Hard to see Fenya still traumatized & not feeling well without tears in my eyes, and without thinking how happy she’d have been playing with Khanyisa. I’m so thankful, though, that she experienced the love of Adine, Khanyisa & the awesome HERD team. Little Khanyisa sure tried. Especially when they're depressed. Trauma is hard on animals and people, too. Changes are difficult. Illness is a change that some animals just can't understand. It takes a lot of patience and quiet consistancy for their spirit to come back around.❤ She'll be ok You will soon see . Just love her. 🙏Thank you for caring so much.

Poor little Fenya looks really tired today. I hope she has gotten a lot of rest today. She just doesn't look like she's feeling well at all. I'm praying for her and all of you who take care of her. I know it's probably going to be a long process. She's older than Khanyisa and her emotional scars may be deeper. I am all to familiar with animals who have been tortured and starved. Do to being emaciated Fenya can not safely gorge on food yet or she could be hurt further. For those watching online please understand and be patient. Fenya is doing well for what she has been through. Adine and all the carers are professionals and know far more than we do about what is best for Fenya. She has a wonderful veterinarian too. As others have commented please be patient and let the team know how much you appreciate all the carers are doing to help Fenya recover! Fenya is never alone. Fenya appears to have ceased to be afraid of people, but is still turned off and locked in her world. Sad, she still has trouble accepting his new life, I hope he has no hidden disease and he will recover emotionally. 💞 Maybe blood tests are needed?

@Theopisti Panagiotakou True but that is why maybe sooner than later she needs to be with the Herd. They have social structures and will take over the rearing of Fenya. That is what I think she needs more than anything and the freedom of space to roam. Being inside is not natural to her. Little K came there when she was younger and so was able to adapt faster.

Pat, Let us hope that seeing another baby elephant who accepts her will increase her will to thrive--and her milk bottles will help to comfort and increase her body's survival. Our little Survivor has kept herself alive for those long months with that snare and now she is having the staff, the vet and Adine's expertise with orphaned elephants on and by her side!

@@hellok7877 I believe that the veterinarian who takes care of her knows all these needs better than we do. On the other hand, transfusion with blood from another elefant is always a risk for Fenya. So, all of this has to be considered by the veterinarian before tracing the treatment.

Fenya now shows a certain weakness, which I would not be able to define, whether it is due to an organic weakness or whether it is due to a depressive state in the face of the physical and physicological problems that she suffered. And this is something, which needs to be very well evaluated by the veterinarian.

Yeah she looks so fragile and starved still. I'm guessing that's why she is carefull with Khanyisa too. In the beginning Fenya went to the opposite wall of the opening, which means she was a bit scared. Later she walks backwards to the opening, which is an offer of peace, lowering the tension. She's alright with the contact, but isn't sure of herself, feeling weak. She used same backwards walking when first made contact with Adine.

I can't help worrying as she doesn't look similarly "well", for lack of a better word, compared to before her taking a turn for the worse. I mean how can one tell if her body is having some other issue internally triggered by the extreme physical and psychological stress. Since she's a wild elephant it must be very difficult to gage more subtil indications/signal that there's something else going on. That is if at all there are any besides the obvious wounds and and such. Even though I can't help but worry I'm at the same time reassured by the fact that Fenya is most likely couldn't be anywhere else what would give her a better chance to recover and live given the circumstances regarding the great care, attention to detail and love that you all at HERD give us all the privilege to witness you provide first Khanyisa and now Fenya. Many many thanks for that you all do and I look forward to seeing Fenya regain her strength and settling in with her new herd/famlily.

Yes Fenya does look very sad....understandable after losing her entire family.... Once her wounds are healed her integration into the heard will make her feel a part of a family again. The Sheldrick Wildlife Trust have been rescuing young Elephant calves for years and maybe they can give you some guidance as Fenya is larger and wilder than Khanyisa and will be more challenging and I read that the herd were all trained and tame upon arriving apart from Jabulani. ❤️🙏I am so glad that you changed your business from elephant riding tours to rescue and research...❤️

They both are so precious!! I look at Khanyisa and remember how tiny and injured she was when she arrived. I know Fenya will thrive on the love and care of Adine and the HERD! Beautiful and Graceful Fenya....she still seems like shes not quite feeling 100%....i hope that just means shes trying to conserve energy and begin the healing process from the inside out.....khanysia is so gentle, patient and understanding of Fenyas distanc e at times....the two of them will be good friends they already understand each others moods....khanysia is still that shinning STAR ....and Fenya is her little dipper....lol

Dear little Fenya looks tired and weak but she will surely be absolutely fine as she has Khanyisa near her.. I'm sure Khanyisa has already told bubi and lundi amd timisa all about the new babygirl and they are all ready to accept and love on her and one day Baby K and Fenya will be strolling about together intp the wild with their beautiful herd!! Its gonna take time and patience but Fenya is a fighter and survivor and she will get through this!. ❤
