A little tip from a mom of 4....let her hold an extra spoon or two in her hands while you are feeding her...that way she feels like she's doing it too, and her hands aren't free to grab the one that you're feeding her with....

How sweet! You should look into baby-led weaning too (I know of quitw a few mamas who do both purees and BLW), she's so cute wanting to take an active role in feeding herself, reaching for that bowl and spoon!

BLW by itself scares me! 😆 We will start with purees and probably gradually move into something like that, but I have heard too many horror stories of little ones choking, so we will be sticking to purees for a while. ❤

A good tip for development is to let her hold a spoon herself! It teaches babies that when they hold a spoon it’s time to eat. Also, it helps you to feed her easily! 😊 I’m an early intervention specialist and recommend this tip a lot to families!

Awww so cute!! We just started solids with my son a couple weeks ago it’s been so much fun. We originally wanted to do baby led weaning but after trying it for a day it scared me way too much and I had to ditch that plan lol! Did you consider BLW at all or did you always know you would do purées?

That scares me so much!! I've heard way too many horror stories of little ones choking, so no, I never, ever considered starting with that. However, if we're out at dinner or something, I may smush something up and give it to her that way, but we are going to stick with purees and very soft, mushed food for a while and slowly incorporate things as she's ready. I will let her take the spoon soon to get her used to feeding herself though. 🥰 Good luck, mama!!

Jessica Elle I feel the same. I studied about it and took a course and I really Liked the idea of it but once we tried it it made the process so scary and filled me with anxiety and I wanted this experience to be fun and happy so I decided to stick with mushy and purées foods too! I’m glad I’m not the only mama who felt that way about BLW since it’s the big trend now lol!
