I loved this album. Totally has the emotion of Holywood but with his more modern style. I'm also really happy with how clean/crisp it all sounds. Way more focused than has last few albums were when he was supposedly struggling with his addictions. Can't wait for the 2nd part of the album because he really put his heart & soul into making such a good comeback album. I especially love the title track the lyrics feel so personal for him with everything he's been through I love it.

I couldn't agree more! This is his best album since Hollywood in my opinion. It may be short, but less is more in this case...you can hear the work put into every single song with no filler! This has all the elements of his discography but never feels like hes chasing it. 9 out of 10 for me. Love your channel 😊 keep it up man

I think Sacrifice of the Mass is one of the saddest songs Manson has ever done. Strips away the metaphors and just gives a very real insight to how Manson feels, but in a more fleshed out way than what he tried to do with High end of Low or We are Chaos

15:40 the repetitions of the word "shame" remind me of the fight song from Holy wood where we used to hear the same repetions but with the word "fight". The fight song is by far my favorite Manson songs and Nod if you understand seems to be a real tribute of that song indeed but also a reall love letter of Holy wood (my favorite album of this artist) One Assassination Under God is already a classic and a true masterpiece. Don't get me wrong, it's one of the best come back in history.

Enjoyable video brother. It's awesome to see someone else enjoying this album as much as I do. The opening song is perfect, the ending is amazing and fitting. I can't say enough good things about it. You can tell the effort that went into making it, and the seriousness of his approach to it. You can also tell he's trying to come to grips with his own mortality and has a better understanding of himself. Great job on your video.

This album mesmerized me. My entry in his music was Pale Emperor, then I took a deep dive into his discography nearly 10! years ago. I love every album, even the weaker ones. HEOL gets too much hate imo. But THIS is probably one of his best work. OAUG is such an epic banger, Meet me in Purgatory is my favorite, this chorus is so good and catchy, just like Flowers of Evil. I hope, there will be a Chapter 2 soon.

Review Marilyn Manson’s ‘One Assassination Under God - Chapter 1’ is a fantastic, well written thought-out paced album. It was a wise move to bring back Tyler Bates to the writing team and pick up where they left off in 2017 with ‘Heaven Upside Down’. This is a great evolution of that winning formula, only this time Manson is sober, focused and performing better than he has since the early 2000's. No more wayward, unmeasured, sloppy screeching, just pure clarity with sharp poignant laser focused vocal performances encompassing his full arsenal. The story, emotion, and most importantly the atmosphere, makes for a strong and compelling listen. Bookended with strongly theatrical opening and closing tracks the album goes through many gears and influences. The opening track ‘One Assassination Under God’ is a classic Manson prelude that slowly opens the door to the slaughter house and pushes you in. Ominous, foreboding, theatrical, dangerous and intense, a nightmare is coming as screams of ‘Assassination’ pierce your ears! There is a torrent of blood covering the walls. A conceptual retelling of the assassination of JFK, mirroring his own metaphorical murder in recent years, welcomes you to Manson’s death circus. ***The music video was released for this track as I was writing*** ‘No Funeral Without Applause’ is a song that quickly moves from an autopsy to the operating table. It paints a picture of death by a thousand cancel culture cuts, both from his detractors and those that were self-inflicted. His death was televised as many stood up and applauded regardless of fact or fiction. His wife, close friends and fans have reached out and pulled him from the hole inside himself to reanimate and resurrect his corpse. ‘Nod If You Understand’ is pure unadulterated pain with Manson stating this is what he was designed for, to speak that language so others may find solace in his expressions. The title is a clever turn of phrase that is twofold: it encourages the audience to headbang along to the track as every Mansonite will, but also to state you understand the need for safe expression of extreme negativity through a healthy medium. With strong over tones of ‘Angel with the Scabbed Wings’ and well-proportioned hints of ‘Cake and Sodomy’ and’ I Want To Disappear’, the song becomes a ferocious cauldron of hate, anger and chaos peaking with the lyric “Look at yourself for someone to blame, You're the only one who should be ashamed”, as the mirrors are held up towards the cause of the problems at large. ‘As Sick As The Secrets Within’ was the first single that was a cleverly measured resurrection of a career, that for all intense and purposes could have been dead and buried in the age of trial by social media. A tasteful and intelligent lyrical self-assessment reflecting a man on his knees, a slave to drugs and prisoner of the accusations that had silenced one of the best lyricists of our time. Manson as ever uses his gift for the written word to rebuild, rise above and be the best version of himself. His intellect has always attracted me to him. The lyric; “A reason for me, for me to get by, Became a need, a need to get high, Then into a life that was no life at all, No life at all”, brings a tear to my eye and joy to my heart. The way he sits in the bath and expresses to the camera in the music video, squeezes my heart and lungs, forcing them to breathe deeper to control the devil of addiction. ‘Sacrilegious’ is a track that I have wanted to hear since the Mechanical Animals era finished in late 1999. The glossy Glam Goth Rock is the wave of euphoria my brain craves on a regular basis. The warm fuzzy bass and synth combinations accompanied with melodic earworms have had this track on repeat regularly since its arrival. The playful and mischievous lyrics, “Are you here for the resurrection? How deep did you dig my grave? Cancel your subscription, You're the one who needs to be saved”, give me such a kick. The subversion from metaphorical funeral to comeback parade whilst celebrating his new band mates is perfect and so much fun to see in the music video. A channelling of peak Nine Inch Nails through ‘Death Is Not A Costume’ whilst also revisiting a blend of 2009 - 2015 Manson was an interesting and smart choice that pays off. Doing this now without all the drugs, blockage, no sense of direction and confusion, and instead with a real clarity is most welcome. The track lyrically feels like a real desire to evolve from his previous musical incarnations and association with a soft-spoken desire to be accepted for those changes moving forward. Paying homage to old school 80’s Goth by laying down those classic beats and vibes through ‘Meet Me In Purgatory’, feels like a real effort to hypnotically persuade the fans to rally behind him. He ask us to pick a side after all the recent, as of now, unproven allegations. Now more than ever he needs the fans. Which flag will you hold up when you assess the man, red or white? ‘Raise The Red Flag’ is the second single from the album and comes across as a direct act of musical retaliation against his recent accusers. They lyric “It's time to beat up the bullies and wash the bullseye off my back, My red flag is your white one soaked in blood”, says to me that the red flags they created when demonising Manson, are their victim white flags of surrender soaked in the blood of the lies and damage they created. His menacing stares into the camera show you how angry he is about the last 4 years. Whatever happens next legally, the man sure looks confident. Personally, I would have included the bonus track from the ‘Raise The Red Flag’ single ‘Front Toward Enemy’ on the album and placed it in 9th position of the would be 10 here. But I understand why Manson wants to reward those that support him with exclusive bonus content limited to only 3000 copies. Still though the track, if you’ve managed to hear it, would have fit perfectly here with its wickedly aggressive blend of Antichrist Superstar and The Golden Age of Grotesque. The phrase ‘Front Toward Enemy’ can be found on the front of a claymore mine. The intention of the track could not be any clearer. ‘Sacrifice of The Mass’ is a wonderful lowering of the coffin as it descends into the cremation process. Is Manson about to burn everything that he once was to make a clean break and head to a new life? Is this an admission of guilt or act of repentance for anything he feels he’s done wrong to the people he’s hurt by creating Marilyn Manson and losing Brian Warner in the process? Whatever this track is, somehow it feels closer to Brain Warner than we’ve ever gotten, but then the greatest trick the Devil ever pulled was convincing the world he didn’t exist….. and chapter 2 is yet to come. Overall, Manson and Bates draw mainly on a perfect blend of Antichrist Superstar, Mechanical Animals and Holywood as they remind us all of why Manson has achieved so much success and notoriety through the years with his attention to detail and lyrical layering that you just love to peel away and examine over and over and over again. 9/10 #marilynmanson #review #newmusic #goth #rock #metal #industrial #masonicabyss #serotonin

A freaking love this album. I was so excited. Saw him live on his tourin August. He was so amazing. Anyways, love this album. It's his best since Hollywood even though I love all of his albums. This one is just astounding to me and just so different. Thanks for the review dope video. I know he said in the video. Hope nobody talks about autotune in the comments. But I'm a musician, singer-songwriter myself. And autotune is a tool and I like to use it for the effects. It's only idiots who say that auto. Tune is used for people who can't sing. Everyone uses autotune, and it can be coolwhen you use it for effects. Hope this makes sense. I had to use voice to text because I'm f****** old.😅

I'm letting myself hope that the parts of the OAUG video that show him attending a birthday party are alluding to Chapter 2 being released on his birthday. Part 1 was released on JFK's death day, the title track's video shows a birthday party... adds up to me. I'll keep dreaming! My favorite songs are Sacrilegious, Death is Not a Costume and Meet Me in Purgatory.

No Funeral particularly the chorus is tapping into that window after Portrait, leading up to Antichrist. The sounds in the chorus, the vocal with the disonant guitar is very Sweet Dreams, a bit Tourniquet. The whole album pretty much has strong links with Antichrist though, but with a more modern Goth polish and sophistication on it. I do not get the auto tune accusations - that must be from people who don’t understand recording, they are effects just like with any other instrument to achieve a certain vibe. Echo, Chorus etc. Manson has always had this stuff on. I’m pretty sure it’s only 9 tracks because from Manson’ POV it’s a double album. When part 2 comes out, 18 tracks maybe really.
