These animals are so lucky to have you. My 18 year old wants to get his vet tech license and criminal justice and come volunteer with you all. He is watching season 3 now. God bless you all. When I was lucky to be an OB RN/delivery RN , I had a few "whimpy" babies we had to help eat too. Cheeking works. So did rubbing from bottom of chin to down throat like would be swallowing. It worked with premies really well.

Your Foundation is so remarkable, I love how you allow all of us to see the step by step process that happens before the monkey babies can be released to a troop. It really fascinates me and I’m so impressed with what everyone does. It’s even fun when we get a peek of at what goes on behind the scenes. Gosh those bushbabies are *fast*! Love seeing them peep out of their nest. So much thought goes into the design of your rehab programmes and environments. Love the provision of the swing and so do they! The little one at the end really does seem to find relief from the nebuliser. ❤️🐒❤️ It just warms my heart this Holiday to know these little ones are getting a 2nd chance for a family thanks to all of your hard work and care!❤️❤️❤️ ***I'm curious if anyone's tried putting the old nipples from the "Red" or standard feeding cage bottles inside one of the stuffed animals for the babies to suckle, teethe on? Then possibly the little ones might not cling to each other so much, or try to suck on each other's ears, fingers, etc.??? When I worked in the neonatal infant ward at the hospital we would do something similar for the premature babies to help them develop their suckling response. I just thought I would ask, offer the idea in case it could help. ***

Helpful for possible aspirations, or just viral infusions of the lungs or any other time you have any evidence of anything fluid like in the lungs (as opposed to in the chest cavity, around the lungs) is to implement lung physiotherapy, or postural drainage along with percussion. Its very hard to get an infant that young, even with secretions loosened with aerosols, to actually bring whatever is in the lungs back up through the bronchi and into the trachea and up into the mouth when they just do not have the muscle strength required to actually cough it upwards against gravity. The better way is to hold the infant in the position that allows the lung lobes to actually drain out, which means holding then in different positions where they are more head down and even sometimes upside down for short periods after aerosol treatments while also thumping on the chest wall rhythmically to set up some vibration in the chest itself which also helps the fluid/mucus/infusion to drain out of the little air sacs in tiny airways and into the larger ones, and eventually up into the throat where they will be stimulated to cough it out, or as some babies do swallow it - wont hurt if they swallow even if they have an infection, gastric acid is a pretty good killer of things. If you are unsure of the right positioning for a primate check the internet for positioning for chest physiotherapy for human infants and babies, as the anatomy is pretty much the same - sites that deal with care of CF babies and infants have some of the best examples for check physiotherapy. Vets site often are not the best as they tend to be considering the physiology of dogs, cats, cattle horses, lams and such and clearing their reparatory systems and they are build a good bit different. One of the great reasons for pinning/plating rather than casting a fracture is that there should be little time during which they lose muscle strength or suffer any nerve damage. Of course, they may have to be kept from doing tings like high jumping and such that might dislocate the pin but they should have been having plenty of change to walk and use that leg to maintain healthy muscles and range of motion once they got over the initial pain from the incision, which is usually just a day or so in a young animal. He really should actually be close being well o the way to having a good bone callus built up and that bone should not at all feel weak to him so its odd that he is not using it just as well as his other leg, which would be expected at this point. The reason for placing pins are that you don't have to have a major long term physiotherapy period to get the leg fully functional again. You might want to have that leg xrayed again to make sure a pin has not backed out and is making movement more difficult and so the vet can judge if there is more loss of muscle tone or there is some nerve damage

I wan't you to know how much it makes my heart sing, to see such dedicated people caring for GOD'S little creatures. The creatures must be important to GOD, because HE created the creatures before HE created woman. I can watch for hours upon hours, and I do like to hear the stories of each one, and how they progress. I do believe a recap of your facilities, the volunteers, where bottles and food for the monkeys is prepared, sleeping quarters etc, should be including about every 3 to 6 months. When people see how you have to sacrifice in order to help these little monkeys, maybe they would donate and help out a little more. GOD bless you all.
