And conquers it! He is trying to work out how to get to the top so he can jump out of the playpen. Clever little ham worked out if he ran up near the centre, the wheel didn't move and he could get over the top (eventually!)

My hamster is adorable he is a albino with red eyes and bites but is so cute 🥰

He sounds lovely. He shouldn't bite unless he's scared or in pain (or unless your fingers smell of food)! Can help to wash your hands before handling and use plain soap - not honey or flowery scented! Maybe that will settle down.

Thank you 🙂. Sadly Newtus Hamsterus went to the Rainbow Bridge a few years ago. But we have another cream Syrian who has the same personality as him - he is almost his double in looks and behaviour!

flying saucer isn’t safe for hamsters, simply because it curves their back!
@hamsterhub3 жыл бұрын
It's fine for occasional use in a playpen or as an additional wheel in a cage :-) I agree that their main wheel needs to be an upright wheel.
@squidward81432 жыл бұрын
its 12 inches so it wouldnt curve their back unless they used it for a long time :)

Jojo Run awh how amazing! Could you make a video on how you made it?

Hi :-) I bought it from Zooplus - have a look on their website under "wood runs". It is four pieces that slot together at the corners. So you can either leave it up if you have space, or take it down and slide the pieces under a bed eg.

Where’s that clear wheel from
@hamsterhub4 жыл бұрын
Hi. I am not sure if it's made any more. It was a Karlie wheel from Germany - it is basically the same as the Karlie/Trixie wood wheel - same stand - but the wheel part is plastic. I got it to fit in a low cage originally as it was the lowest 11" wheel I could find but it's now used in the playpen.

I need one for my syrian hamster. What size does that wheel have?
@hamsterhub4 жыл бұрын
Hi. That's a 30cm (12") flying saucer. Syrians need it 12" to run properly. They really need an upright wheel as a main wheel so they run properly - but if you have space for both, the flying saucer is a nice extra. I was just using it in the playpen :-)

pretty sure with flying saucers they need to be bigger than a regular wheel since it’s at an angle so a 10 inch would be like a 8 inch regular wheel

Hi. It's fine - it's a 12" flying saucer - they don't come much bigger!
@Katielomax73 жыл бұрын
Nope, its the perfect size for an adult syrian never mind a baby.
@C.Woodford3 жыл бұрын
It's the best size for a Syrian hamster, it's 12" anything bigger would be too big I think. If it was smaller it would be too small. It's also fine since it's a baby
