As a first time mom this video was a heaven sent! My son is 7 1/2 months old. He’s been eating “baby food” since right before he turned 6 months. These last few days I’ve been wondering and worrying that I’m holding him back.. because it is SCARY, and thank you for acknowledging that! I can’t wait till his dad gets home tonight so we can watch this together and move forward! Thank you so much.

You are so sweet! Thank you, Alison! I am currently putting together a complete BLW course that will really help mamas ditch the fear and gain confidence in guiding their little ones to be efficient and healthy eaters. It sounds like your little one is well on his way already, but if you're interested in learning more you can join my email list by downloading the milestone chart in the description box. Or just make sure you are subscribed because in the next month or so I will be releasing a lot more content and live webinars on the topic so mamas can ask away! :)) Best of luck! Xx

Massively appreciate this video. I'm a terrified starting this process with my daughter, I keep wanting to purée everything because I'm scared she will choke! But this really makes more sense and she's happier feeding herself. Thanks for posting, I'm feel more confident for tomorrow's BLW experience!. Also nice tip on the crinkle cutter . 💕

That's awesome!! I feel you, it is so scary at first! It is amazing to watch just how quickly they can learn the skills necessary for safe feeding though. Practice makes perfect (or something like that haha) ;)

Thank you so much! I am a little late to the baby led weaning, starting at 9 months, but she has been ready for a while, I'm just scared. she did well and the coughing did scare me, but she was fine. I didnt think this part of feeding would be intimidating, but it is VERY much so.

Can you do another video on what kinds of food to give to the baby at different ages .. what to cook and what not to and stuff like that
@nekoleamber6 жыл бұрын
Hi again! The book gives some suggestions as to which foods are good. It isn't quite in depth enough to squeeze a video out of, but they do have a separate book that is all about the food to use with B.L.W.. I haven't read it, but if I do, I will be happy to update the video! If you google Baby Led Weaning, it should come up.
@firsttimemommy53792 жыл бұрын
I kept hearing the term baby led weaning. But didn’t know what it meant. Thankfully, I know now and incorporate it together with puréed feeding. BLW is working out so well now, although it’s wasn’t like this at the beginning. For any moms, I’d say hang in there. Introduce him or her to different foods and see which they like ❤️

Hi I found your video very didactic. I am moving to try this method because my 8 month old baby dosen't want to eat the food that I offered with my hand. But I am still trying to figure out what kind of foods I should offered. I thought the food has to be soft but I saw you gave raw celery which is hard. So I guess it is fine. And thank you for the information bc I was so scared that if my baby dosen't swallow some food, he is going to be undernourished.

@meiulica5 жыл бұрын
Normally when you start solids with your baby you are advised to introduce a new food every 3-4 days and one food/ingredient per meal so you can see if baby has any allergies or intolerances. But this way, if you give him 3 types of veggies how can you tell?

Our son will be 6 months old in 2 weeks and over been wracking my brain over what organic brand is best, what food to start with, how much cereal etc. Etc...this just helped me alot! Our son had shown major signs of wanting to start solids. He reaches for our food, he eyes it and gets upset when we begin eating. I'm so grateful for this video, I'll definitely be subscribing. But did you give your son oatmeal cereal at all? Like maybe let him play around with it and eat it? Or did you just start out with big cuts of veggies and fruits?
@nekoleamber6 жыл бұрын
Hi Adriann! Thank you so much for the kind words! I didn't give any purees. Just straight to the stick shaped foods and chunks of goodness. You certainly can do oatmeal cereals though! You can even incorporate foods with the oatmeal. Stick shaped foods that he can grasp and use to dip into the oatmeal. Or better yet, let him stick his hands in and get messy! That was the hardest for me hahaha. But remember that this is also part of their sensory development as well. Different textures, flavors, colors, etc are all great! Most important is that the foods are healthy. I hope this helps!

I know Im late, but my question is: every american guide says its just for fun and to develop the process of eating, but I thought(also every guidein europe says this) that after 6m they NEED other ‘nutrients’ besides what they get from breastmilk. My question is how do they get it while they eat themselves, cus they dont get in the amount they would with pureed food. Also did you feed Kai cereals or other things besides fruits/veg? Love your videos, best info outthere!
@nekoleamber5 жыл бұрын
Iron is a big nutrient that needs to be introduced around 6 months. We cooked our food in a cast iron skillet whenever possible and included iron rich foods like eggs, beef, etc. Even the small amounts they consume help and your kiddo is progressively learning how to consume more and more food with consistent practice. I did not offer cereals to start. Just plopped the foods on his tray when he hit all the readiness signs! I’ll be doing a live tomorrow on readiness signs if you want more info on that! Thank you so much for your kind words. It means a lot 💜
