No. It's not necessarily a bad thing. A lot of people find when they start using natural products without all the chemicals...a lot of people see a lighter, less crampy period. I mean, still share with your doctor. But no, it's definitely not a "bad" thing if the period becomes lighter and shorter.

I, too read that article and I, too FREAKED (the utter heck!) OUT! Until I realized: That the study that "proves" that Sea Sponges are "unsanitary" tested only 12 sea sponges, and found: only ONE to have dirt, mold, bacteria, sand... Yeah! Just one and the study NEVER says out of those 12 sponges tested where they come from Before this testing. Did they test sponges straight out of the ocean? Because those need to be disinfected before use. Did they test Sea Sponges that were properly cared for? Mostly what I think is that Anything can be dangerous. Especially IF it is not properly cared for. Heck, water is good for a person, but a person can die from a water overdose! So I just think that these scare articles are missing crucial information so that their Reader's may make a truly Informed Choice. Most people get their sponges and even if the Sea Sponges have been disinfected or (even bleached paler) the new Owner goes and disinfects them yet again by boiling them and treating them with Tea Tree Oil, Hydrogen Peroxide, and/ or white vinegar. I know a lady that does ALL of these! She understands that boiling reduces the life of the Sea Sponges, but she would rather Be Safe, than Sorry. And she keeps very good track of the age, as well as Condition of her Sponges. One thing I will be doing is having ALL the disinfection tools on hand (3% hydrogen peroxide, tea tree oil, as well as white vinegar --- both which are a natural way to disinfect lady items.) so that when I use my Sponge I can trade the "used" one for a completely disinfected one. Also I will be keeping a Record of when each Sea Sponge was bought, how many times it has been used as well as any times I was foolishly tempted to just reuse the Sea Sponge without disinfecting it. What another study did find: Women sometimes fail to properly disinfect, OR they fail to hang their Sea Sponges up to dry, which is Essential for preventing mold growth.` So to recap: 1 out of 12 sponges was contaminated in the study the article references. (I know it scared me too, at first!) If the Sea Sponges is improperly cared for, by mistake it may cause problems. Also, If a women fails to wet the sponge before inserting she can cause abrasions, that can cause dangerous problems. An improperly used Sea Sponge is NOT Safe,. However a properly used one is. I, will be using these Sea Sponges. BUT I will also be keeping Menstrual Cups, and pads on hand with me for backup. As a just-in-case scenario so if I get someplace, and need to clean out my sponge, but forgot my tools and cannot hang up my sponge(s) to dry out properly then I can use something else temporarily. In fact a lot of women (I may actually do this instead) only wear their Sea Sponge at home, and wear Menstrual Cups with a Light Liner away from home, because they are easier to care for, and easier to manage. Just what I've been researching. ;-) ------- Post Script: Good Luck with making your own Choice as to whether or not you want to use them. (I'm a strong advocate of Women making up their own minds as to their Personal Care needs and desires!)

Sea sponges are not actually animals, they have no central nervous system, no organs, no thoughts, etc. "By definition, sea sponges are classified as animals - although, this was debated for centuries, during which time they were considered first as coral and then as “half-plant and half-animal organisms” - but everything about their life cycle is far more akin to that of a plant. Specifically, they grow like plants, they eat like plants, and they have no organs or brain or nervous system, meaning that they are not self-aware, cannot think, and feel no pain of any kind. Additionally, when harvested correctly sea sponges do not die or incur injury; instead, they grow back stronger and fuller than before, like a plant that has been pruned, and at the same time release spores that settle to the ocean floor and form into new sponges."

I laughed way too hard when you said your vagina would eat the nugget for dinner. Maybe it's because I'm a nurse but I am so unphased by your blood- I was eating Cheerios while watching your review. I honestly don't consider a sea sponge an animal; they have no neurons or muscle cells, no mouth or rectum or GI tract, and no sexual organs- just DNA that kinda places them into the animal kingdom. I was curious about using this instead of a beauty blender; so thanks for the mini review! I've also noticed that since switching to a divacup my periods are a lot lighter and nowhere near as painful- I think it has a lot to do with the chemicals traditional tampons and pads have; they can irritate the vagina, and the chemicals can alter hormone production. So you are for sure doing yourself a favor by using these products

I noticed that my period was shorter as well. I just finished my first cycle using a Diva Cup for the first time. I have endometriosis as well and my period s usually last 2 weeks or longer. I used to have a Mirena IUD and it didn't help me at all. My menstrual was just as long and even more painful. So I had them take it out. This was also my first cycle off of the Mirena IUD so if anything it should have been even worse of a period. But it only lasted 4 FREAKING DAYS!!! I was in disbelief! I did also notice that my cup had a strong suction to my cervix after it popped open after insertion. I'm curious if the suction also caused me to bleed faster and heavier bc the cup was sucking the blood through the cervix. I mean it makes sense in theory. And I did have to dump my cup every 3 hours due to overflow. (I'm a VERY HEAVY bleeder. Usually have to wear Depends) But I haven't heard anyone talk about that happening to them... 🤔

Acoustic I was using two products and having to change every 20 min...a super plus tampon and overnight pad. Sleeping was not an option. Going out was not an option. I switched to washcloths in disposable underwear basically homemade reusable pads. I tried the diva cup and because of my physical makeup internally it was not working all that well but it has also reduced in length and flow level since stopping the use of pads and tampons. I'm going to definitely try the sponges since seem like they would conform more to my oddly shaped "lady bits"

:) He's a good man that's for sure to put up with my antics! lol. And yes, since my channel is monetized to help me keep creating, KZbin puts ads on and in my videos where they see fit based on the viewer.

I have never seen been able to continue to watch a video that was more than 10mins. Even if it was a period life hack (etc). But the first video I watched of you was a period review and I watched the entire thing and was not once bored of anything. Then when I watched your other period videos my first question was "Can she please be my second mom?" I absolutely love your videos and they are so interesting. I also suffer from bad cramps and to know that you do as well and you say this things help make me want to buy all of them. Thank you so much for your awesome content!!!

Rinsing it out doesn't look so bad. All I could imagine was squeezing it out again and again whereas the divacup quickly rinses clean. Not so scary after all.

You have opened my eyes to reusable menstrual products! I bought a cup and it's ready for my period this month... and now I'm thinking I will try sponges too! It weirds me out that big companies can put anything in disposable tampons and I think we all need to think more of the environment and keep an eye on what we are putting into our bodies! Thank you so much for making these videos!!

I am so glad God brought me to your channel. Back in January 2017 your Endo video kept popping up and I refused to watch it because it was so long. On Jan 16, after a laporascopy on Jan 6th, I was diagnosed with a serve case on Endo. Thank God nothing was blocked on the inside and nothing was removed. Again, your video popped up and I watched it. Because of you I found endovan and I am on my 3rd bottle. I feel great and am now talking about it with friends and family. I ordered my next set of 3 bottles. And a plus, I've ovulated from my right side which hasn't happened in years. I'm 29yrs old and my Doc said this has been developing for a long time. My period is getting lighter, pain is lessened, no more bloating. Also I made the switch to cloth pads back in Oct 2016 and changed my diet. I just received my Blossom menstrual cup yesterday. This is the first time EVER I've been excited for my period to come. LOL. Please keep making reviews!!!

thank you so much for reviewing these! I've never heard of this option. The chemicals in regular tampons are scary, organic tampons can be expensive.. so these seem like a great alternative!

"Thats what she said" *I literally laughed out loud!! Im sitting here on my period... also braless cause bras and periods suck. How far do you insert these? For someone who bleeds heavy would this not be a good idea?
@1firey17 жыл бұрын
And when I ask how far, I guess I should specify if your organs are tilted, cause I know I cant insert a tampon exactly normal...

I just wanted to point out that I am really happy to see an Asian woman whose make up isn't like 5 shades lighter then her face. You are already beautiful without make up but it's such a wonderful thing that you embrace your skin color and try to enhance it rather then trying to make yourself deliberately look like a different color that you're not. It's such an epidemic in Asian countries for women to look Caucasian. I hope we can all learn to love ourselves.

did you notice less cramping after using reusable products? because I cramp so badly but that's more of a recent thing. Like after I had my second child I started cramping really badly..

Peggy most of the time it reduces cramps, as in most* 'normal' products have chemicals that make you bleed more, you should deffo try

I wish that more people would be like her! All women should be able to talk and explain their period comfortably. It's a totally normal thing but it also totally and everyone should be able to bitch about it! She is an absolute saint

Thanks for your videos. I have stage IV endometriosis and switched to a cup back in January and didn’t realize there were so many other options so thanks for doing these videos. Also I just ordered endovan and can’t wait to get home to pick it up. It’s funny that you mention the whole public bathroom issues. I am an over the road truck driver and all I ever use is public bathrooms. I carry wipes with me and have a spare cup so I pull one out put it in a baggy use the clean one then rinse at the sink if no one is there or at the truck with a gallon of water

I have the same issue, although did you know your cervix moves lower during your menses and goes higher during ovulation! It’s to help the sperm get inside your womb! I have a menstrual cup specifically for low cervix and this does help! No leaks now. I think these might be a game changer tho!
