Bless this video. Seriously. I have a baby albino, and I had no idea their eyes were more sensitive and I had been worrying because she was refusing to leave the cold (darker) hide. I've dimmed the light in my room, and there was an almost immediate change! She's so much more active now, and has moved into the warm hide during the day. I'm so so so happy. i made the bad decision of getting my leopard gecko, mikey, from petco. he is very healthy now I must say! so don't worry. but when I got him he was in the middle of shedding, and he was so so skinny, and one of his toes were completely white. when I got home the next day I put him in a moist hide, he ended up shedding and his toe came off too! :( horrible condition that geckos are in in petco. he's healthy now which is very good.

dam i actually purches a gecko also from petco cuz i had been seeing her there like for the past 3 month's and also she has 2 or 3 toes missing on each foot because of her shedding and not having a moist hide and she was quite grown id say that wen i bought her she was close to 5 or 6 month's

I got my first baby leo from petco. it was unhealthy with the lack of calcium disease where its bones are too soft. I fed it a bunch of calcium water and got another (was careful to get a healthy one) from the same store. can tell you from experience that petco salesmen are the *scum of the earth*

a strategy i found that worked for me was (if your gecko is looking at you) look in its eyes and just smile and say hi and stuff, this lets them know you're not here to hurt them and want to be your friend! :D hope this at-least helped a little bit! :D

I got my leopard gecko from petco, who have their animals in TERRIBLE conditions. I went there because it was cheaper but they told me that my adult male needed a 10 gal and 1 hide with uvb and heat lights. He said supplements weren't neccassry but would do him good. Luckily I didnt listen to a word he said and went the better route! He's in a 20 gal breeder with 2 hides a heat pad and a calcium dish & water dish with supplements on every other meal. I will say though,that if you buy from any pet store it should be petsmart, they only keep same size baby leopard geckos together and keep them on repti carpet with 3 hides. I got my Ball python from there and she was in much better condition then José-(leopard gecko).

I keep my gecko in a 10 gallon and she's fine and happy. She's eating GREAT. I haven't had to even worry about shedding problems. So I think they can live in a 10 gallon, but everything else u did is great 👍👍👍👍

It depends on the specific stores where you live, really. In my area, PetSmart is the one to avoid. I think what makes most of the difference is how knowledgeable the employees are, outside of what they’re taught through the company.

It's normal for their tail to be thin at that age. Don't pick him up or take away any hides, just put your hand in and let him climb on. It may take time, and since he's still pretty young he may bite and scream and be skittish. He'll eventually realize he's safe and become curious

I know you don’t want to go to petsmart or petco but look at the geckos there and look at health of them. I took about 2 hours looking for everything good and bad about them and I chose mine. I’ve had him for 3 weeks and he’s healthy. I’ve watched him and compared him to other leopard geckos and all it takes is a week to get a decent one back in shape and everything. Sorry this was so long. Consider petsmart or petco. I got Jasper from petsmart. (No I do not work at petsmart or petco)

toucan they may take a few days or weeks to eat. Wait at least a week before taming. Dust with calcium every other feeding and multivitamins every three feedings. You can feed older geckos superworms and hornworms for variety. For treats you can give them waxworms and butter worms, and you can also try silkworms and Phoenix worms. Dubia roaches are also a good staple diet

I made my own mealworm and cricket farm and I’m feeding them healthy so my gecko can be healthy, I live in Florida so I don’t know if we can get dubia roaches here because I heard something about them being banned or something so they don’t interfere with our populations? toucan sounds awesome! There are other types of roaches you can try. It’s normal for younger geckos to be skinner, the mealworms will help him gain weight. Waxworms are addictive. Just keep in mind that mealworms are a bit difficult to digest :)

Sl1psHrk Random Yes, "fancy" just refers to a more expensive morph. I'm assuming you got one from a chain pet store. Make sure you feed him some super worms with all the right supplements

Sl1psHrk Random stuff Super worms are larger sized worms (resemble mealworms) that can be bought at pretty much any pet store, however you can also buy what is called a wax worm, which is shorter but contains more fat. It does depend on how large your gecko is, which a good rule of thumb (especially for crickets) is the food should be no larger than the spaces in between the eyes. Wax worms and super worms can be fed as treats, maybe once every two weeks, as they are high in fat

Tangled Machina if you had recently gotten a gecko, there probably still getting used to his or her environment. I have 2 geckos of my own, both from petco that I had named Peanut and Butter. They are very adorable and photogenic. Peanut didn’t eat for a day or two but soon ate frequently as supposed to but when I got Butter, he or she didn’t eat for a few more days than peanut. She started eating after a few days though. So I believe it’s normal

I brought my leopard gecko home yesterday and he is adorable! He wasn't picky at all, he ate on the day that we brought him home. Today I'm going to try to get him used to my hand, because he's not quite fond of being handled. In fact, while we were on our way home he was making little squeaking sounds (which I know is a sign of stress) and scratching at the sides of his cup. 😊😁

It might seem bad but I started my juvenile off with a 40 gallon tank (he’s still a juvie) he is doing great now he sleeps in the warmth and explores everyday!! 😌

Hi so to start off I absolutely LOVE your channel. It helped me with my leopard gecko Buddy! So to start off Buddy is a rescue from petsmart. Okay, no matter how much i hate supporting their shop and the way they care for their animals i couldn't leave him there :'(. His tail was super thin and i believe he was getting bullied by a gecko bigger then himself. They caged what looked like a 6 month with a few week old D:(. Anyway hes shedding properly and looking good now after a month of TLC :). So i just want to say thanks for you help with how to care for a leopard gecko. Ur the best !!!^^ thanks!- from Me and my little buddy

Animal lover and savior! aww thank you so much, that was so sweet :D :D Im glad to hear Buddy is doing well. Its a difficult decision when you think 'i dont want to give this company anymore money' but 'i cant leave this gecko like this'. Its a shame they still get away with it :'(, but good to hear Buddy has a better home now :D

Got a baby, via mail, almost 4 days ago. Some eating. I thought more, until I cleaned out the faunarium today and found a couple of bsfl and a mealworm. All happy, healthy and un-eaten. It is eating some though because its had at least 2 poops in the 4 days. But one in one corner and the other in another corner, but in the wet hide! I wouldn't have even known if it weren't for cleaning. Another reason to stay on top of that. I guess its still working out a "forever" pooping spot.

Ah, I remember when I first brought Glory home. Good times, good times. It's almost been two years.... I remember the stress of having to find small enough feeders for her...making sure she had enough heat...and having to practically stalk her until she came out of her hide because she would always poop in it. It was one of the magnetic ones where you remove the piece on the outside so you can see in it. Within a week or two it was full of crap, and cleaning it was just too much work. So I ended up throwing it out and putting in a bigger, but easier to clean hiding space.

Weirdanimalboy ah those microscopic crickets are the worst (if thats the type you're talking about) :') when ziggy was little thats what she was fed on, oh my goodness such a pain! haha. Ah no :') one gecko decided it would be great to poop in the water bowl, so i ended up repositioning the water bowl.

Leopard Gecko Pinheads! Those gosh darn pinhead crickets! You could barely pick them up with tweezers without killing them. I switched her to mealworms as soon as she was big enough. :\

Leopard Gecko I'm pretty new to your channel, so I was wondering if you did a video about in inserting heat mats under your tank? And if you put a heat mat over a wooden dresser or stand would it start a fire?

Hypeman If you get a heatmat at a pet store it should come with some little nubs that go on the bottom corners of the tank. They'll raise the tank and keep the heatmat from touching the dresser.

Your are so detailed in such a short video and I love it. I watched this because my baby leopard gecko isn’t eating and I just got him 3 days ago from Petsmart. As I was adopting him I asked what size tank I should get and their exact words were “the bigger the better” and now, you’re saying that they don’t need as big as a tank I have? I just wasted lots of money and scared my little baby by not making him comfortable and overwhelming him with so much space. Not happy with them right now. Btw this is a great channel!

Kyndall Anderson definitely don’t but from petsmart. Your Leo should be fine with multiple hides and maybe a divider :)
