I love the Elvis 68 Comeback Special. I've repeatedly watched it many times in its entirety. Elvis was absolutely at the top of his game. I especially love this part of the concert. Elvis was rocking while being so relaxed and having such a good time. "Baby What You Want Me To Do" was the perfect song for Elvis to have a fun jam session with.

I love that special and I wasn’t even born yet to enjoy it when it first aired. He showed he could play guitar and I wished he shown that more in his concerts. Though normally he would where the guitar for the first couple songs he even himself showed he wasn’t really playing it. The man was the best artist ever and he could do it all. I didn’t know of him until I saw on the news he died and when my mom bought my first Elvis record after his death. I was hooked and until the day I die Elvis will be my number 1 music artist. That 68 special was as I think it was Sunny West or someone in his inner circled told Elvis on the phone THAT WAS THE REAL ELVIS!!!!

Elvis never looked better than he did here. He was tanned, he’d been working out, hardly an ounce of fat, voice was awesome, he was motivated and full of energy all wrapped up in that incredible black leather outfit. Reportedly the Colonel hugged him after the show, one of the few times he showed any actual emotion for Elvis that wasn’t money motivated. If only he hadn’t signed Elvis to that ridiculous 5 year treadmill Vegas contract to finance his degenerate gambling the same way he signed him to a treadmill movie contract in the 60’s.

Hi dani...I love the 68 special too...to think it almost didn't happen. He could hardly stay seated he wanted to get up but I don't think the guitar had a strap so he stayed in the chair...barely!!! Haha! I read somewhere that he had a photographic memory ( I think it was during an interview with Charlie Hodge) I don't think he read music...or had vocal lessons . Yet the band members said he always knew if something was off key or the rhythm wasn't right. He instinctively knew.Plus you can see he often conducts the band and the back- up singers with his hand and arm movements. He was so gifted...plus some of his movements were influenced by his years of Karate ( he was a black belt although I am not sure the degree because I have read different accounts as to his level) . He rode motorcycles...and enjoyed horseback riding ..he had horses and all kinds of animals at Graceland. He was an avid reader also..What a guy!!!😍🎤🎸🏍🥋🐰🐱🐴🐒🐶🐎🐐🐓🎹🏈📚📖

Awesome Dani. Two thumbs up :-) Thank you for reacting to the video that I suggested, as Elvis actually performed this song a few different times when they filmed the two "sit-down" shows on the same day (6pm and 8pm). This particular version is (IMO) the best of them all, it just has everything going for it. He also performed this song once during one of the "stand-up" shows, and that one is very good as well.

I think us Elvis loyal fans should have the president or the governor of tennessee make it known that we should have a Elvis day on the calendar and celebrate it always dani I would love your input on that idea does it have merit to make it happen please let me know your thoughts on this ok talk soon Bob.

Sound and picture not in sync. The morons who claim that he could not play the guitar, go take a hike. He was a natural, and had «a musical ear» that astonished everyone from celebrated songwriters to fellow musicians. He learned a song in minutes after hearing it. Too bad he never had the will, courage or incentive to play guitar even more. Johnny Cash stated that he was a fabolous rhythm guitar player. This version is pure blues, and as you’ve stated earlier, it is so easy to forget about Elvis as a musician. His looks and charisma stunned everyone from Tom Jones to Shirley Bassey. In the 68 TV-special he looked like something from outer space, so perfect that it should be illegal. Bill Belew, his costume designer, was rendered speechless after seeing Elvis in this outfit.

I know. I'll never understand that about the guitar playing. I didn't even know that anybody thought that until I heard someone mention it a few years ago. The guy who mentioned it was a guitar player on another KZbin channel and he was saying he couldn't believe that anyone thought that Elvis couldn't play. I play guitar myself and (especially during this comeback special where it's up close and intimate) you can see that he is making all the chord shapes and he's doing runs and licks and doing them very well.

Elvis was a child prodigy. He started singing, he said when he was two. At age eleven he had his first guitar. He always took it to school, all over the neighborhood It was always with him. He had a photographic memory. He never had to read his music. His memory allowed him to sing, lift himself off the balls of his feet and dance and play guitar all at once. Remarkable. In the movies he knew his lines and everybody elses. When the choregraphers were practicing and it was Elvis turn to try it he danced it all on the first try. Many people commented that he was the most intelligent person they knew.He was so well read.Constantly reading. He could talk on almost any subject on very deep subjects. Many said you felt his presence even before he entered a room. His own cousin at Graceland said he could not look directly at Elvis or he would continue to stare.Reported by many that he was even better looking in person.Elvis believed all his amazing beauty and abilities came from God and he did not understand why God had bestowed so much on him.Elvis always searched for that answer and many questions more.He always carried the Bible on trips. He quoted from it often. He himself has so many inciteful quotes to live by. He said the secret to happiness was someone to love, something to do, and something to look forward to. The world loved and loves him.More people warched Aloha from Hawaii, 1.5 billion out of 3.5 billion in 36 countries, than watched the first moon landing. You can credit him as having wiped out awful Polio. Nobody was taking the vaccine. He went on the vaccine campaign, took the shot, and the rest of America followed his lead. He started the USS Memorial.A big donor to so many charities such as St. Judes children hospital. There have been 1000 plus books about Elvis.Much lies and fabtications.Be careful what you read.Every person who met him liked him.Such a wonderful man.I could write a book about his admirers and good deeds alone. What is the most important is he is a professed born again Christian. Thus the gospel music passion. His spiritial inspiration was so great , according to Jerry Schilling observing Elvis recording How Great Thiu Art, that Elvis trembled and turned sheet white.Indeed, there will be no other God chosen Elvises because God himself broke the mold.
