Because donkeys are harder to train and more stubborn than horses, where as horses are easier to train. Kind of like the difference between dogs and cats, some people don't like cats because cats are independent. Donkeys are like cats in that way. Also, they do look kind of silly and sound a little silly compared to their elegant horse counterparts, but the donkey's usefulness and importance throughout history has always outweighed their looks, hence why they are still with us to this day.

It's sad when you think about it that most donkeys on Earth have always been abused by human in one way or the other. They have never had their share of experience of 'life' on Earth. I understand that they played a crucial role to mankind for a lot of things but still . It's amazing to see that they can be just as loving and beautiful as any pet dog or cat . @Kari... Around the world donkeys are so abused and some actually collapse and can't walk they are so overloaded with stuff on their backs. It's tragic. They are so loving and sensitive like all animals. That's why I want the Lord to hurry back. I can't handle the cruelty to kids and animals.

My Donkeys were all like this, when they were young :) . As they grew up, their loving nature grew with them, such that they still love to hug and play, well into their adult years. Donkeys are such wonderful companions.

There’s 3 donkeys in the pasture behind my house and I love them. One I named Cuddle Bug, he wants to to pet only him and gets a bit jealous it i go to pet the others. I love hearing them hollar and I watch them run around playing with each other.

It is just beautiful to see a happy donkey. When you see the cruelty that is metted out to donkeys in certain countries. It will always warm my heart ❤ to see a happy healthy and loved donkey.
