I wish that I was more informed about periods and female things in general when I was growing up. Because it was never talked about in my family and I had to figure it out on my own, and I am still learning and I am 23 years old; embarrassing at times 😔

I only ask this cause I have always used pads up until the past 4 months (like I said before I was never told/taught these things) but, I keep it in over night no longer than 8 hours. So could somebody please explain to me why she was saying it's a big NO NO to keep the tampon in for that long, what could happen!?!?
@a.l.7616
@a.l.7616 8 жыл бұрын
Nicole Bateman Toxic Shock Syndrome is a possibility and girls have died and lost limbs because of it. Also it's just kinda unsanitary. It's best to sleep in a pad or cup because theirs no real risk in those products.
@NikkiBme23
@NikkiBme23 8 жыл бұрын
Wow I've never heard of that before, it sounds painful and scary. Oh and your also saying that it's also NOT a good idea to sleep in the tampon because that 8 hours is too long as well? I cannot believe how much I have learned from you ladies, thank you. I've just never been open enough to talk about thinking of stuff with my friends about this kind of stuff; weird not to I know haha.
@a.l.7616
@a.l.7616 8 жыл бұрын
Yeah, it's a horrible, albeit rare, thing that can happen. If you would like more KZbin channels to help you learn about all these things, check out Stevie, Precious Stars Pads, and Femmehead, those channels to me have provided the best information for reusable menstrual products. How to take care if your lady bits, and all of the like. I am a few years younger than you and I understand the awkwardness that surrounds talking about these things.
@LaadeeV
@LaadeeV 8 жыл бұрын
I sleep in tampons! I feel more secure, less likely to leak vs. my Diva Cup. However, I do change it probably 4-6 hours into the night, because I don't want any accidents. Especially if it's a heavy day, I would rather just change it to be sure there are no leaks. Read the directions that come with your tampons, I think 8 hours is the longest you SHOULD wear them. And if you are looking for something to wear through a full 8 hours or longer, a menstrual cup is a good choice.

Quecucumber when I first got my period my mom was in the hospital so my dad had to explain what was happening to my body and had to buy me pads for the first time. He didn't explain shit to me because he was embarrassed so he just ran out, bought the pads, handed me the package and shoved me in the bathroom 😂 It was probably the most uncomfortable 30 minutes of his life. He got me the huge overnight ones that went all the way from my crack to my belly button.

Kelli, I have a 10 yr old whom I have been teaching about her vagina and what a period is and the options she has. Ive been able to physically show her a menstrual cup, cloth pads/liners, as well as disposible tampons and pads and why they arent the healthiest option but that it will be up to her. She even picked out a cloth liner (cartoon beavers dressed as lumberjacks lol) to have when she thinks she might get her first period. And I plan to share a few of your videos with her in the future to have another woman besides me to explain things and be more comfortable with her body and period. Thank you so much for these videos. I think you should make videos for schools to use to educate students about their options regardless of you not being a medical professional. If a teacher can educate from a textbook then a real woman like you are just as qualified. You are so relatable and I think girls would be more comfortable watching you than have to hear their teacher talk about it. Thanks again!!!

Diluted hydrogen peroxide spray to get the excess blood stains out without staining, even with older stains. Also, free dye or natural laundry soap can work. I stopped using oxyclean, but white vinegar in the wash helps and soaking in laundry solution with cold water. Also, you can use ecover or natural stain stick to let it sit for a couple hours and wash.

Nola Chick that would kind of defeat the purpose of not having chemicals in the tampons and such though 😞 because the bleach will still stay in the material and then you're putting that right into your body. Sun bleaching works great! I used it with cloth diapers when they got gross and dingy you just lay them out in the sun and the stains go away and the sun disinfects them! 😊 I loved watching the stains literally fade before your eyes!

DONT USE BLEACH. use hydrogen peroxide or this thing called citra solve. trust me citra solve is the best thing for stain removal. It got a 4 inch diameter blood stain off white sheets and slime off a furry rug. Bleach is so bad for you don't risk it.

I've always heard about chemicals being in pads/tampons and now I want to make a change since there's options now. Speaking of tampons I never thought about the tampon tail either! I was like huh lol. I always worked peeing in when I changed my tampons because I hated the wetness feeling. I'm now planning on trying out the Lena cup for my next period! This is how periods should be talked about, openly... not the hush hush and be embarrassed by them, it's all part of life. This is how I would like my future children to look at periods... a normal part of life. Thank you!

First of all youre so awesome for sharing the products you try snd going to the max to give real reviews and putting yourself out there and maybe out of your comfort zone to show it all. The good, bad, and the bloody. Its refreshing to see someone put so much into trying and testing and sharing so other women can make informed decisions about better,safer products. 2nd i had no friggin clue they made reusable tampons.about to watch the video now but had to say thanks ive seen the diva cups,the thinx panties,the pads,the flex ring things, and now im about to see this one. Thanks again for the informative and funny videos about such a taboo topic! Look forward to your next period adventure!

Thank you very much for these videos! When I was first getting my period I didn't have someone to tell me how to deal with my period. So, for most of my teenage years i had horrible experiences and shame about products I used and how they never really fit for me. Once i got introduced to google in high school i finally figured out a better plan for my time of the month. but i still had so many questions about other ways to manage. then about 2 weeks ago I found your page! I love how honest you are about the products and how your not afraid to show what everything actually looks like! I look forward to watching more videos! thank you.

love these videos but why not use peroxide on the things that you ruin? the blood comes out if you use peroxide. I bleed horribly because of my endometriosis and I have switched to the diva cup and thinx panties. I have to change my diva cup every 4 to 5 hours and it is overflowing and have to change the thinx panties at the same time. I used to have to change my ultra tampons after an hour to an hour and a half. thanks for your reviews.

Lots of fabrics can get thin and worn out using peroxide too often. I usually soak this sort of stuff in water with some oxygen cleaner and throw a scoop in the regular wash too. This usually gets out all of my stains

Not sure what endo is but, I have over enlarged fibroids and I bleed extremely heavy w/clots. I have to change my overnight pad within 20 minutes after putting on a new disposable pad.I go through 3 bags of 48 overnight pads within 5 days. Do you think the Diva cup would be okay to use or it would leak?

First Last you can’t know until you try, everyone’s bodies are different, so the diva cup might work for you or you might need a different kind of product or a different kind of cup (they’re shaped differently so different shapes fit different people better). Good luck ❤️ I hope you find something that works well for you

For anyone who is worried about cleaning time, I usually just wait until the end of my cycle and soak them all at once in some kind of stain remover and then wash them with my normal laundry afterwards. The only thing extra is soaking (which I usually do while I'm doing the rest of the house cleaning) I don't do any pre washing or soaking. After wearing them I just throw them into a bucket in my bathroom. No other extra time because I'm already doing laundry anyway! :) I've never used cloth tampons before, but I do have pads and a cup.

I love those cloth pads! My periods were always on the regular to a bit heavy side. I've used super tampons for as long as I've had my period. After my last baby.. #3 my periods are so light I don't even soak a light tampon. I've been using those exact cloth pads and just bought more in all different sizes because I love them so much. Ive tried menstrual cups as well but my cervix are positioned extremely low during my period making the cup stick out which is highly uncomfortable. Even the shorter cups are still too long. I'll be using cloth pads probably forever lol great review. I don't think I'm brave enough to try reusable tampons. Lol

You know, I used to work in a veterinarian clinic, and with the surgery towels etc, I used hydrogen peroxide to get the blood out. Soak with peroxide, let sit for bubbling stops, rinse with cold water and throw in the laundry. It works better than just cold water or regular soap and cold water. And yes, I did use this method for my period spotted underwear, and that worked better than just washing in cold. Just a thought. Hope It works for you too. :D

I love how real you are. I love reusable products! Helped out with my period a lot. I don't have a heavy flow and my period is pretty short. I understand why people are so nervous about the idea of sticking your fingers up your vagina BUT after a few uses its totally normal and I will never go back to disposables. People are just lazy and don't wanna put in the effort.

this series made me subscribe! I love your openness and honesty! I've always been extremely open about what bodily functions and many people have looked at me sideways. I don't think women should be shamed for being "NORMAL" (If that makes any sense...) I consider myself an "acquired tolerance" due to my blunt and honest personality, because I'm real and have NO problem with speaking my mind. I was planning on trying out the diva cup and stumbled upon your review. I've watched 3 videos in the series because you've really opened up the options. THANKS!!!
