I was desperate by the time I found this video, so I gave it a shot. It worked! My baby is about 3 weeks old and has always nursed like a champ. Last night he completely refused. I pumped twice, and he immediately took the bottle both times. Still, I know I can't pump and bottle feed all of the time, so I tried the bath. It took a while but he did eventually start rooting around and latched on. He fell asleep while nursing in the bath, but after we got him out and dry and swaddled I nursed him again, and he fully drained one side before taking a nap. Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us. I wouldn't have known what to do otherwise.

I will try this tip, my son is 8 weeks old I’ve tried everything to get him to latch but failed. He used to latch in the first week but I rushed by introducing bottles because I was nervous that he’s hungry, then gradually he started crying when I offered my breast. Every time I try I had to switch again to bottle. Nipple shield by Philips was a little helper but then he refuse it after 5 minutes! I’m still trying every day to get him to latch on :(

Also look up paced bottle-feeding that can help teach baby how to work for milk which help when bringing them back to the breast.

I look forward to trying this with my 13 week old! I’ve been EP’ing since about 4 or 5 weeks old. She would nurse for 1+ hours, not get satisfied, fall asleep...we tried it all! Mom & baby we’re getting so frustrated! But I’d like to try again now that she is older. Milk supply is great! I’m just hoping we don’t run in to the same issues...

RaKay Reyes She also struggled to maintain a good latch. She had a posterior tongue tie (corrected) and I have large augmented breast and small nipples. Nipple shields helped...

@@DoneNaturally we have tried lansinoh and medela and he really hates them. I can kind of get him go latch after a bottle the past few days but he wont actually pull milk out and pulls off. My supply is good because i can put milk in his mouth. Last night he tasted it and kind of just licked it instead of nursing

Has anyone done this effectively with a 9 month old. We've been having a heckova time getting him back to breast after basically preferring bottles due to daycare, illnesses, etc.

Especially at 9m - only offering food and water or milk in a cup - avoiding bottles - but pumping while they are refusing to maintain supply / they come back. They want to suckle … have you seen the nursing strike one?

Alicia Dill Make sure the type of shield is a good one. Haaka makes one that is not ok. Medela and Lansinoh make good styles. Best to use the largest size. 24mm usually for most babies/moms.

I love you so much! Your so helpful and have given such amazing advise. My little one is struggling on the brest only hangs around for 5 mins every hour we where told she has a lip tie but id love to work with it! Can you give me more advice for lip ties.

My son was preemie... will this work on a baby whose 1 year 9 months adjusted stopped nursing in April or may due to teething and its now july and is preferring bottles? Some back ground, I’ve a 2 month old who won’t latch ... I’ve tried everything in my power and knowledge with no results... in hospital she didn’t latch well due to extremely flat nipples & high arch (which was diagnosed at 6weeks by LC & not in hospital) at hospital they scared me by giving her formula feed as they said she wasn’t drinking BM & scared me too much to where I started to pump as I didn’t want to give formula & ever since I’ve been pumping & giving her my milk in bottle & still been trying to direct latch her with no success... I want to try your suggestion but I don’t have a tub, we have a standing shower. So my question is how can I achieve rebirthing without a tub to lay & relax with baby in?

Done Naturally : I’ve tried 3 different nipple Shields, she does drink a bit from it but pulls it off every time. I’ve tried several positions as well, even having her on me while walking around; a friend suggested to try feeding while walking , often calms babies but that also didn’t work for us. I will try sitting in shower with her and see if that helps .. thanks for responding back.

Have you done baby wearing without a shirt on so that the environment is around the breast and latching can be accidental? That’s sort of what re-birthing is like too. We want to avoid the “pressure” to nurse but have the environment be friendly so that baby is like - oooops look, I just did that.

Will this work on a 9 month old baby ( corrected age is 8months). He stopped latching when he was about 3months old Only problem is now when I try to latch him, he bites the nipples really hard and it makes me cry out of pain. He has 4 upper teeth and 2 lower. Waiting for your reply. Thank you 😊

If you kept up your milk supply with pumping, yes! I've had moms begin nursing even at 8+mo. A nipple shield may also be a little helper.

Do you have a method more c-section mom friendly? I like to send your videos to my moms as we are not seeing them here at WIC. C-section moms can not get into the bath right after having their babies. It's been hard for me to find videos discussing a c-section friendly re-birthing method.
