My baby is already going to be 10 months in a few days and she doesn’t crawl… the Dr told us to have her more on the floor and once we did that the first day she started rolling back and forth and being on her tummy more pushing and kind of swimming. I’m getting very anxious and I feel bad that I didn’t know what to do with my baby to help her. My husband is so over protective so that’s mainly why she wasn’t on the floor a lot because he always was worried that she was gonna fall and hit her head… and also because the germs… anyway now we bought her the floor foam letter squares to have more cushion since we have tile. Your vid helped me figure how to help her. Thanks!
@ayyotube52243 ай бұрын
The doctor is right mine I put her on the clothes first month and before she was 3 months she start turning and try to move...when I hold my hand under her feet she push against it and move but she don't keep her head up while doing. If she turn on her own she csn turn head up and stay for 30 seconds. So I do believe putting her on the floor help her a lot

@@ayyotube5224 Swimming means your baby is getting good back strength, lifting head and legs at the same time. And moving their arms at the same time. Basically balancing on their belly. All of this is good coordination for alternating arm and leg movements for crawling!

For anyone inquiring about a helpful tool- the boppy pillow- or a leg-like pillow has been an integral component in our journey. It has helped each stage and milestone so far. From supporting his back learning to sit up, to reaching forward and back to sitting position, to encouraging him to lean back and forward strengthening his core and neck muscles, to helping him turn over into a crawling position (I.e. replacement for a human leg to give him a buffer as he reaches the 4 point position.)

@Erica85 my son will be 11 months on the 21st, he is still army crawling but not "typically" crawling. And he didn't start army crawling til close to 10 months, it happened out of no where. He was doing the "fish out of water" prior to army crawling and seemed not to be progressing until one day he started to push off with one foot just a few inches. Try not to worry. I know it's hard cause I still worry because he hasn't said his first word nor is he crawling on all fours but my pediatrician said not to worry he will be fine.

@Erica85 also before he was army crawling we tried motivating him with toys and it didn't work, what did get him to start pushing with one foot was my plate of food. I would try that. Even the remote didn't work and he always wants the remote but for some reason my food did it.

I have a 4 month old boy and he is pushing his upper body off the floor. Very wide hand positions but he gets the idea. When he has this wide arm span trying to push himself off of the floor, i gently place my arms behind his upper arms near his arm pits and i just apply a little pressure to straighten out his arms underneath him. He can hold it for about half a second before he flatens out again, but i do it every time he tries to push off the ground because it helps teach him where his hands need to be.

Hi @shirley placing food in their mouth is difficult if they have not yet learnt how to drop/release items. It is also difficult if they are using a whole hand grip. I wish I could find your channel earlier.... thanks for the tips... can you please make a separate video to help a baby to sit from lying down position...can you add some tips also
@EmmaHubbard3 жыл бұрын
Hi @Blessy K thanks for the tip - I was thinking this would a be good video to do so glad to hear you would find it helpful. Basically there are two ways to help a baby go from sitting to lying down depending on what they can do. It is a bit complicated to explain without showing you ,so a video would be the better option. I will do this shortly.

Thank you so much for sharing, my baby is 5 months she reaches out on all objects in all directions as she turns using her tummy, then rolling on the tummy and back .... Is it a sign that she's about to crawl?

Hi Emma can you please explain if it’s important for babies who learn how to first walk to get new and good quality/ supportive pair of shoes? Is Stride Rite a brand u would recommend? A mom told me it should never be secondhand as it could affect their gait and posture but wanted to double check with you!! Thanks again
@EmmaHubbard3 жыл бұрын
@Pri USA from my understanding it is best for new walkers to not wear shoes - so be barefoot the majority of the time. If you do need a pair of shoes then what you are looking for are supportive shoes - so you don't want shoes that folds when you try to touch the top of the shoe to the back of the shoe. You also don't want a shoe where you can squeeze the sides of the heel together. I don't think it would be an issue buying second hand shoes - in fact physiotherapist that iI have worked with gave clients second hand shoes to use. Sorry if that is confusing.

My 7 month old daughter has no issue reaching to grab stuff while in the sitting position but when in belly time she does not as much due to the fact that she wants to roll back onto her back. She doesn't like for some reason to be on her belly that much. Forgot to mentioned that she is teething just bringing it up because i don't know if by chance that might affect anything when it comes to belly time/ crawling

Mine is 6 months and wouldn't do tummy time long at all, but is strong and has been pushing up for months. He used to only spin but now can get on all 4s and rock.

@@EmmaHubbard honestly, while watching the video he rolled from all 4s to a sort of sitting up position slowly. He doesn't sit yet, but hes trying to crawl, is that normal?

My baby can roll. But always rolls out of tummy time. She has pushed up with arms but won’t always do it and goes into her superman pose. How do I encourage to push up with arms?

Hello Emma,I need some advice,please. My son turns and twists his left hand and arm towards his back. His right hand and arm is nicely brought to the front, but not his left hand. He is almost 6 months and not rolling, very weak torso and arms and I am lost. Do you think this is serious and I should see a doctor or it's something he will figure out by himself with a lot of practice?

Hey did you get any help? My son also just has very little interest in using his arms for tummy time. He places them back and looks like a frustrated seal or swimmer 😅 It makes him use so much energy and the arms prevent him from rolling over. He rolls over when you position his hands tucked to his side or on his forearms but not on his own. I have started out some of these tips I see online and Im seeing some progress, it’s slow but I’m trying to continue. He was also not showing interest in crawling so hopefully these will help. Did you receive any help? What tips were you told? Pms share, thanks

My daughter is super stiff. She won’t get into the 4 point position. We’ve tried everything. She’s 11 months old and won’t budge. :(
@EmmaHubbard3 жыл бұрын
Hi @Caitlynne Lucier is your daughter stiff when she is lying on the ground on her back as well? Or is it just when you are trying to get her into 4 point? If it's hard to move her arms or legs when she is relaxed lying on the ground on her back then I would recommend you take her the doctor who can review her muscle movements.
