I have seen several comments referring to Ms. Martin as old as ..., I guess it is intended to be funny, but it is not. It is absolutely disrespectful. How can we expect others to respect us when we do not respect ourselves? What a blessing that she was able to work that long. As other cultures honor their elders, we do not.must do the same and better.
@sarahpeters61163 жыл бұрын
@ Liz Freeman : I agree .. But you talking bout these new generation of younger folks .. They don't know shit about respecting the elders nor themselves or anybody else for that matter .. Coming up as a child , I was taught to say no ma'am and yes ma'am , no sir and yes sir to my elders .. But today's generation most younger people curse around old people and everything else disrespectful on top of it .. you right , we as a people definitely need to do better .. to tell you the truth , that goes for all races .. smh ..

@@skinnyu01 YES. Honestly I think that's what's behind that effect. Prior to the internet, we just had to rely upon our faulty CHILD memory. Also, very popular parodies that come later (still pre-internet) get mixed up with reality in our memories. SNL has been a big part of that happening. People really think Sara Palin said that she could see Russia from her house, for instance, when that was Tina Fey and Palin said that Russia was "right there" next to Alaska (equally stupid). Imagine being a kid seeing that. Lol. I believe the Mandala effect is a cultural/technological phenomenon. And you didn't ask me any of that, I know. Lol

Every other cast member was perfectly casted as well. Fred's sweet and caring lady-friend. I used to just sit and laugh for 25 minutes everytime it was on TV.

Ratings & money.. it's just like why do radio stations play the same songs when there are thousands of good songs out there.
@DBMe334 жыл бұрын
That must have been a rhetorical question lol. We all know why. Im familiar with all of those channels. Especially MeTv - extra wt with a side of wt. The only one that **could possibly** have the sincere reason for not airing as being bc of the 'series run & ratings' is TV Land. And thts a stretch bc its basically still an known show. It would have never even made it into a consideration phase with the others. As it is, they already stay within the same pop culture, nostalgia shows echelon.
@DBMe334 жыл бұрын
@@brentad2004 Unless u r referring to computer programming over human programmers & djs as being cheaper, thats not it. And trusting ratings as organic is at least 20 yrs long gone, now. U have something ridiculous like 5 huge media corporations owing something even more ridiculous like 95-98% (& Im being conservative) of the stations(both tv & radio) in the US. U r talking about streamlined operations. Homogenization of content, that, particularly with radio, is computer generated (& even outsourced to companies that specifically do this kind of programming). So what u end up with is a domination of the market w the same kind of stations (regardless of genre) > automated, cloned & disturbingly potpourri-like in content. Those Bob & Jack stations where they play a hodge podge of music are excellent examples of that. That episode of Martin where he visits the station after he quits & Sean tells him how its all automated now & that he just comes in every few hours to change the tapes. They really do tell the public about how things are, but they also know thst 99% of the population are either not paying attention or not believing it as actual bc its being presented as fiction. The local news is just as bad now, too. Same copy/script > try finding info about a story from the local news channel's internet sites & see how often its the same, skimpy, detail lacking copy - often verbatim or with the occasional sentence/word juxtapositions. On radio its the same playlists from market location to market location. Even down to timing. I first noticed radio changing back in the early/mid 90s. Im was a channel surfer, so I would hear a group of songs on one station where I lived, then surf to the same genre station in the next city & hear them again, usually in the same order. U could even hear the same classic song on the same station at about the same time for days in a row. Lately, they seem to change programming about every 1.5/2 weeks (Ive stopped listening as much out of annoyance). An the contemporary top hits channels wiil blatantly play the EXACT same set of songs EACH HOUR. That will drive a person crazy if the are somewere stuck listening to that all day. But it does work. U will start to like songs that u couldn't stand at first, given enough exposure & repetition. I think thats a psychological sanity preservation technique. Intentional redundancy masquerading as entertainment & information. Its prevalent that even independent stations use some of these same techniques, but with enough leeway that its less noticeable if u r not paying attention. They dont do payola now like in radios heyday bc the music industry is so homogenized & therefore more efficient at welding their influence over radio. Its basically their full-on b****** now. Even the college stations are not immune. Every now & then u can find a station that doesn't seem to be apart of the media machine. But somehow, if u listen often enough u can see the tells of how they have decided to keep up w the jones of new radio/media.

I remember this show I forgot all about these actors brings back good memories for me because this was clean comedy back in the days. They did not show black Americans in movies or shows doing well. We always were either playing a character of middle class or lower in a lot of the shows. Ask for me growing up as a kid I do remember this show and thank you for posting it.

I watched a few episodes of 'Baby I'm Back' growing up but didn't like it much, I loved 'Sanford and Son' 'The Jefferson's' 'Good Times' 'All in the Family' and 'What's Happening' 📺 ☎ 📻
