing on their belly. All of this is good coordination for alternating arm and leg movements for crawling!

My daughter is 13 months and is trying to walk with push walkers but still doesn't crawl. She will get into the 4 point position but then slides out. She uses her arms to turn and moves backwards on her belly. She also doesn't like being on the hardwood floor and just becomes upset even with toys or on a softer blanket. Any advice or should we just focus on walking?

my 8 month old baby crawls sideways army style and only uses his left side to move. he uses his right hand on other things but prefers his left. he used to prefer right hand when doing things and used to start crawling using both arms but dont know why he started using only his left side. i dont recall any injury, will have him looked at soon. how can i help him use both hands? i tried to help him but he would just roll on his back or get annoyed. hopefully he will start using both hands again. thanks emma, your other videos have been helpful to me. xx

Hi @Caitlynne Lucier is your daughter stiff when she is lying on the ground on her back as well? Or is it just when you are trying to get her into 4 point? If it's hard to move her arms or legs when she is relaxed lying on the ground on her back then I would recommend you take her the doctor who can review her muscle movements.

Hi @Blessy K thanks for the tip - I was thinking this would a be good video to do so glad to hear you would find it helpful. He rolls onto his tummy, pushes himself up on his hands and then pulls himself forwards with his arms. I think it's harder for first borns and single babies to develop in a reasonable time because they don't have any older siblings to observe, mirror and then compete with crawling or walking. In short they're more motivated to keep up with their siblings.

My baby can maintain her 4-point position but she doesn't move her hand, rather tries to move forward with only her legs. She ends up doing a face-plant which can be dangerous on a firm surface. So how do I encourage her to move her hands as she moves forward, to catch herself? She also has this problem when going from a sitting position. She wants to move forward and tries to walk her hands forward but because she is sitting with her knees out, she bends at the hip but doesn't make any progress as her legs are hindering her from continuing. If she tries too hard, she basically does another face-plant. So how do I help her get from a sitting position into the four-point crawl position? The video doesn't address this. Thank you in advance.

@Alaknanda Crazy how quickly development has happened in the last 7 months since this post. Going from being able to simply sit up to running around, climbing stairs, communicating, and understanding what we are asking her to do in normal, everday English, "Hand me that sock. Thank you. Now the other one. Thank you. Give me your right foot. Good job." (She knows to lift left foot next). She also shows greater appreciation for any of the things that she used to have little to no interest in. She's 15 months and has a distinctive personality now. Not just a baby, but a person. It's a bit strange to think about it that way, but when I look at her I see a person with her own thoughts, preferences, and intuitions. Not just a living, breathing human, but an individual. Anyway don't worry too much. Just enjoy your baby, give her the best you have to offer and sit back and watch the magic of life.

Hello there, well my daughter is 7months but can’t roll over and don’t show any interest, but she can’t sit without support . She really hates tummy time even if I place toys out of reach or even when i am laying the floor as well , she doesn’t know to push her her arms in front. Please tell me how to help her .

I meant she can sit . Is it normal for babies not rolling around ?? How to help her to use her arms while on tummy time because when I tend to place her arms in front she start to move her arms in the back and start kicking as if she’s frustrated . Thank you for your advice ♥️♥️♥️

I am the only one who does *not* want her kid to crawl? It's so much more work now to keep him safe! He seems to have an affinity for everything that is dangerous. I miss when I could put him under his play gym and he'd still be there happily playing 30 minutes later.

Hello! By baby has been sitting since about 5 months and I’m the beginning stages of trying to crawl. However, he rolls from tummy to back but has yet to drill from back to tummy. Should I focus on getting him to roll before moving to crawling?

Hi! I would try not to worry as crawling is a skill bubs can learn anywhere from 8 months to 13 months. So your little one still has plenty of time to master this skill!

Hey Pingu yep babies reach their milestones at different times. It is normal for a baby to learn how to roll anywhere from 4-7months. So still plenty of time to learn this skill. I do have a video on how to help a baby learn to roll over which might help give you some ideas.

It really depends on your babies age. When they are looking like crawling they generally spend most their awake time in sitting or tummy time.

@@haukenhung thank you for sharing that with me…my mom had me when she was 43 so…now that i’m 30 without a mom is tough. we kinda had a falling out because of my “step dad” and i wasn’t even allowed to say bye to her at the hospital. i had a baby girl too. it would have been my moms second grandchild, the first from me and the first granddaughter. i know she’s happy and smiling down on us. i wish i could go back in time and do things differently. she passed two years ago this august and it still doesn’t seem real…i hope you’re heart heals and your daughter has your moms eyes.

@Erica85 my son will be 11 months on the 21st, he is still army crawling but not "typically" crawling. And he didn't start army crawling til close to 10 months, it happened out of no where. He was doing the "fish out of water" prior to army crawling and seemed not to be progressing until one day he started to push off with one foot just a few inches. Try not to worry. I know it's hard cause I still worry because he hasn't said his first word nor is he crawling on all fours but my pediatrician said not to worry he will be fine.
@dfc41

@Erica85 also before he was army crawling we tried motivating him with toys and it didn't work, what did get him to start pushing with one foot was my plate of food. I would try that. Even the remote didn't work and he always wants the remote but for some reason my food did it.
