Baby wild rabbit makes a human friend

I caught a wild baby rabbit in my lawn. It jumped from my hands in fear and hopped away towards a neighbor's hiding cat. The cat gingerly lifted the rabbit by its neck it and started nonchalantly walking away. As I approached the cat, it was kind enough to offer the rabbit to me.
When I held it again, its little heart was racing. This video shows the rabbit after it had calmed down and, perhaps realizing I was not going to hurt it, decided it didn't want to leave.
Forgive my appearance as I had been working in the yard not shortly after a long drive. Usually I look worse.

When I was in high school, we had a teacher who had a pet rabbit, Bunny, for the class. She was actually wild and was caught many years ago when it was young. She wasn't too trusting of people, but that was mostly because some students were not too gentle with handling her. I was one of a few students who would hang around between classes and just lounge around on the couch in the back. I often spent time reading star wars novels and Bunny would often sit between my feet and take a nap. I did enjoy the fact that I was one of the few humans that she enjoyed sitting around with. I guess because I never tried to pick her up or chase her around to pet her. I always let her come to me, which she always did. While it's best to keep wild animals in the wild, that baby rabbit would have grown up and behaved likely just like any other rabbit.

My cat brought me home a baby bunny that was just like you described. But at the time I didn't know any better, so I bought a $200 hutch and $50 of hay and bedding. Then a water dish and snacks and bananas and kale and romaine and and and etc. It's been a couple of months and Stacy is a big girl, running around the house with my 5 cats chasing her. They can't catch her lol. She hops and spins in the air. They're all exhausted but are getting lots of exercise. Now she's just another part of the family. She's even got me eating more leafy greens lol.

Did the same thing, once. Free roaming cat ate all bunnies in a nest we were protecting except for one. We found him hiding in the grass the next day - thank goodness, since we were mowing the lawn. We tried not to touch him too much, put him back in his nest and hoped that the mom would come back. Instead, the cat returned and ate him as well. It still weighs heavily on my conscience.
